Our 5:2 G.W.I.

Okay everyone...
Tomorrow is the 1st of the month and so log in to record your interest if you are keen to have a monthly ‘Grand Weigh In’ to chart your 5:2 progress.

The idea is to have a separate forum for this - as a place to see whether weight has been maintained, gained or lost in comparison to the 1st day of the previous month.

Tomorrow (01/02/19) will be for all who’d like to ‘register’ their interest.

There is a separate forum up & running for mutual support and ideas on the diet already.

I lost weight before (ages ago) when I followed the 5.2, but fell off the wagon ?, and never did climb back on. The 16.8 worked quite well, but then I got stuck and fell off that wagon, too.
The weight is piling back on, so I'm going to have to do the 5.2 again - and stick at it. Arthritis in knee and foot demand I do something!

I’m doing 16-8 so fasting for 16 hours out of 24 with only black tea, black coffee or water and then eating a mainly low carb, low processed diet in the 8 hour window. So far in 2 weeks I’ve lost 9lbs. Still have the odd glass of wine/ g&t. ?
Added benefit has been less bloating and less constipation/more regularity.

No. And I’ve lost the plot. I didn’t fit into my summer dresses and at this rate a Santa Suit will be snug!

I'd also be interested if those who started are still following this way of eating.

Problem is, as with all "diets" it's easy to start enthusiastically and then it drops off. It has to become part of a regular pattern which is maintained for life.

Is anyone still doing the 5.2 diet? I really must do something about myself and am wondering if this diet has been working for people?

Shysal your not in your own, I haven't gained either. I need to try harder. I'm going to have my gallblader removed in November, so want to be as well as possible.Going to up my excerise, and cut out the rubbish, fingers crossed for us all .

Again no weight loss to report, but at least I haven't gained. Will get down to it seriously eventually. Hope others have been more successful.

Be careful with fasting and losing weight quickly.I've just discovered I have gallstones, apparently can be caused by rapid weight loss and irregular eating patterns.

I lost a lot of weight many years ago and it was a very slow affair but I stuck at it. Over a year my eating habits changed and I was less tempted to overeat,.
Medics say 1.5-2 lbs a week is the max you should loose to be healthy, so don't be disheartened. Even a half a poun d is a step in the right direction. But be honest with youself and check that you are sticking to your eating plan; don't beat yourself up but do be honest with yourself

2lb off for me.Rubbish considering I've lost 7lb all year. I havent been trying or even thinking about it for the last three months. Moving house and mum being in hospital at the same time have been very stressful besides a 101 other things.I could write a book ! ? Good luck to everyone one else, hope your having a better time than me and can remain focused and happy.

Michael Mosely was on TV this morning with his wife promoting their Fast 800 cookbook. They claim that using a kick start of 800 cals every day for 2 weeks then going to 5:2, a stone can be lost in 4 weeks. I ought to give it a try.

Having yo-yo dieted for much of my adult life (at least for the past 30 years), at the age of 60, I've joined Slimming World. In 3 weeks, I've lost 6.5lb. I'm a bit disappointed with that, as I'd hoped it would be more, but it's better than putting it on!

I'm feeling very happy, I have moved house and packed away my scales, no idea were they are.At the moment we're having a new kitchen fitted and a new boiler so fear they may be lost for some time.I feel the same weight
( fat ) so hoping to get back on track soon smile

Had a lovely time in Cornwall and have gained about 5 pounds ??.

It has been a bit of an obstacle race because although I got over the winter bug I was left with a bad cough and kept having days when I was feeling less than well (so skipped fast days) and was away a lot (when fast days were impossible).

However I have lost a total 6lbs to date, with a month or so when I am mainly at home ahead of me.

The down side is that when I saw the nurse about my couching and unwellness, she measured my height before getting me to do a lung capacity test and I have shrunk another inch so probably need to loose 4 or 5 lbs more than I intended to get my BMI to the approved level. hmm

Katyj I’m using intermittent fasting, or not eating every other day, apart from weekends. Haven’t cut anything out, so still having ice cream, roast potatoes and odd biscuits. pm me for more info.
Hi loopyloo, our exercise bike blew up, but saddle was so uncomfortable. Don’t do any exercise apart from walking, not far and normal activity

I used to have an exercise bike at home, loopyloo, but soon got bored with it. I would watch TV at the same time, which I thought would motivate me. I sweat a lot when exercising so got fed up with having to change clothes to do it and then shower and change again. I have also tried a rowing machine, a twisty base thing, and even a folding multi-gym at various times in my life, but it was never long before I neglected them. Same old story with me, no staying power! The only thing that I have stuck with for many years is doing classes, I really love them. Unfortunately my RA has prevented me attending for a while, and I do miss them. I am still able to walk, doing 10,000 steps most days but even though I am determined to keep doing it, it still is becoming a bit of a chore. I hope you find something that suits you.

May I join you people? Before Christmas, was doing well, below 13 st now up to 13 5. So new start, low carb etc. Problem is boredom mainly. And lack of discipline.
Eating out so difficult might join a gym again. Does anyone use an exercise bike at home?

Actually if I could lose a bit, I would imagine it would spur me on.

It’s losing those first 3 - 4 lbs ....

Oh dear.

1. I’d forgotten the date

2. I’ve been intermittently on the 5:2 only done 4 fast days in May

3. I’ve gained 1lb. my own fault - so in total since January I’ve lost 5lbs. Rubbish, but what I deserve for my lack of willpower

Seems I can talk the talk .....

I so wanted to be slimmer for summer. Was even going to treat myself to a couple of new dresses. I have little interest in buying clothes at this size and seem to spend money buying bags and shoes instead.

I feel deflated this morning to be honest. And can only blame myself for it.

I hope others have done better than me (not difficult).
