Today is start day. Good luck everybody! I did a grocery shop yesterday and resisted the temptation to buy anything snacky. Thank you Ruby for starting us off, forgive me for muscling in, but I know you are an owl rather than a lark.

I'm not counting puddings, they're part of a meal! Mind you, I very rarely have one as I'm on five small meals a day. My problem is with my two Ryvetta with spread at mid morning. Best Beloved bought a packet of hot cross buns and I was forced to eat one of them instead. He thought it would be a treat and I couldn't upset him! There are two left.

I too fell off the wagon last night had a small dessert of chocolate sponge and sauce.. oh well not bad for a whole week of not snacking.

I made some sugar free jelly, does that count as a snack? I'm not sure..

What will actually happen Rubylady in Mindfulness March, I am intrigued ?

J52 Mon 06-Feb-17 20:51:43

3 hours of gardening, mostly digging earned me a small square of chocolate. So not really cheating grin

FarNorth Mon 06-Feb-17 20:49:08

Don't be discouraged by falling off the wagon, just clamber back on again and hold tight!

hildajenniJ Mon 06-Feb-17 14:48:57

I've fallen off the wagon. I must confess to having a small bowl of pretzels last night. That being said, I did only have a bowl of soup for my supper.

Confession time for me too Cherrytree59 hmm

After my usual Sunday walk on the beach yesterday I confess to having a medium sized Salted Caramel ice cream sugar cone. It was absolutely delicious and I felt like I had earned it.

I do like the sound of Mindfulness March Rubylady smile

Annsixty. Yes, the number of times my hand has begun to reach to some chocolate coins in an open container (GSs' from Christmas). open packs of biscuits are a danger too. Maybe I should wear oven mittens!

Elrel Mon 06-Feb-17 12:31:34

Good to have a chance to confess! I thought that Muller Light yoghurts had sweetener instead of sugar. There were lots in the fridge (a pack free with 3 SW ready meals) and I had 4 last week. Back on low fat natural yoghurt now. Didn't have stem ginger (or any other) ice cream at theatre. Trying hard! Good luck everyone?

Cherrytree59 Mon 06-Feb-17 11:56:01

I just had to make lemon buns, like Chelsea buns but with lemon curd! Not eaten one yet, but might just try a bit ?. DH will have to eat the rest! Any left will be given away to DS.

annsixty Sun 05-Feb-17 16:27:27

Only day 5 and I am findng it harder than I imagined. I didn't realize just how often I "just tried" things or nibbled whilst cooking.

tanith Sun 05-Feb-17 15:25:31

I gave in a tiny bit last night and had tinned apricots (in juice not syrup) with a spoonful of custard, but in the past I would of eaten either cream cake or a big bowl of crumble with loads of custard so not quite GOOD but oh so much BETTER.grin
Good so far today but we shall see.

I am doing OK, but this morning a (slim) friend was going on about not tasting lardy cake for years. I therefore now have a batch of dough proving. I just have to finish baking it and deliver it to her without trying a piece. I am thinking a slice eaten instead of my dinner might not count as a snack grin but must resist!

Rubylady, I have not tried mindfulness, but have encouraged DD1 as she suffers from anxiety. Perhaps I will join her for March if you decide on this.

Keep going everyone, you are doing brilliantly. Good on you tanith, it must be hard to adjust to a complete new way of doing things, treat yourself well.

I was thinking of a Mindfulness March. What does anyone else think about this? X

I'm still snack free, but finding it really hard OH said I seem down in the dumps whether that's to do with no sugar or feeling fed up that I'm now starting on Diabetic meds.. I am determined though.

Well done everyone.

So far so good for me. I realise now that I'm not snacking, how much I did snack. I try not to have cakes or biscuits in the house but every time I went to the fridge I would pick at ham, cheese or berries. Bad habit so glad to join in here.
Now when I feel like a snack I have a glass of water or a cup of tea. Let's hope it works and I see a downward move on the scales. Only time will tell.

J52 Sat 04-Feb-17 09:58:11

P.S I'm not weighing myself, just wanting to lose the tummy bulge that's appearing! So I'm using the fit of my clothes as a guide.

FarNorth Sat 04-Feb-17 09:57:26

Something I have done before, is to tell myself "I don't eat snacks after 5pm".
That way I don't feel they have been forbidden, but the main danger time for snacking has been sorted!

J52 Sat 04-Feb-17 09:55:47

Still no snacking for me! I didn't really eat between meals, so cutting out any cake biscuits has been quite easy.
My downfall is a savoury nibble with a pre dinner drink. The only answer has been, not to buy any nuts, olives or crisps!

I like this way of just cutting out those extra calories, but still enjoying proper meals. Let's hope it works!

Cherrytree59 Sat 04-Feb-17 09:52:33

well done NfkDumpling
I am hoping that I have managed to loose a couple of pounds this week
Going to weigh myself on Tuesday.

Cherrytree59 Sat 04-Feb-17 09:48:02

Where are all the February No Snackers?
Surely they haven't all fallen by the wayside?
I've got 2 little live wire GS today and they love a cafe treat after running round at out local NT.
So I'm planning on just an Americano for me sad

Cherrytree59 Fri 03-Feb-17 17:00:59

No snacking so far...
Was a close run thing as little GS decided to share a soggy chip with his gran, by actually pushing it in to my mouth!
Luckily the self appointed snack police (DH) was on hand to remind me. hmm

My father believed in three meals a day and positively no snacks - ever. If I asked for sweets or a biscuit I was told either that I'd just had my breakfast/dinner/tea so couldn't be hungry, or that it was nearly dinner/tea time and I would spoil my meal. Soooo, when I got home for school ravenous and mum slipped me a sugar sandwich, it was illicit, forbidden, and snacks became a secret treat. I think in my head they'd stayed that - a forbidden luxury. That's why they taste so good. I don't actually like biscuits or chocolate that much. Too sweet. But it doesn't stop me eating them!

I'm doing quite well on my three very small meals and two healthy snacks routine - or five meals a day diet. No biscuits, crisps or anything individually wrapped. Have lost a couple of pounds this week.

Cherrytree59 Thu 02-Feb-17 18:06:16

Well got through yesterday ok
In between meals had 2 apples (at different times) as no banana in fruit bowl.

Whilst in Asda today buying up the Fresh fish on the offer shelf, I almost put some yummy desserts that were also on offer in my basket but then...
I remembered our GN no snack thread!
Whew that was closegrin
