I’m a pear !

I have returned to my own healthy eating plan as I need to lose a stone. I am pear shaped with a small bust, reasonable waist and overlarge hips.

On reading the ever sensible Dr Scurr in the DM this morning I discovered a healthy waist size is 31 ins for women and 37 ins for men. I rather smugly measured myself expecting a pat on the back only to find I am 5 ins over the recommended size ?

Onward and upward or preferably downward.

GrannyIris I remember the days when I was 3 stone heavier. I saw a photo of myself and didn’t recognise that fat git was me ?.

It takes time, disappointment and then getting back on the wagon. Sorry if I sound self satisfied, I’m surprised more than anything.

Oops - we went out for lunch and I was good - salad. But guess what I just had for tea - tomato soup! Only one more portion left, but after eating a proper lunch for the first time in days DH has said it’s mine!

Shirleyw Thu 21-Mar-19 17:55:35

Lol grannyiris
Thanks girls....yes, nice to go down a size and then to eventually feel them getting lose too

GrannyIris5 Thu 21-Mar-19 09:35:50

Water weight from all that soup

NfkDumpling Thu 21-Mar-19 09:22:10

I managed to not put on any weight while on holiday - Costa Rica is very healthy! - but DH has been ill the last few days and not felt like eating. So soups for lunch (homemade veggie and tomato) and something on toast for dinner. I thought I’d maybe loose a little. But no. I’ve put on a pound!

GrannyIris5 Thu 21-Mar-19 07:29:39

If only NanKate, this excess has been around for a long time, it's not going to vanish overnight. DH has told the children (ha - adults) not to buy me alcohol for Mothering Sunday, let's hope they don't substitute chocolate instead. Going to Costco and I won't have time for lunch, I hope my DIL can keep me away from the trays of danish pastries.
Happy Thursday everyone.

Well done Shirley and Granny it’s such a good feeling when our clothes begin to feel loose or we have to buy a size smaller.

I still stand in front of the mirror and can’t believe I am no longer fat.

GrannyIris5 Wed 20-Mar-19 18:24:18

Ended up with sparkling mineral water and no ‘fruit’ in it. Well done Shirleyw, I need to buy smaller Sloggi’s getting VPL above my trouser waist lol. Pick food wisely ladies and if you want a biscuit don’t eat the whole packet.
I’m told via another group that the Save Money Lose Weight that was on ITV last night is worth a look. Shall download it to watch when DH has F1 or the footie on. Onwards and downwards xx

Lost one and half pounds this week, well pleased with that.

NanKate Mon 18-Mar-19 16:51:51

I meant to say GI a piece of mint is lovely in Mineral or any water, but maybe you have discovered it for yourself.

NanKate Mon 18-Mar-19 16:50:19

I’m a wally - half of no calories is no calories.

Enjoy your ukulele session.

GrannyIris5 Mon 18-Mar-19 16:45:43

Off to play ukulele tonight. Mineral water and a slice of lemon/lime. At least Mr Plod can get me for drink driving. I’ll tell peeps it’s got a gin in it.

NanKate Mon 18-Mar-19 15:29:39

And so you should be Dontask. What a great way to start the week.

If you get yourself some calorie free drink try mixing it half and half with water. It is still sweet and half the calories. I water down all my drinks, even a glass of wine. It fools me into thinking I have had a large glass ?

Dontaskme Mon 18-Mar-19 14:20:20

NanKate good idea about the fizzy drink to stave off hunger, I hadn't considered that. Will get some when I go shopping, thank you.
Just wanted to share as no-one at home seems to notice and it p's me off as its plain to see I've lost inches ………… I had a shirt that had got so tight I said I'd shrunk it in the tumble, although in reality I knew it was just because I'd erm, outgrown it smile. Couldn't even get the bottom 2 buttons done up sad. Today I tried it on. Its actually baggy!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm soooo pleased, not because I even like the shirt but because I have gone down a size or even two grin
I'm well chuffed !
All the best to everyone

NanKate Sun 17-Mar-19 19:02:12

Well done GI. I find if I can hold off for about 15 minutes when having a craving it usually passes.

GrannyIris5 Sun 17-Mar-19 16:34:14

If we’re confessing I had a Magnum after lunch. Fancied another but decided on a Twinings licorice tea instead.

NanKate Sun 17-Mar-19 16:04:32

I agree Shirley it’s all about having a fun blow out, but immediately getting back on the wagon.

It sounds as if you had a great time Fourormore. I had a piece of Christmas cake today out of the freezer, it was yummy. Taking things carefully now.

Onward and downward dear losers. ?

Shirleyw Sun 17-Mar-19 13:26:34

You will soon knock offs those 3lbs fourormore....was lovely to have a short break away...like you say, life's too short and alongs one gets back on track straight after the small damage will soon go...

fourormore Sun 17-Mar-19 11:46:31

grin GrannyIris it was just a short break coach trip!
My normal breakfast (small bowl of meusli) was replaced by grapefruit and prunes, followed by cooked breakfast! Available every morning was - grilled bacon, sausages, fried egg, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, tomatoes, baked beans, fried bread and toast! Obviously you wouldn't have everything but temptation is hard to resist! I did stick to bacon, scrambled eggs and either tomatoes or beans and no fried bread or toast, but it was still far more than I would ever cook at home!
The same with dinner in the evening - starter, main course, sweet and tea/coffee.
What's a girl supposed to do!
We didn't have much in the day though honestly! hmm We also walked a fair bit on the various excursions but sat on the coach for an hour or more to get to and from the various places we visited.
I knew I wouldn't get away with it but am happy it wasn't worse! blush
GrannyIris if you want to know the company etc. I will PM you - just let me know smile

GrannyIris5 Sun 17-Mar-19 11:24:06

Where did you stay, do you recommend it. The food was obviously good ?

fourormore Sun 17-Mar-19 11:18:40

Morning everyone!
Isn't it great having so many join us!!! Welcome everyone - we all have our different systems and they all seem to work, which proves that we are all different! What works for some doesn't work for others!
DH's birthday surprise went well - last Sun morning he was told he had 22hrs to pack as we were going on a 4nt short break the next morning!
We had a lovely time and the dinner, bed and breakfast was all good! I knew I was going to overeat but, as someone said, life is too short and we both really needed a break.
I approached 'Weigh-in' this morning with trepidation as you can imagine hmm and I have put on 3lbs sad
However, life is too short and I am back on track now - hopefully I will get rid of that this coming week - onward and downward!
Good luck to everyone else as we start another weekflowers

Dontask losing weight is not for the faint hearted it’s a blooming hard slog at times. I find the sugar free Sevenup fills me up, worth a try.

Dontaskme Sat 16-Mar-19 07:01:48

Hello everyone and well done to all smile.
I had to take someone to an appointment this week and while waiting got tempted by the grub on offer nearby - had a large veggie fry up and was amazed that I could scoff the lot and would have had room for more, even though that is the first "meal" I've had in 2 months! My huge stomach hasn't shrunk sad so I still feel hungry, and I mean really hungry, all the time!

Determined to keep going and think I've lost a bit more, although have decided not to use the scales at home but wait and see the Nurse at the surgery every month or so. I'm going for 52lbs in 5 months which is achievable even if it is blooming hard!

Woken up early today which I hate as more hours awake means more hours of denial! Also its the weekend so DH is around tucking in to anything he fancies, including crisps and sweeties angry Ah well, he'll be sorry when its time for the special occasion I'm losing weight for and he can't fit in his suit smile

All the best to everyone

Shirleyw Fri 15-Mar-19 21:26:36

I have porridge for breakfast with banana and blueberries....keeps me going till lunch time.....

NanKate Fri 15-Mar-19 20:19:47

My diet is anything I want in much smaller portions.

One weetabix, mixed nuts 20g, fat free Greek yog, spoonful of mixed fruit. Tea.

Coffee

Apple, 6 crisps, half of a chicken Caesar wrap. Sugar free 7 up, filled half way with water.

Tea, half a slim fast bar.

Chicken arribatta, peas, then spoonful of fruit with dollop of Greek Yog.

As it is Friday a half can of coke, slug of Bacardi, ice and lemon.

This is more than I used to have when losing weight. Some days I eat less.
