Frugal February

Anyone like to join me in this?

You can set your own ‘frugal’ guidelines but the aim is to eat and drink in a more restrained (and healthy) manner that usual just for 28 days.

I did this last year and lost those few extra pounds that nobody wants. For those who have more than a few pounds to shift it can kick start a real weight loss plan for 2018.

It can be combined with 16:8 and any other ‘diets’ you are following.

So, anyone out there want to join in for 28 days and we’ll share ideas and support each other? ?

I certainly don’t mind frivolity either WW or I wouldn’t have posted on advice on tacking cream eggs ?! But I think you understand what I getting at.

That’s a brilliant aim WW ??

Yesterday went ok except that wretched hungry gap late afternoon. Fruit doesn’t really do it for me as I always crave carbs so usually have buttered crackers. Any ideas please? Really I guess it will be easier come the warmer weather as I will be more active and doing rather than sitting reading or watching tv.

I know what you are say meg but I don’t really mind a bit of frivolity.

I have a favourite dress - blue and white silk wth a blue band around the waist. I am desperate to fit into the waist as it fits everywhere else. That’s what I’m aiming for at the minimum. I want to wear it in the Italian lakes and feel glamorous. grin

Incidentally thanks to those who are joining me in this, you’re a great support. It’s lovely to read your success posts and a big help to know that you too are trying so hard.

Without meaning to upset anyone, if this isn’t something you seriously want to do, then perhaps posting frivolous excuses isn’t helping the rest of us. I distinguish betwen genuine reasons or setbacks and ones that show you had no real commitment in the first place .

just saying

Not for us Maggie we’ll have done our bit by then.

Giving up chocolate for March?! shock What fresh hell is this?

whitewave Thu 08-Feb-18 20:34:15

Well it should have been a picture of a chocolate bar and a quote from Oscar Wilde about temptation.

I hope to hone that newly acquired skill grin

All I can say is - ~We've been out a lot this week.

OldMeg Thu 08-Feb-18 20:29:30

whitewave Thu 08-Feb-18 20:24:44

Ignore that it wasn’t what I was hoping for.

whitewave Thu 08-Feb-18 20:23:52

Thanks a lot Tegan & Millbrook ?

Maggiemaybe Thu 08-Feb-18 19:38:51

I could never eat just one creme egg! I seem to have lost one pound this week- could be better, but I’m only aiming to lose about 5 pounds overall. Today we went to the pictures then to Pizza Express next door. So my food intake has been 2 complimentary oat and raisin cookies then a 500 calorie superfoods salad with added anchovies. Unfortunately with a mixed starter and - ahem - dough balls. That will definitely be it for today though, apart from snacks of a few olives and a little bunch of grapes.

Millbrook Thu 08-Feb-18 19:08:59

I was thinking exactly the same thing Tegan2 !

Tegan2 Thu 08-Feb-18 18:13:17

I'll eat one for you, if you like...

OldMeg Thu 08-Feb-18 16:43:49

I had promised myself a Cadbury’s cream egg on 14th as a half-way cum Valentine treat. But my appointment with dentist is not till 15th and I be afeared of biting into anything solid until I’m sure the new crown will stay on.

Can one suck a cream egg into submission, do any Frugaleers know? ?

MissAdventure Thu 08-Feb-18 16:21:06

I'll have to, cavewoman. I'm going to give myself a good talking to. I went and bought supplies today: I didn't plan to eat nearly all of them in one sitting!

cavewoman Thu 08-Feb-18 16:16:58

Oh never mind MissA You can always get back on it.grin

cavewoman Thu 08-Feb-18 16:15:18

Well done to the losers!
I.m not weighing until 1st March as I know from past experience that if I haven't lost I'll cheer myself up with chocolate.
And if I HAVE lost, I'll celebrate with chocolate!
In fact I've just decided to abstain until Easter (egg)
Hope it's not late this year.

MissAdventure Thu 08-Feb-18 16:11:39

I've not only 'fallen off the wagon', I think it has run me over and reversed a couple of times to do a good job of it. blush
Bad day all round, one way and another. Sigh.

Tegan2 Thu 08-Feb-18 16:08:03

Made some miso soup today and really enjoyed it. Had some packets of instant miso that I've had for ages; tried them and liked it. So got a jar of miso from Holland and Barrett with a free coupon I had and mixed it in with a vegetable stock cube, mushrooms and bio yoghurt. Going to make my own vegetable stock to use next time. If I have miso and quinoa in one day will I turn into Gwyneth Paltrow?

OldMeg Thu 08-Feb-18 13:49:26

cavewoman less tired this morning and motivated by my weight loss, so tackled those carrots and made a huge pan of carrot and ginger soup. Just had a bowl for lunch and, though I say it myself, it was yummy.

I’ll bear that in mind Tegan ?

Well done on you 2lb NannyJan and that sounds like a very healthy and frugalish breakfast.

Tegan2 Thu 08-Feb-18 11:43:06

Remember that 'latent heat of vaporisation' thing that we did in chemistry [or was it physics]. I think weight is like that. You seem to reach a certain weight where the weight suddenly stops coming off for ages.

OldMeg Thu 08-Feb-18 08:39:44

Yes, NannyJan those last few pounds can be the hardest of all to shift. According to a BMI calculator I also need to lose another 5lb. But we’re getting there ?
