I’m a pear !

I have returned to my own healthy eating plan as I need to lose a stone. I am pear shaped with a small bust, reasonable waist and overlarge hips.

On reading the ever sensible Dr Scurr in the DM this morning I discovered a healthy waist size is 31 ins for women and 37 ins for men. I rather smugly measured myself expecting a pat on the back only to find I am 5 ins over the recommended size ?

Onward and upward or preferably downward.

Panache I posted last week asking GNers to send me a bag of willpower
Well it worked!
Ist slimming world weigh in last night and I have lost 6lbs.
I do know (having attended many a slimming class over the years) that the first weeks loss it is mostly water as opposed to actual fat.
Next week I would be very happy to shift a pound or two of fatsmile

Forwarding the bag of willpower to my fellow GNers to be used as required
(having of course kept a little back) sunshine

It’s not fair is it Panache we are all struggling either to put the weight on or take it off. As a child I was called ‘the little one’ I certainly can’t take that name now. ?

Panache Tue 22-May-18 17:21:21

I think I need to send Mrs Willpower to each of your homes!!...........whilst I am still making no headway in gaining weight............Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Teetime Tue 22-May-18 17:04:29

Indeed it would. Unfortunatley I sort of made a cake and ate some today.

NanKate Tue 22-May-18 15:51:11

Teetime only had that wonderful food in the house because my oldest friends drove 100+ Miles to be with me for the Wedding as I was alone AND they brought the lunch I would have been rude to refuse it ?

Teetime Tue 22-May-18 09:40:23

Hallo all two weeks in and only 2lbs lost but at least its not going on and I am eating healthily. Also today I found I can get a soft trainer on (well my golf shoes but I will get the version without studs from Sketcher) and next week I should be off crutches and allowed to walk a little(depending on the x ray) so hopefully the weight will come off.
I hope you are all happy and well. Just to say NanKate if I had that lot in my house I would eat it as well... I hope you enjoyed it. smile

It was my designated day off Mawbroon I had warned you all. Now back on my regime.

Sorry to hear about your leg.

NanKate Mon 21-May-18 17:04:28

Well done Jane4D keep at it, a really good result for you.

Fourormore I think the two of us are the strugglers but we will get there in the end like the tortoise and the hare.

Not heard from Teetime for a while must check her out.

MawBroon Mon 21-May-18 17:01:07

I drank two and a half glasses of sparkling, crisps, olives, cheese wrapped in ham, mozzarella cheese, choc ginger biscuit, two chocs, half a meringue and cream and this is as well as a s sandwich lunch and stuffed pepper and salad supper

A GN version of the “very hungry caterpillar”?
I seem to have gained a lb but my right leg is very swollen (thrombophlebitis)) so I am thinking it may be fluid retention? Or maybe pinching the odd chip from the DGCs?

Panache Mon 21-May-18 16:40:34

Chin up............pounds down........keep going girls, sadly there will be a few hiccups along the way, but just think of the day you each hit your targets.
There will be such rejoicing.

fourormore Mon 21-May-18 16:22:10

Well done Jane! Keep it up everyone! I am still miffed at having put on last week but did lots of walking today so fingers crossed for next Sunday.

JaneD3 Mon 21-May-18 08:54:47

Very surprised to find I lost weight over the weekend - something to do with two toddlers, escaping chickens and a puppy perhaps? Now at 2st 12lbs. That is 8 lbs since we started this thread.

fourormore Sun 20-May-18 10:28:42

grin Nankate !!! Even I wasn't that bad haha!
New week new start!

fourormore Sun 20-May-18 10:26:33

Bless you Panache! I know where you could get 9lbs from (and more!) but sadly it doesn't work that way - as you say life is so unfair at times.
Sunday morning weigh in not good - somehow I have put on nearly a pound and a half angry
I have to blame the wedding as yesterday was the only day all week when I admit I was a couch potato.
Never mind - no point in fretting - today is sin-day so a few little treats are lined up. I will be more aware today but it will have to be a concentrated effort from tomorrow as it's just four weeks to my holiday.
Good luck everyone (including you Panache - you are so encouraging to us all as hopefully we can be for you!) as we start a new week! flowers

Panache Sun 20-May-18 10:02:10

That is not much of an example to show the other dieters NanKate..............I am SOOOOOOOOOOO surprised at you!!!!!

Whilst you are all trying to shed those pounds, spare a thought for poor me, I am on a mission (directed by Medics) to gain 9 pounds by the 29th of this month.
I have managed a whole 3 pounds after much struggling let me say ............only to have again lost another pound............grrrrrrrrrrr

Doesn`t life seem so unfair at times?

I am certainly very much at the opposite side of your scales girls....... yet I urge you all............give it your best.

It is lonely here...... all bone with not a lot of flesh to give me back my womanly curves!

sunshine and flowers for all .

NanKate Sun 20-May-18 09:47:21

Morning fellow slimmers.

Well I took yesterday off for the wedding and I quickly saw myself slipping back into my old habits of grazing.

I drank two and a half glasses of sparkling, crisps, olives, cheese wrapped in ham, mozzarella cheese, choc ginger biscuit, two chocs, half a meringue and cream and this is as well as a s sandwich lunch and stuffed pepper and salad supper. All of this extra food must have undone the previous few days abstinence. So let that be a lesson to me.

Back on the calorie counting again.

How did you folks do ?

JaneD3 Thu 17-May-18 22:53:18

We are babysitting this weekend so no time for weddings! Also, not much control over what we eat. Ho hum !

fourormore Thu 17-May-18 21:47:45

Knew I'd lost something haha! grin
I have been convinced all day that today is Friday but that's senior moments for you!
One consolation is that I have an extra day of discipline before I weigh again on Sunday. Fingers crossed.
I am lucky (or unlucky?) that I am on some medication at the moment so will be alcohol free for the wedding - pain but helps the calorie count so every cloud ... hmm

Overthehills Thu 17-May-18 21:15:29

That sounds good to me NanKate except that I’ll only be in my third day! Thanks for the calorie counting tip, I’ll start that straightaway.
Onward and downward!

NanKate Thu 17-May-18 20:31:34

Fourormore I think you food restriction has had the effect of making you lose a day, the wedding is on Saturday ?

NanKate Thu 17-May-18 20:28:47

Right team it seems that we are all of the same mind to keep at it.

My plan for the wedding is to have one or two glasses of sparkling and any meal I fancy within reasonable bounds and the rest of the day I will revert to calorie counting. How does that sound ?

Cherrytree59 Thu 17-May-18 19:42:06

Thank you
Both NanKate &
fourormore

I have to agree a pound is almost half a bag of sugar or two blocks of lard.
Years ago an old slimming club leader (yep I have been to numerous slimming clubs over the years) used blocks of lard to demonstrate the members weight losses.

So far I have managed to stay on plan today
and I take on board what you said NanKate about doing both the Slimming world plan and 18/6 together.

Onwards and downwardssmile

fourormore Thu 17-May-18 19:18:27

NanKate and Jane - a pound is a pound! It's going the right way! It is disappointing though when we don't see the result we want but we will persevere!
Love the idea of the Onward and Downward march!
Think we all may slip a little tomorrow with the wedding?
By the way - my invitation still hasn't arrived sad
Don't forget that tomorrow is just ONE day, if we slip we can behave for the rest of the week and I don't think we'll be having the feast that 'they' will be having!
Good luck everyone!

NanKate Thu 17-May-18 17:11:02

Hi All,

Sorry I am late in reporting in. It was my weigh in day I have stuck to my calorie counting and have also lost 1 lb like you Jane I am disappointed as I thought it would be at least 2 lbs, but I am continuing as it will be so nice to swivel my trousers a little and health wise I will get better and better.

Overthehills I keep my scales on the table top with a small bowl so I can weigh quickly what I am eating. I note down the calorie count of everything and only have to weigh things once and then consult my chart. It’s getting easier all this calorie counting.

Look fwd to hearing how others are coping.

Shall we march down Windsor High Street carrying our banner Onward and Downward ⬇️ ?

Overthehills Thu 17-May-18 14:36:58

My first day - weighed myself this morning and I was right, I need to lose a stone. Am counting calories and trying to up the vegetables intake. It’ll be a bind having to weigh things but ?? it’ll be worth it. Being overweight is getting me down so much ... Good luck everybody - onward and downward!
