Losing weight- 12 months on(nearly)

In January 2014 DH and I resolved to lose weight. Me - 5 stone overweight. DH - 10 stone overweight. The 'fat family'.(but not unhappy) We reduced our portions. We ate a lot of salad meals. DH makes the salads, and lovely they are too. Peppers, spring onions, tomatoes, green apples, grapes, cucumber, and pickled garlic. Celery for DH. (I hate the stuff) + smoked salmon, or prawns, or baked salmon, or baked fish. We still went out for an occasional meal and had what we wanted then. We went on holidays, and ate what we wanted then. We reduced our alcohol consumption. We walked 30 mins - 60 mins each day.

Nearly 12 months later..... DH has lost 6 stone. I have lost 3 stone. We have struggled. We have lapsed. But we have started each day afresh. I think our main problem is the booze. If we drink, caution is thrown to the wind!

Overall, I believe we have done quite well, but it's bloody hard going!

Congratulations to you both, kassi! Only those who struggle with their weight can appreciate what a great achievement it is. I managed to lose 2.5 stone quite easily about 18 months ago, but I just can't seem to get rid of the last few pounds needed to make me a healthy weight.

kassi that's a wonderful achievement x 2! As you know that the alcohol interferes with your weight loss programme, why don't you say sign up to Dry January (coming up soon) - you'll see if you read up about it on Google that lots of people who give up alcohol for a month drink less when they take it up again.

Well done anyway!

Well done, kassi, and very sensible to eat what you like on outings and holidays. A little of what you fancy has obviously done you both a lot of good. flowers x2

Well done kassi. I lost 2.5 stone and need to lose a bit more, but unfortunately 5 or 6 lbs seems to have gone back on again recently.

Now, trying to watch what I eat in between the Christmas meals out and offerings of mince pies, chocolates, wine etc otherwise I will find the other 2 stone has gone back on.
I threw out all my clothes which were too big so I will have nothing to wear if I put the weight back on.
