Is anyone up for a new challenge starting on Monday to run through to the August Bank holiday for an incentive for holidays?

Wheniwasyourage Fri 29-Mar-13 18:54:54

Best of luck, glass. If you can get into the dress happily now, you've won already so that anything you lose in the coming week is a big, sparkly BONUS!!! (Perhaps that should be a slim, sparkly bonus) flowers

celebgran Thu 28-Mar-13 09:25:14

Wheniwasyourage Wed 27-Mar-13 17:40:51

For some reason I seem to have lost 900g in the last 2 weeks (don't think I posted last week). Can't understand it, but will enjoy it while it lasts - not long probably as Easter and chocolate are looming...

Good luck to everyone over the weekend and don't worry about the hot cross buns and the Easter eggs. If it's traditional, it doesn't count hmm

Movedalot Wed 27-Mar-13 15:09:43

And the very hungry caterpillar turned into a beautiful butterfly smile

Tegan Wed 27-Mar-13 14:45:59

Haven't done this for ages but got the munchies late last night and ate a slice of cake; a chunk of cheese; a packet of crisps and two shortbread biscuits [this sounds like something from The Very Hungry Caterpillar] sad blush At least I didn't start on the ice cream [which used to be my late night munchfest].

Grannyeggs Wed 27-Mar-13 14:39:39

I seem to have lost 2 pounds. Am now 10 stone 10, I have had some chocolate this week, but something's working. Hmm Easter is coming, that could be tricky!

Galen Tue 26-Mar-13 17:36:34

grin at least you know you're not imagining it!
Mind you, there is a commissioners decision that says that pain is real even if it is imagined! ( judge Jacobs)

Movedalot Tue 26-Mar-13 17:26:39

Head will remain in sand Galen grin

Galen Tue 26-Mar-13 17:24:28

It's quite well known. We see some people with it for the mobility component of DLA which is going ? Next week!

Movedalot Tue 26-Mar-13 17:21:21

Galen I do suffer from fatigue and need more sleep than most but put that down to the lack of a thyroid gland. This pain, according to the doc. is related to the terrible back pain which has now gone and even the hip to knee pain is improving. I intend to start back at the gym next week. If I do have PPS then I think I will ignore it until it gets worse. The scoliosis doesn't hurt so I am happy to ignore that. Clearly I should lose weight if I have PPS but I need to do that anyway.

I really don't want to be diagnosed with anything else, I've had enough! I have a friend who also had polio, hers when she was about 3 but I have no intention of telling her about this as she would be very worried!

If I notice any particular muscle weakness I will think again.

Thanks for telling me.

Movedalot Tue 26-Mar-13 17:05:05

I thought you were joking! I'll google

Galen Tue 26-Mar-13 17:02:16

No about the right time. We've only been seeing it for the last few years. You can google it!

Movedalot Tue 26-Mar-13 16:37:15

If it is Galen its taken a very long time to emerge. grin

I am trying to keep away from medics, if they get their hands on my scoliosis I am sure it will start to hurt. If they try do do anything about my short leg it will cause a problem. I have been ignoring them for years, not going to let anyone start messing with them now. grin

Galen Tue 26-Mar-13 16:02:30

moved is this post polio syndrome?

Tegan Tue 26-Mar-13 15:39:11

Oh dear; slow progress Moved sad. I found that having a hot water bottle on my knees last week made them [and me] feel a lot better. Might be worth trying the orthotics? I find wearing totally flat shoes make my knees hurt. glass; it was too cold to move far last week; spent a lot of time on the sofa and [this is so sad] we tended to make a flask of tea in the afternoon and go and sit in the car watching the waves at various places[Craster was quite dramatic one afternoon]. It's soo what old people do blush. Hope they sort the boat out that's ran aground on the Farnes; will be a disaster for the local birds if it breaks up. We're up again at the end of August so a meet up then would be lovely [might have stopped snowing by then!].

Movedalot Tue 26-Mar-13 15:16:31

Thanks for the interest Tegan. I'm a bit more mobile but still can't be upright for long before I'm in pain. Physio seemed surprised at how fit I am apart from this bit and seemed to think I should wear an orthotic in my shoe to even up me leg lengths. Am reluctant to do this as I had polio 60 years ago which caused it but if I start messing with it now it could make things worse! Bought some knee pads today so I can do the kneeling type gardening when the thaw starts. Think I might rejoin the gym and see what I can do without standing for long. Bike? Rowing?

glassortwo Tue 26-Mar-13 11:59:14

Sorry and I thought I was having a better day today, obviously not. grin
