jeni Fri 18-Jan-13 11:25:39

I wish I'd got multiple arms! I could multitask so much easier!

Grannyeggs Fri 18-Jan-13 11:20:47

Nice to have aGoddess on Gransnet kaligrin

glassortwo Fri 18-Jan-13 10:59:00

Ok jeni I will adjust it smile
river your welcome, but took no time at all smile

jeni Fri 18-Jan-13 10:27:36

glass I misquoted my weight. That was what I was when dehydrated with the bug. Should have been 13 11 3/4

jeni Fri 18-Jan-13 10:26:06

Kali hasn't she got multiple arms? Patron of the thuggi? Or am I confusing my goddesses?

glassortwo Fri 18-Jan-13 10:19:13

kali wink wink

Kali Fri 18-Jan-13 10:17:06

Glass I've reason to believe that a relative has accessed my GN identity so I've changed my user name. So I'm not operating under false pretenders I'll just offer the clue of 'dogs' as bags preferred to call me. I'm just slipping this info into this thread smile

Riverwalk Fri 18-Jan-13 10:16:36

Thanks for that Glass sorry to take up so much of your time!

I eat out quite a lot and, unfortunately, need no excuse to enjoy myself - start out with good intentions then when the bread basket comes ..... blush

But I'm a strong woman, yes I am - gonna get rid of this stone if it kills me grin

glassortwo Fri 18-Jan-13 09:57:29

river these are the things I would be choosing from:-

To share :- Carnivore
A selection of charcuterie, pickled gherkins, olives, caper berries

Side order:- Rocket, Parmesan salad you could avoid the Parmesan unless you wanted to syn it

Small plates:-

Lamb & black olive meatballs Tomato sauce & roasted squash

Slow cooked shoulder of lamb tagine Fresh couscous with peppers, golden sultanas, flaked almonds, black olives

Spanish vegetable tortilla Minted pea & green olive salsa

Pan-fried scallops Salsify puree, shaved winter truffle, Cabernet Sauvignon dressing

But at the end of the day you are having a night out, its only one day out of your week! Or you could have syn free days for the rest of your week to compensate, but the important thing is go out and enjoy your night.
Its all down to just trying to make the best choice without feeling you have been deprived and unless you said you were healthy eating no one else in your party would be aware of it unlike diets were all you can have is a lettuce leaf.

Have a good night smile

glassortwo Fri 18-Jan-13 08:29:48

River just off to drop DGC at school but when I get back I will have a look for you. smile

Riverwalk Fri 18-Jan-13 08:23:31

Yes, I've filled-in my profile ... I think hmm

Wine wise, I'll be OK tonight .... 3 of the 4 of us are on a diet, plus it's pre-theatre so we won't want to fall asleep or need to go to the loo grin And post-theatre we'll be hurrying to get home as the forecast is for snow all day from about 11.00, so transport will be up the creak!

My only problem is the menu - we couldn't get a booking for the restaurant, only The Barbican Lounge where the food is 'small plates' i.e. tapas - I just hope they're not swimming in oil (my syns will all be used on wine!) As it's tapas-style, will be small portions anyway.

If you have a minute glass would you mind having a quick look at the menu and see if you agree with what I'll aim for: scallops, lamb tagine, tortilla - as it's tapas they will be small portions anyway.

river fantastic, enjoy your night and your wine online does also have a weeks menu but I have not used it, have you filled in your profile to chart your progress?

Riverwalk Fri 18-Jan-13 07:53:04

glass I've been using Fry Lite, very useful! Thanks for the tip.

I should have bought the 'Gold' membership of SW which would have included the magazines but was being frugal.

The written diary is very useful - you really do restrain yourself knowing that you have to write things down.

Today I'll be saving my syns for tonight - off to The Barbican so will be having pre-theatre supper and my first wine for 6 days smile

glassortwo Fri 18-Jan-13 07:43:23

nanado did you hold your breath as it wavered about grin I do I have no idea why but I do, well done.

river just a thought if your doing SW online, try to get a hold of the SW magazine its monthly and is a great tool which has lots of recipes and run a 7 day menu, many helpful tips and articles, which help, when you are in class its cheaper not sure if they have something similar online.

This weeks total 1 stone 4 1/2lb

Nanado Fri 18-Jan-13 07:22:22

Just 1lb to report and it nearly wasn't that. The scales swung between half and one pound before giving me the benefit of the doubt sad

Welcome to GN june sorry to hear about you needing an op, I also do SW and it does work without you feeling as if you are dieting. The 2 stone should come off easily especially as you have the incentive of a handsome consultant cardiologist to contend with. smile

isthis its great when you maintain when you expect a gain isnt it. smile

juneh Thu 17-Jan-13 20:57:54

I have recently joined slimming world and the diet is good, I certainly don't feel hungry but just hate having to be so controlled around food.
I am overwieght it has to be said, and went to see my cardiologist today who has told me that I must lose at least 2 stone before I have the op he is recommending.
Being told by the doctor, with a younger version of himself standing by, and my dear hubby sitting there supportively, that I had to lose weight. Oh, the shame, even though I know it's true I could only agree and thank him very much for his service. How subservient we pensioners are around the consultant GP's, it's quite pathetic.
Anyway I digress, back to dieting there is much being said about this one where you fast for 2 days a week and eat normally the rest but I would rather try to eat normally every day. Trouble is eat normally leads to over eating normally.
However I will do my best to lose the 2 stone in the next few weeks to please my rather handsome if somewhat arrogant consultant cardiologist.

isthisallthereis Thu 17-Jan-13 13:28:29

No change from last week. I'd expected a gain so am pleased. Will register a loss next week, promise.

Thanks for all the support and encouragement and useful suggestions. Reassured to find despite big weight loss BMI still normal. I have decided to concentrate on eating healthily even if I still can't eat a lot. I dont want to pile it all back on when appetite does return. Accepted on careers support programme at the hospice DH is attending. Think it will help a lot.
