Oh Whiff glad you are ok although the bruise sounds awful. I had no idea blood thinners could cause that to happen!
Glad your shirt and jacket are good for another day.

On 08 May 2018 I started this thread for those who wanted to lose weight and have a healthier lifestyle. Many people have joined up and many pounds lost and a few gained.
We now have a small band of ‘regulars’ called Pears and Apples who have joined our ranks and they have brought new ideas and support. Many thanks girls what would I do without you all. I am so grateful you have stayed so loyal and been such good friends to us all.
Do join us the rules are simple.
Choose your own style of diet plan.
Check in regularly with a report of the highs and lows of the diet.
Have an occasional binge but get back on the wagon ASAP.
Pass on any useful diet tips.
So for example I started calorie counting with the NHS Diet Plan. I now eat what I like but make portion control my way of life.
You have nothing to lose, other than weight, on this thread.
Our mantra is - Eat Less for Life.
Oh Whiff glad you are ok although the bruise sounds awful. I had no idea blood thinners could cause that to happen!

SachaMac the stain came out of my shirt and jacket. After a soak in cold water before washing ..
Oh my goodness Whiff I hope you’re ok and managed to get the stain out of your shirt. My mouth is watering at the thought of a cinnamon bun. Have a great week all.
NanKate glad I made you laugh. Hopefully in the church again tomorrow in the cool . We had a storm last night but it's already 24° in my living room that's with the curtains mostly shut.
SachaMac so glad you enjoyed your Irish holiday. Hopefully I will go next year if not in 2025. I have already decided to fly to Cork and stay there I don't drive but am sure I will find day trips to go on.
Four it's a loss and that's a win.
Lost 1.25 lbs this week no idea how. Mind you did loss some blood . Had a blood test at GPs on Thursday did tell the nurse I was on blood thinners. Hadn't seen her before. Didn't hurt her taking it. And she put a big wad of cotton wool on and micro tape. On the bus felt my arm was wet. As it was a fasting test went to cafe for breakfast which was a very wicked cinnamon bun and dark hot chocolate they make it with real chocolate. Took my navy cotton jacket off and found this. I will post the picture below incase anyone does like the sight of blood . The young woman got me the first aid kit and gave me wipes a 2 large blue plasters.
The bruise is from one end of the crease in my arm to the other. It doesn't hurt. Seeing her on 27th so will show her the picture. As I like to face people if I have a problem.
Both my jacket and shirt went into cold water for hours then used vanish bar before washing.
Have a good week pears. May the force be with you ( will power force 🤣).
Another disappointing result after a week of real effort but I did lose half a pound which is better than nothing!
Our motto on this thread is that we never give up - it's easier said than done but somehow we all manage to hang on in there!
Keep up the good work fellow strugglers - we are all in this together!
Hello all & welcome Bikergran hope everyone is doing ok. I am back from my Ireland trip, I haven’t weighed in (go back next Thursday as I booked two holiday weeks) I’m pretty sure I’ve gained but I’m avoiding my scales. Whiff you are so right, Ireland is beautiful & the food is so good. I indulged in the odd Guinness of course!! It was a wonderful holiday though and life is for living after all. I will definitely go back there as soon as I get the chance, hope you get back there soon too Whiff
Back on track for me now, good luck everyone.
You have given me a laugh Whiff I too can hear the elephants and hear the music. 🦣🐘🦣🐘
You do well with your home grown veg whiff , we’ve grown kale, spring cabbage and carrots and lettuce this year. I feel as though we have all the proper vitamins/minerals when we cut the veg straight from the garden to the steamer within minutes.
Stayed the same this week. Went to Pilates last night, missed it last week, I can always tell I missed a week lol.
Great results with your gardening Whiff.
I have a few tomato, pepper and kale plants which are thriving in the hot weather here (B.C. Canada). 30 C this afternoon so it's easy living with salads and fruit. Might pop out for a salted caramel icecream this evening. We need the odd treat don't we!
When I’m doing housework I sometimes think of the Mickey Mouse Sorcerers Apprentice scene in Fantasia and hum the music.
That's what I love about this thread no one gives up. We just start again and keep going. And I for one know one day I will win but in the mean time keep plodding alone.
At my exercise class on Monday we did it in the church instead of the cafe as it was 25°in there. It was lovely and cool in the church. But when we did our sit down marching it was very loud and put me in mind of the Disney jungle book when the elephants where marching along. So me being me said it out loud . Not everyone got the reference. But others thought it was 🤣. Things like that pop into my mind all the time at odd moments. Yes I know I am weird 😂
Well done Maybee you have been brave, weighed yourself, identified what you need to cut back on. You are on a roll. 👍
Oh joy. I’ve definitely put on inches but I haven’t put the weight on that I thought I had! I even weighed myself twice to double check. So from today I’m hopefully going to get back on track. And try to do some exercise. Will start a food diary again. Starting now.
I’ve got to bite the bullet and weigh myself. I’ve also got to stop making smoothies. I always put weight on when I drink them as I put so much into them. The trouble is I discovered the combination of red peppers and chocolate and have become addicted to it! That combined with working on my house and snacking on bread because sandwiches are so much easier than cooking a meal: oh and also trying to use up my covid lockdown stockpile means that I haven’t been meal planning. I’ve also not been doing the 16:8 or 14:10 which worked so well for me. I might go and weigh myself now. It’s the longest I’ve ever gone without weighing myself but I need to acknowledge the fact that I’ve put on pounds! Here goes….
I trusted my memory this week instead of counting calories properly and guess what, no loss! I’m annoyed with myself for not doing what I know works. So have given myself a stern taking to and have taken up the reins again. Learn by my mistakes Losers and good luck!
Bikergran it takes eating 3,500 cals more than your body needs to lose 1lb. As we all have different body shapes , metabolisms and life style it can take a few weeks to work out which way to eat less for life to pinch NanKate's mantra. But you can do it . It's a marathon not a sprint as I often say. Took me decades to realise that.
Well done to the losers . After starting off being strict beginning of the week from Thursday over eat . Luckily stayed the same weight. Any staying the same or put on . Like me you haven't given up and that's the hardest thing to do.
Been a hot week here this week and set to continue. At least got my winter coats washed and air dried even re waterproofed my Regatta jackets. Time gardening was limited as it was so hot. The picture is my first harvest of Pak choi. Read up and said you could cut the leaves or leave bulb to form. Had enough leaves to fill 3 medium freezer bags. Had already harvested some chard and kale growing in my greenhouse and will soon be ready to cut again. Love the fact you can cut leaves and as long as you leave the roots intact you can get multiple harvests. My first time growing broad beans and have flowers. My toms are growing quickly in the greenhouse. My french beans ,rocket ,tom plants and chard outside in pots are all looking healthy. Have strawberries forming. And my husband said I had a black thumb.
I don't have a hose pipe so using a watering can. Extra steps and carrying weight good exercise but I only water my veg plants. Got my exercise class this afternoon. Glad there are no more bank holidays for months. As missed 3 classes in May due to them. Fun enough I can do the exercises easier than I can walk . No matter how I feel I still go if I let pain and my body stop me then I wouldn't do anything and that's no way to live.
No craft group this week as the library closed as they are having all new book shelves on wheels and a load of new books. Did more talking last week than cross stitch balance off which effects my concentration. But I love going made real friends there people who help eachother. Mind you, you need to be open minded as the topics can get rather racey 🤣. We are an odd ball mix but we just clicked . Funny how much my life has changed since my moving to the north west but never want to go back to the West Midlands. My quality of life has changed so much . I no longer just exist but live my life to the full.
We'll have a good week fruits . X
Lost the 1.2lb I put on last week so am happy with that. Like TillyTrotter and many others I seem to put on a bit, lose it, lose a bit, put it back - no real progress but we will plod on!
Good luck everyone!
Enjoy the sunshine!
Hi Bikergran 👋.
I am losing a pound a week on average but sometimes it goes back on. Like this week.
Now the weather is warm salads are on the menu and I will try and do without the mayonnaise (I love) .
Enjoy the summer fruits everyone - they are abundant now and have real taste - I bought Strawberries from Sainsbury’s this week and they are sweet and large! 🍓 (No cream or sugar needed).
Hi Bikergran pleased to see you have joined our great band of Losers. We follow many different types of eating plans, give support and the most important thing we don’t give up.
My mantra is ‘Eating Less for Life’.
You will certainly get support from the Pears and Apples here.
Trawl through this thread and see what appeals to you.
Thankyou

Welcome Bikergran!
So glad to hear things are better Whiff. You are such an encouragement to us that it’s sad when you’re down. I’ve been losing on average a pound a week which I’m really happy with and don’t feel that I’m depriving myself too much! I’m counting calories and watching portion size and also not wearing baggy clothes to hide the lumps and bumps as I’m hoping this will encourage/remind me - does that make sense?! Well done everybody who has lost and keep going all who haven’t. One of the first things I learned from this thread was “don’t give up”! Good luck everyone!
I’ve looked after the grandchildren twice this week. First day resulted in me sleeping for 14 hours afterwards. Had a day off and had them again today and I’ve ended up crashing out on the sofa, drank a huge smoothie but then ate loads of crisps( it’s the sort of thing I do when I’m tired). I should have gone straight to sleep. I’m still scared to weigh myself. Still can’t get a grip on things. Having some windows replaced soon so need to move furniture around. It’s all getting a bit too much to be honest.
