Anyone like to join me in this?
You can set your own ‘frugal’ guidelines but the aim is to eat and drink in a more restrained (and healthy) manner that usual just for 28 days.
I did this last year and lost those few extra pounds that nobody wants. For those who have more than a few pounds to shift it can kick start a real weight loss plan for 2018.
It can be combined with 16:8 and any other ‘diets’ you are following.
So, anyone out there want to join in for 28 days and we’ll share ideas and support each other? ?
??
MrsAllboys.. maybe you could save it, and make yourself a lovely snowball, with a cherry on a cocktail stick to celebrate when you've lost a few pounds? Go mad, and have a packet of low fat crisps with it too, perhaps?
?. I’ve deliberately not bought anything snacky so can’t fall into temptation. Unfortunately Old Meg’s post reminded me that I too have some Advocaat in the fridge. The only reason that it’s still there is because I’m not overly keen on it. But now I feel I should try and drink it up before tomorrow incase desperation sets in after a week or so of abstinence!! But don’t think I can actually manage it in the time left☹️
I have eaten healthily today. I keep thinking maybe I should have a cheese sandwich or something. A last blow out of some sort.. Its only the thought of heartburn that's stopping me.
Good question Cherrytree ...think stay with this one. My thinking is not everyone might spot the new one and then we could end up with two threads, very confusing.
So yes Tis The Eve of Frugality. GrannyEggy I must confess I found half a bottle of Advocaat in a cupboard so made myself a couple of generous Snowballs. Happily that did the trick and it’s all gone.
So if I’m not first up Frugaleer, then anyone set the ball in motion and declare Frugal February is Go
Good Luck everyone and remember it’s only 28 days, or 672 hours from midnight and you’ll be asleep for approximately 200 of those hours.
Old meg and fellow frugaleers just checking in on the eve of frugal February.
I have eaten for Britain this evening and not feeing any guilt what so ever.
Tomorrow new month, new day and healthy eating plan.
Fingers crossed a new healthy me and ....
new healthy GN Frugaleers
Oldmeg Are we staying with this thread or a new one tomorrow?
Have lost a bit this week, but today found that I hadn't thrown those last few bits of chocolate away, and scoffed the lot!
. So back to the drawing board tomorrow- I do find it hard this time of year, and am not sure that there is much to chose between January and February - they are both grim!
Onwards and downwards - I like that!
A Super blue blood moon but we won't see the total eclipse here unfortunately.
Well, I did an hour in the gym and 2 hours in the sauna; trouble is I have two sets of scales at home and one weighs over half a stone more than the other. using the scales at the gym I realised that the heavier scales are, in fact, the most accurate
. Had an early morning call the look after DGS who'd been up half the night with earache; made an omelette when I got home as it's all I could think of lots of cheese in it, but may have a nap and go to the gym again. Felt so much better last night when I'd been there...I agree about being able to wear layers. But it's so depressing when the warm weather finally arrives and you get a shock when you try to put your summer clothes on.
Hi Jalima, Like I said though, some people have other causes and I don’t want to offend anyone. I’ve notived that since I put on weight my knees sometimes hurt. A lot of people I work with have severe mobility problems caused by being obese, some morbidly. There is a substantial proportion of the population here that are overweight or obese and that’s why I’ve decided to sort myself out. I want to stay mobile and independent and when I think of further complications such as possible diabetes, high blood pressure and heart problems I do get quite concerned! So hopefullu, onwards and downwards ?
I find eating less in hot weather easy, but need it more through the Winter months, I think it’s a natural thing.
I don’t comfort eat or even over eat though.
I think I should join, please? I need to cut down on all the rubbish I've been eating, so that's my plan.
Grandma2213
that’s why we should all have a new Summer wardrobe.
wallets I have a vision of people skidding along the ground on large wallets
and noticed so many older people needing to use scooters, wallets and trolleys because of their size.
What came first, the chicken or the egg (to use a food analogy)
Do they need to use a wheelchair because they are obese (probably less likely) or have they put on weight because they have a disability and can't exercise?
Good post MesMopTop and hold onto that mobility thought. As far as DH buying treats, tell him you’re not eating them in February and if he persists then bin them. Hard I know but....
Orange that’s a wise thought...yes, you do have to start somewhere. So welcome. Just watch out for fruit in smoothies, they are full of a carb called sugar, might not be the best way to cut the carbs. Just saying.
So just one more sleep ? and then it’s D-Day!
Definitely! Diet buddies!
Diet buddy Orange, not dirt ! Blooming auto correct!
Hello Orange, you and I are in the same boat then! Can I be your dirt buddy ? Prior to Christmas I had lost 15kg just by using s smaller plate and drinking more water. Also tried to eat food as unprocessed as possible. Really giving my head a shake and getting serious as if I don’t get this weight off I never will. I used to be very slim, but now look like I’ve eaten everything and everyone ?. Was st the shopping mall today and noticed so many older people needing to use scooters, wallets and trolleys because of their size. I know some will have disabilities that are hidden, and I certainly don’t want to come across as offensive. I just don’t want my weight to be something that restricts my mobility. Another good tip is to look at yourself in a full size mirror, in the nuddy, when you feel temptation. I scare myself daily ?. Doesn’t help when DH tells me I’m not fat and buys me treats. Well, tomorrow DDay for me and guess what, tonight it’s a super, blue moon and also a total eclipse visible from here! Must be my big arse ???
lemongrove Jan and Feb are not the worst months. You can cover up with lots of layers. When it warms up in April and May though and you can't fit into any summer clothes aaargh!
WW my easy meals are beans on toast or bean and a jacket potato - but then I love baked beans!
My OH and I do the 5:2 diet and get Wiltshire Farm Foods meals for dinner on fasting days; they do a good selection of meals for less than 300 calories and at least we get one proper balanced meal. I agree with Tegan2, it's thinking about food/cooking that makes me hungrier so just whacking something in the microwave works for me. We've lapsed over Christmas but we're knuckling down now, so I'll give Frugal February a go too.
Oh! I'd like to join, too. I have 50 pounds to lose but I have to start somewhere. I've decided to give up as many carbs as possible and start drinking healthy smoothies made with raw fruit and veggies. Good luck to us all.
Welcome GrannyEggy
Some of those M&S meals (not all) are freezable so great for days you really don’t feel like cooking. Yes, Tegan they are often 3 for £10. There’s a very nice Pulled Ham with Mustard Mash (and green beans and carrots).
Lemongrass I think February is the perfect month for this, but hey ho! Each to their own.
You are all very good, thinking about reduced calories in Jan and Feb the worst months of the year!
It’s something I can do in the really warm months, but not otherwise, in fact, after Merry March I am looking forward to All You Can Eat April.?
