I’m a pear !

I have returned to my own healthy eating plan as I need to lose a stone. I am pear shaped with a small bust, reasonable waist and overlarge hips.

On reading the ever sensible Dr Scurr in the DM this morning I discovered a healthy waist size is 31 ins for women and 37 ins for men. I rather smugly measured myself expecting a pat on the back only to find I am 5 ins over the recommended size ?

Onward and upward or preferably downward.

I read something on Facebook earlier where the lady had the perfect waist size, but only if she was 6’ 7”, poor lady was 5’ and not much more.
I don’t eat breakfast but have 2 glasses of water and 2 black coffees before I leave for work.
The last of my oats I made flapjacks with, super recipe on gransnet.

Nankate that's an amazing achievement! Well done!
I'll read the posts later, but I'm doing a mix of a Slimming World plan (loosely interpreted!) and the 5/2 but I'm finding it difficult to stick to fasting days. I'm actually focusing on eating really healthily, predominantly a wide range of veg, fruit, beans, pulses etc with some chicken and fish and minimal red meat. We cook from scratch mostly and I love spices and herbs in cooking. My aim is to be as healthy as possible, and yes, I'd love to be a healthier weight. Managed to lose quite a bit about 18months ago sticking to SW (I do it online) but since then my weight has crept up again a little and I want to stop the rot. I am small - thought I was 5' but hospital measurements now say 4'11" so I'm still in the obese category and I don 't want to be. Still, I have managed to drop clothes sizes over the last couple of years from 18 on top and 20 bottom to 14/16, so I'm pleased at that.
My stomach is a problem - huge and floppy! - a real Grannytummy. Hate my legs and bum. Thank goodness for tunics!

What does everyone have for breakfast and does it quell the hunger pangs later on? Mine is do-it-yourself muesli with jumbo oats, oat bran, ground flax seed, mixed seeds, nuts and some defrosted red fruits, with some soya or oat milk on. I love it and it usually keeps the pangs away but it's late afternoon I find tricky (nibble wise)

Thank you Baden, Granny and Nan. The best thing about losing all that weight? well, two sizes smaller in dress (whoopee), the downside is that I feel permanently cold despite wearing 2/3 layers of clothing. Has anyone else experienced this?

Welcome Rowntree. We are a great group of losers. No one criticises we just encourage each other. We are all following our paths to weight loss.

The best thing for me about my weight loss is when I went for my annual medical my weight wasn’t mentioned as I was almost within my weight limit for my height and age.

Very well done oldand mega weight loss.

Weighed in this morning (doing it weekly by myself but following ww), and depressed to find I hadn't lost anything this week sad. Then I thought, well I'm back to where I was before Christmas and the same weight I was before Christmas 2017, so that's good smile. And then I put on a pair of trousers that had definitely been tight before and fit fine now grin! So today isn't too bad after all!

May I join you too? I've always been a pear but for years I've been an obese pear. Joined SW online two years ago, lost 10kg and stalled. I now fluctuate, have put on some weight and lost it again, but I'm still trying. Trying to eat mainly veg based diet for health but puds or cake when we eat out, wine on social occasions and occasional piggery are my downfall. ’

Thats great nankate....maintaining is not easy, you must have it just right.
I lost 1 lb this week, am well pleased with that.

Ok thank you NanKate, at least you didn’t gain anything such a bonus. I’m only going to weigh twice a month and measure too. Got 2 pairs of jeans that feel too baggy so have put them away and found another couple of slightly smaller ones to wear. Got drawers full of stuff that doesn’t fit ‘yet’ lol. Have a healthy eating day/fasting day ladies

Just realised this morning I had not weighed myself for about 5 weeks !! Happily I have managed to stay the same weight. I hope at last I have worked out how much I can eat to remain stable. It's taken me long enough to find out.

How are the rest of you getting on ?

36lbs is very impressive Oldand keep going.

BadenKate you are very welcome. We are a friendly bunch all on our own paths to lose weight. We have our ups and downs but still keep ploughing on.

I too try to get out and walk every day which lifts my spirits as well as being good for us.

Onward and downward ?

Now lost 36lb in seven months, got another 9lbs to go, must be easier to climb the north face of the Eiger than to shift these remaining few lbs!

Could I join you ladies? I'm desperately trying to lose weight for health reasons. I developed an irregular heartbeat 2 years ago, and get very tired if I do too much exercise, and I also had mobility problems last year so I couldn't do anything for 3 months until the ligaments etc healed. Added to that the medication I'm on is not good for weight loss!

However, I'm determined to loose at least 3 stone and I've joined WW on-line (not very good in groups), go for short walk every day and gym twice a week. So far in 2 weeks I've lost about 4lbs, so onward and downward. It would be really nice to have somewhere chatty to keep me going!

Little blip this week which I expected as been manic with grabbed lunches etc. so up a pound. However, as I know why, I am fine with that.
This coming week doesn't look promising as it's DH bday treat - short break with DBB - so always eat more at times like that. I will be aware though and whatever happens this coming week I will be back on track next weekend!

Don't be disheartened Shirley
The reason I weigh every Sunday morning is that I then have my Sunday lunch (and other treats ALL on that day) but I don't freak out about the calories.
Having my 'Sinday' gives me a break from dieting, but if I 'behave' from Mon-Sat inclusive I am usually ok by the time 'weigh-in' comes around again and find that I can focus more through the week if I have Sinday to look forward to!
Sundays are not convenient though for those going to weigh-in at SW meetings etc. I appreciate that.
You know why you gained weight so don't worry about having this blip - put it behind you now and start again. Tomorrow is another day!
