How can anyone eat just ONE date? That's willpower indeed. I'd always be thinking 'there's more where that came from' as sadly I do have a very sweet tooth.

I usually have a small handful of mixed fruit and nuts after my evening meal. DBH has a packet of finely chopped dates to add to his, I dare not! Luckily I don't actually like his chopped dates, they really are very dried up. I do however love fresh dates. The pineapple acted like a switch, it instantly turned off my craving for sweet stuff or crisps or any of the other demons I have to fight before bed. It will be interesting to see if it works as well tonight, as I am usually ravenous when I get back from choir.

Just made spag bol with sweet potato pasta. Very simple and tasty. Both GS1 and GS3 demolished it! Never seen plates emptied so quickly and completely with calls for more smile

Yes loopy I simply spirilised 1large sweet potato and fried in in a touch of oil for 2 minutes. The reaction was 'can we have this again?' From DGSs and DH.

grin Well done! I fear that is some way off for me, but I am managing to squeeze into clothes I couldn't get into last year. I'm just so pleased to find a way of eating that I can stick to happily.

Agree with what both of you say Merlot and Jane and so glad that Mamie started this thread. I've had my cholesterol checked and its dropped from 5.2 to 4.8 and the ratios of 'good' to 'bad' is fine.

But most of all this us such an easy eating plan to stick to. I've had guests staying, I've been away staying with friends and family and it's not caused any problems. And as it's so easy to stick to everyone will get there eventually. I want to lose another 5lbs but there's no rush.

We're having bolognese tonight so what do I do with the courgetti? Heat it up in the microwave like cauli-rice or stir fry it?

Merlot I would stir fry it or just stir it into the sauce at the end and let it heat through.
Bottom of freezer dinner here, so we are having venison steaks and a Persiana style vegetable ratatouille. Not quite sure how it will all work together but no energy for being more creative today!

BTW did anyone see the programme about eating fat last night? A group of volunteers had a significant drop in weight and cholesterol after a very short time on the high fat low carb diet.
I thought the dietician at the end was seriously squirming in trying to say why it couldn't possibly be a good idea and we should all be on the "mediterranean diet".
That'll be pasta followed by churros and hot chocolate then.

I just weighed myself, and I have lost 4lbs. grin That's over the past week and a half since DBH went back to school. As I had a fair few lapses during that time, I am really happy!

Merlot just a really quick heat up, whichever you choose. My DD puts them under the sauce raw most of the time, unless it's something tougher like beetroot, swede, celeriac or carrot or sweet potato.

I will now confess that late last night when we were trying to stay awake watching the election results, DH made.....whisper it.....two bacon and mushroom sandwiches shock

It was low carb bread though....honest grin

I have been saintly tonight. It won't last though, DBH is cooking tomorrow night. When he goes shopping for the food, he always buys me a 'little treat' that I am starting to think is some kind of sadistic test of my won'tpower.

Hmm. Said today to DH that I think the jury is still out. I like the courgetti spaghetti very much, but not so sure that other stuff couldn't just be grated / chopped. I did spiralized kohlrabi in a salad at lunchtime and not entirely sure it was worth the effort tbh.
You do waste quite a bit of the veg (though we made the leftover bits from the middle into soup), but I am a bit hmm

I'd say YES. Not so keen on the courgetti (but that's probably because I overcooked it) but love spiralised carrot, sweet potato, beetroot, apple, pear and butternut squash.

Much easier using a spiraliser than grating IMO, and it's quicker too.

Used it for onion rings too and it cut out the tears.
