Frugal February

Anyone like to join me in this?

You can set your own ‘frugal’ guidelines but the aim is to eat and drink in a more restrained (and healthy) manner that usual just for 28 days.

I did this last year and lost those few extra pounds that nobody wants. For those who have more than a few pounds to shift it can kick start a real weight loss plan for 2018.

It can be combined with 16:8 and any other ‘diets’ you are following.

So, anyone out there want to join in for 28 days and we’ll share ideas and support each other? ?

blink I’m just the same. Lunch tomorrow with friend and I have huge temptation to eat chips because we never have them at home.

Today is if I’m really good a very low carb day.
Porridge
Salad
Fish stew which is only 143 calories, and so quick to cook.

Now if I could keep to that I will have lost weight when I weigh in in the morning.

Was a bit put out yesterday when my jeans seemed a tad tight and harder to zip up even though they have a bit of stretch in them. Decided they’re clean enough to wear for a second day today but when putting them on noticed they were size 12.

I had a couple of pairs left over from a few years ago and must have grabbed one of those. Thank you Mr Dentist ?

Bad day yesterday. American blueberry pancake plus we went out for a meal with friends in the evening.... Must try harder to eat salads when out. Somehow I get waylaid by all the other options on the menu. cupcake

I managed to avoid the pancakes, had a very virtuous dinner with lots of veg and tested my blood glucose after 2hours. It was 5.4 so went out the freezer and polished off half a tub of Hagen Daz Salted Caramel ice cream! Weight this morning was 67.7 kg as it has been all week. Sigh!

Jalima I reckon if I lived alone I’d not be fussed about eating at fixed times. DH’s family have a history of type 2 diabetes (his mother and both brothers). If I don’t regulate his meals and cook them he’ll go foraging and inevitably goes for bad options (for him) such as a sandwich.

I never forget to eat.

Jalima1108 Tue 13-Feb-18 23:18:45

Three, yes 3, pancakes (very thin) with lots of lemon juice and proper sugar.
And very nice they were too.

I'm a comfort eater, I guess, but it doesn't comfort me; I sometimes think I do it to make myself miserable [if that makes sense?].

OldMeg Tue 13-Feb-18 22:29:31

Low veg count today as I forgot to have lunch. Sadly that meant I got a fit of the munchies this evening so am writing today off.

Roll on tomorrow and a new start.

OldMeg Tue 13-Feb-18 22:14:54

Just think one day at a time MissA - see if you can report back this time tomorrow on a ‘good’ day ?

WW that must have filled you up - all that veg. Bet you didn’t feel hungry after that. Sounds yummy.

MissAdventure Tue 13-Feb-18 22:08:40

Ah, thank you. I'm such a comfort eater, I'm embarrassed and rather cross with myself for being so weak. But being cross will only make me eat more.
As you say, tomorrow is another day. smile thanks again.

whitewave Tue 13-Feb-18 21:55:37

misadventure sad the good thing is that there is always tomorrow smile

MissAdventure Tue 13-Feb-18 21:50:21

Bad, bad day for me. Not having a very good time, food wise or any other wise either.

whitewave Tue 13-Feb-18 21:48:22

I had two, well I had no choice as I bought some gluten free mixture and that’s what it made. Waste not want not.

For supper

Lamb shank cooked in onion and garlic gravy, mixture of carrot, parsnip and turnip, and also mixture of green stuff like beans, peas tender stem etc. So no potatoes. But still a bit heavy on calories I think.

Norah Tue 13-Feb-18 21:38:31

Really delicious grin

Norah Tue 13-Feb-18 21:37:31

Frugal pancakes [grin} are delicious.

Happy Shrove Tuesday Frugeleers.

Fingers crossed I'm not the only Frugeleer to have fallen off the wagon enjoyed
Pancake Day.

Scoffed not 1 but 2_pancakes with granular sweetener, and lemon?

Delicious blush

Tegan2 Tue 13-Feb-18 12:13:04

Blinko; as I said, I'm very small boned so 10st isn't as good as it sounds. Also I'm totally flat chested so all of my weight is from the waist down.

Jalima1108 Tue 13-Feb-18 12:04:40

I have a cold so I'm feeling a bit miserable, probably soup for lunch if I cbb to make it.
Then I would be quite happy with a couple (or three) pancakes for dinner tonight but no doubt DH will want something else first. He can make himself something!
The lemon on the pancakes will be full of vitamin C anyway.

OldMeg Tue 13-Feb-18 12:01:21

Tegan keep going, just think how you will feel when you can say casually ‘oh I’m 9 stone something!’ ?

WW can you please direct me to your fish curry recipe, I must have missed it and there 19 pages to sift through on this thread? I think I’m developing gills ???

Blinko Tue 13-Feb-18 11:50:57

Ooh, Tegan ten stone, that would be my goal! Just back from 3weeks hols in the sun, hotel life not really conducive to frugality though we did plenty of walking. Back now to 16:8 or when I can manage it, 18:6 with the aim of getting to the magic ten stone smile

Tegan2 Tue 13-Feb-18 11:42:31

Felt really bloated yesterday as I made lots of miso soup with vegetables and then forgot to add a few noodles which make it more filling. Did the gym and sauna, though [kept trying to find an excuse not to go but couldn't]. Going to have my turmeric drink and then a M&S ready meal before we go to the cinema. Weight on nasty scales is bang on 10st and not shifting; will feel really happy if the dial just goes down below that. Need some nice weather to motivate me to go for a walk....

whitewave Tue 13-Feb-18 08:55:57

Glad you enjoyed it cave and hope you enjoy your pie? I love pastry but it gives me indigestion these days, which is probably a blessing in disguise.

We have Mary Berries lamb shanks which are probably a bit heavy on the carbs but my butcher had an offer - so being frugal!!

whitewave Tue 13-Feb-18 08:53:38

Oh is it Thursday? meg what a relief that will be
