According to health guidelines we are supposed to walk 10,000 steps a day +. I have just walked in and out of my local town about 1 and a half miles round trip, probably 2. Armed with a recently purchased pedometer I am trying to hit that goal, but even with 25 mins on the boring treadmill, I'm still falling short. I exceeded it for a couple of days recently when a visiting friend from Scotland wanted to do Kew Gardens and a couple of museums, but this is outside my daily routine.

Any GNs out there recording their daily steps? and if so do you hit the 10,000 mark?

I can't sad can I do 10,000 blinks instead?

Best of luck Chloe it may be more realistic to try adding 500 every few days so the extra distance is a gradual increase then more chance of you maintaining it. Whatever you choose keep us up to date with your progress .

Galen Iread that fidgeting or not letting yourself sit too long can be beneficial.

I got a pedometer in January. 10,000 steps takes forever to do. I get bored walking. I prefer using my phone with mapmywalk. It doesn't count steps but it does count miles, and tells you how fast you walked. I might give it a go, doubt I'll get to 10,000 steps very often though - I don't have time and would rather ride my bike anyway.

Well thank you for the invite, I may just try to increase gradually however have just been persuaded by DD to join in the walk for life locally which is being held on Saturday. Can't wait !
Will keep you updated if I am able to lift my head or feet from the sofa [btgrin]
