Hi everyone. I am returning to the fold after being very busy for a few weeks. I hope to lose 7lbs before DS flies over for a summer holiday. Good luck all.

I’m a Pear/Apple - Part 4. Yabadabadoo !
(1001 Posts)On 08 May 2018 I started this thread for those who wanted to lose weight and have a healthier lifestyle. Many people have joined up and many pounds lost and a few gained.
We now have a small band of ‘regulars’ called Pears and Apples who have joined our ranks and they have brought new ideas and support. Many thanks girls what would I do without you all. I am so grateful you have stayed so loyal and been such good friends to us all.
Do join us the rules are simple.
Choose your own style of diet plan.
Check in regularly with a report of the highs and lows of the diet.
Have an occasional binge but get back on the wagon ASAP.
Pass on any useful diet tips.
So for example I started calorie counting with the NHS Diet Plan. I now eat what I like but make portion control my way of life.
You have nothing to lose, other than weight, on this thread.
Our mantra is - Eat Less for Life.
Hi all, some good losses and plenty of determination amongst us Pears. I hope everyone is well and looking forward to the Easter weekend. It’s been cold here today but the sun finally came out late this afternoon.
I weighed in at SW this morning and I am very happy to say I lost another 1.5lbs, making a total of 8lbs, Im enjoying staying to the group & I got my first half stone award. Our consultant spoke about strategies to deal with Easter and how allowing yourself a few planned treats can work for you, if we try to be too strict it can just backfire. Shocking to think that one creme egg is 9.5 syns out of my allowance of 10 to 15 per day (a hot cross bun without any butter is similar)
Have a great Easter all and good luck on whatever plan you are doing.
Thank you Whiff .
You’re back on track VioletSky and I must join you soon, I have promised myself to make a mega effort next week -
after the Easter Sunday roast meal I have offered to make for the family.
I recently got rid of a painful thigh which meant I struggled to walk up hills or even small inclines. It started when I found I had Shingles but seems to have calmed down now.
Good time!
I guess Food time works too lol
Sorry TillyTrotter Salter. Think they where about £20. The one I have got is white and it has a very clear weight display. And the weight stays on for a few minutes before it goes off.
MayBee hope your knee feels better soon. If I hurt a leg it's always my left which my worst one . Sods law🤷
Got the family staying this week so it’s difficult to stick to a proper diet eg we went out for the day today and ended up eating crisps and sandwiches etc. Will start again next week when I’ve got two weeks to do some serious dieting and exercise. The dog ran into my bad knee yesterday ( it’s always my bad knee) but I seem to have got away with it!
Do you mean “Salter” or “Slater” please Whiff ?
We can wipe the slate and start afresh every day which is a blessing Whiff . I think I will get some Slater scales as I have to confess I always get cheap ones.
I am old school too and think in stones, pounds and ounces when weighing myself.
We were blessed with one very sunny Spring day today . It’s the start of a new month and a new week and it has strengthened my resolve.
Onwards and downwards!
TillyTrotter I have Slater digital scales which shows in stones ,whole pounds and quarter of pounds. Can be changed to kilos but I am old school. I weigh myself naked on a Sunday morning standing up straight and count to 10 and get off and see what it says. I do weigh myself everyday but only count what I weigh on a Sunday. I had them from Argos. Have only ever brought Slater scales for bathroom and kitchen. Manual bathroom scales can be altered depending on where you stand but digital can't which is why I love them.
New day new start. The main thing is don't give up you will win in the end . Just be patient it's a marathon not a sprint.
I weighed and I have gained 2 pounds. Each pound equates to very nice meals I had out last week and I was darned well going to enjoy them.
Belated Happy Birthday wishes SachaMac . 💐
May I ask what type of scales any of you have if it shows point 2 lbs (for example)? Mine seem to only jump up and down on whole pound slots.
“Good work” last week’s losers.
Shirley well done with the brilliant loss. Have a great time with your family over Easter.
Anther good weight loss sachamac and kissingate that’s brill. On the SW do you eat a lot of pasta or rice as it’s free.? My daughter does SW and eats a fair bit of pasta, she still loses….I’m surprised by that….
A quarter is great whif…..enjoy your ice cream over Easter. We have family down Easter Saturday and I shall be doing an Easter Sunday dinner on the Saturday, I hope I can control myself lol.
I lost 1 and a quarter this week, very happy with that., nearly going into a lower stone bracket.
Weather seems to be getting more springlike this week after all that rain the other day. Have a good week guys…
kissngate that's a great weight loss. The main thing is you don't give up. And that's hard sticking to sensible eating every week, months and years. It becomes a way life after a while. That's the great thing about the pears we don't give up. 🤗
Since joining SW results so far:
Week 1 loss 2.8
Week 2 maintain
Week 3 0.8 gain
Week 4 loss 3lb
so 5lb loss in four weeks happy with that. Will see if I can resist Choc over Easter. Onwards and downwards everyone.
Thanks for the Birthday wishes Whiff I had a nice day but did go off plan a little! Remember 1/4lb is half a block of butter gone from somewhere and every little helps. Enjoy the Easter Egg hunt.
I agree with you TillyTrotter it’s difficult to resist chocolate when it’s everywhere at the moment. I’ve seen some Blueberry and lemon hot cross buns in our local Coop today, I may treat myself over Easter and count as my syns 😋
Have a great week everyone, let’s hope we get some sunshine this week
SachaMac happy birthday 🎂.. Brilliant weight lose again.
Four you must have been very restrained in your choices to only put a small amount on. Great will power.
Pleased to say I have lost this week only quarter of a pound but it's a loss and to me that's a win. Got a Sainsbury's delivery coming Wednesday so will be baking for my craft group on Thursday brownies and an apple cake . I always cater for everyone. One doesn't like cherries another can't have honey and another chocolate gives her reflux. I never like anyone to feel left out so make sure I cater for everyone. It's the same if anyone comes for a meal I make sure I don't do anything they don't or can't eat.
Got my grandson a week on Thursday while my daughter and son in law work. His brother will be at nursery . He already requested biscuits with strawberry in . Well they will be dried strawberry and white chocolate. He is going to be planting lots of seeds after we make the biscuits. It's that time of the year to start my veg plants off in the greenhouse plus there will be more kale, chard and rocket to harvest.
Not going to sit fit class tomorrow. Going to an Easter egg hunt at a local church. We went last year I pushed the buggy but my grandson is 2 now so my daughter will be chasing after him I will stick with his 5 year old brother. It's ok on his own as long as I can see him. There will be crafts ,drinks and games for them.
I have ordered ice cream as an Easter treat but the sort of I eat the whole tub which I will it's only 325 cals . So will cut back on my dinner cals.
Any way have a good week pears.
Like Tilly I was a bit reluctant to weigh this morning having had a five day short break with beautiful breakfasts and dinners but I bit the bullet with mixed feelings!!!
I am delighted to report a rise of just 1.4lbs which could have been a lot worse - but it has taken me back over the 180lb mark which was disappointing.
Still - the motto of the Pears is onwards and downwards - with a bit of extra effort this week hopefully the 'hundred and seventy something' will soon return - fingers crossed!
Good luck everyone as we continue our quest!!!
It’s a brilliant start SachaMac and SW is working well with you. I have still not braved the scales yet this week but don’t think I will see a loss.
Easter and all the chocolate around makes me lose focus - does anyone else find that?
I love your phrase “well done losers” Violet. 🙂
Thank you NanKate I’m feeling very focussed now, a way to go but it’s a great start.
Well done SachaMac at your loss through SW. That is an excellent loss in just 2 sessions.
A very Happy Birthday this weekend. 💐
Hi all, hope everyone is going ok. Well done Shirleyw that is a great loss, especially as you have been away, you must have made the right choices.
I’ve been for my second weigh in at SW this morning and I’m delighted to say I have lost another 2.5 lbs. Making my total loss in 2 weeks 6.5lbs, would have been nice to hit the half stone but I’m more than happy. I’ve gone into a different stone bracket which is also a boost. Ive been shopping to stock up again, I do seem to be spending more on food but I’m sure it will be worth it. Why is junk food so cheap and healthy fruit and veg etc so expensive in comparison. It’s my birthday at the weekend so I may struggle to stick to plan but I’m going to enjoy celebrating and pull it back on Monday. Good luck for your weigh ins everyone and thanks for all the support & encouragement we have on here.
Not much point weighing myself because of where I am on my hormonal cycle lol
I'll check in a few days
Well done losers!
Shirley well done with pound and half especially as you went away. That's shows strong determination to enjoy yourself but make wise decisions food wise.
Well done sachamac, 4 is a great loss.
I lost 1 and a half this week, pleased with that as we went away for the weekend, I did choose wisely.
Like you say whiff , least you can maintain, all good.
