move you are allowed to be a bit grouchy when you are ill.

Hello grace good to see you smile you will soon have that off. We lost 71.75 lbs between us from September to Christmas. Just get weighed any day of the week you like and then post what you have lost or gained, the thread runs from Monday to Sunday as we all have different weigh days. Feel free to add recipes etc or yell if you need a hand with anything. smile

Oh Glass I am! DH keeps bringing me coffee and then ducking out the way - he is a sensible man! I don't cope with illness very well at all so it is a good thing I don't do it very often!

I cannot tell a lie - 11st 12lb which is at least 1 stone more than acceptable and 2 more than ideal. I am not prepared to pay Weightwatchers again to be told what I should know so will give it a go with GN support and see if I can at least shift the 8lb I have gained since October.

grin there are not any grumpy old women here on GN grin

Love the poem glass

Got a bad cough, bad back, never usually get either and know I have been overeating but am not going anywhere near the scales until I stop being a Grumpy Old Woman!

Almost 2lbs UP not good, but could be worse!

having regained the 2 lbs I lost by working very hard at - was down to 9 stone but now back up to 9st 2lbs - (Christmas and cakes and mince pies and chocolate and indolence) I am determined to re-lose that 2 lbs and get below the magic 9 st mark.
I believe that being a moderate weight to start with makes it so much more difficult to lost the %age to make any difference. Am I kidding myself

so the plan:
limit bread to 2 slices a day
make my own veggie soup
limit cheese to one small piece a day
switch to soft cheese from full fat cheese (cholesterol is high!)
if I feel like nibbling - have some fruit (love bananas)
drink water to get the full feeling
more exercise (Ollie the lurcher is already promised more walks and thinks it is a very good idea)

does anyone have any more ideas for losing 2 lbs+ ?

I have just had a nice surprise - have definitely lost the few pounds I had put on when I last weighed - cannot be specific as these are the dial scales here at DD and I am used to the digital variety. Gives a good start to our resolution to weigh a bit less by the summer.
Does anyone else find they need to drink plenty of water to lose weight? I find that no water =no weight loss.
Good luck ladies with your weigh ins. grin

I'm joining the weekly weigh-in for the first time and need to lose a stone.

I stayed the same over the festivities but am down 2lb this past week after eating and drinking sensibly. I've been a bit under the weather so haven't done much walking, otherwise I think I might have lost more.

Feeling in fine fettle this morning so will be having a long brisk riverwalk.

Good luck dieters! smile

Happy New Year! Happy new diet thread!
Brilliant poem glass, just right to get us all going again and congratulations on losing most of your festive gain!

I've put on a lot of weight over Christmas and New Year. Line now firmly drawn in the dust and time to get cracking on losing weight again. So I'm not recording any numbers this week, just starting afresh.

I have a mini-holiday coming up in 4 weeks and aim to lose 10lbs by then, so it's great to have a target. Usual activities resume this week, Tai Chi, aerobics etc, so that will all help.

Hope everyone is looking forward to a new start, good luck everyone! smile

Well thats it done and dusted, I hope you have all survived the holidays.

I had a weigh in on the 27th December and I had gained 2.5lbs, my next weigh in was Thursday 3rd January and I had lost 2lb so I am still up but just 1/2lb but that's fine it will soon be off.

I picked this up at my weigh in the other day and thought you might like it.

Weight Loss is a journey…..

Weight loss is a journey – tackle it in stages
Some may get there very quick, whilst others may take ages.
Weight loss is a journey, some take the stopping train,
And they get off at the station, and then get back on again.
While other lucky people seem to travel by express,
With no apparent effort, each week they weigh in less.
For some of us the journey, too often seems uphill.
We never seem to get that far, struggle though we will.
Weight loss is a journey –anyone can go
But as you travel on your way there’s something you should know.
Losing weight’s a journey that’s different for everyone,
Some are happy to stroll along while the others need to run.
If you want to complete this journey, then forget about the rest.
Each of you must travel the way that suits you best.
As long as you believe it, you WILL get there some day,
And so what does it matter if you've gone the pretty way?
Weight loss is a journey, that certainly is true.
And each of you must travel in the way that best suits YOU.
You’ll make much better progress if you go at your own pace
‘Cos weight loss is a journey- and never a race.
