I'm going for the NHS recommended way to lose weight and it happens to coincide more or less with SW & WW. Its low carb, low fat, high fruit vegetables , chicken , fish and small amount of red meat basically and of course exercise which for us is walking and golf. I'm not attending a group as I have several of those T shirts so DH and I are going alone - me to lose 20lbs and him to lose 9lbs. Anyone joining us?

No I don't think so as fruit, plain rice and pasta and potatoes can be eaten freely on this one.

Oh and fats are very limited indeed. Just enough to get the daily Vit D I think.

I'm with you on this, Teetime. Four years on steroids have obliterated my waistline and three stone would be ideal. Done it all before, of course - I once ran a Weightwatchers group which is hard to believe now. I need to be very careful about fats as I have discovered that I have - to quote the scan result - numerous gallstones! So it's fish, fruit and vegs for me.

It's the way I usually eat anyway. Doesn't everyone with an ounce of sense?

Will get back to it once the sodding Xmas cake has gone.

Seems very similar. I'm doing without the rice/pasta/potatoes/bread and it's working fine. However I'm not fretting about right or wrong fruit and veg!

Sirloin steak once a week, plenty of fish and chicken but also cheese and milk.

Wholemeal bread. Whole grain rice and pasta. What's wrong with that? Obviously, in a balanced diet.

That Dr Michael Whatsit that's always on TV trying out caddy diets said that a slice of whole meal bread will raise your blood glucose quicker and higher than a Snickers bar. So there's a moral there somewhere!

Can't actually eat wholemeal bread at the moment. But quite happy to stick with oaty white. Even if it is slightly gas inducing. smile

I want to join the Fat Fighting , I'm going to Portugal in May and need to lose about 3 stone to get back into my holiday clothes ! Healthy eating suits me best - I've lost weight lots of times but each time it seems to get harder . Need free help this time - that's you girls !

What's wrong with having your blood glucose levels raised anyway? Low blood sugar makes you go all shaky.

That was the point - wholemeal bread does it better and quicker than a Snickers bar (and is obviously more healthy!).

The diet you advocate on GN Anya is, in reality, the no carbs diet. You just changed the name. And it's not healthy.

I don't think that's what Anya meant Ana. I think she is saying hat eating a slice of wholemeal bread is as bad for you as eating a Snickers bar. Which is obviously not correct.

The faddier the diet the less lasting it will be. I lost over a stone last year this way: eat only when you are hungry and think about each mouthful and ENJOY what you eat. Make your diet up of APPROX 1/8 carb, 1/8 fats, 1/4 protein, 1/2 fruit/veg. REDUCE the amount of processed foods. Increase exercise. NOTHING is banned!! if you have a day where you do not follow the simple rules it is OK tomorrow is a new day!
