Whiff I am so glad you have the heated pad for comfort. Hoping the sciatic nerve pain eases soon 💐

I’m a Pear/Apple - Part 4. Yabadabadoo !
(1001 Posts)On 08 May 2018 I started this thread for those who wanted to lose weight and have a healthier lifestyle. Many people have joined up and many pounds lost and a few gained.
We now have a small band of ‘regulars’ called Pears and Apples who have joined our ranks and they have brought new ideas and support. Many thanks girls what would I do without you all. I am so grateful you have stayed so loyal and been such good friends to us all.
Do join us the rules are simple.
Choose your own style of diet plan.
Check in regularly with a report of the highs and lows of the diet.
Have an occasional binge but get back on the wagon ASAP.
Pass on any useful diet tips.
So for example I started calorie counting with the NHS Diet Plan. I now eat what I like but make portion control my way of life.
You have nothing to lose, other than weight, on this thread.
Our mantra is - Eat Less for Life.
Good luck kissngate hope you do well. I’ve had a really good few days since rejoining although I have been out for a Mothers Day lunch today which was a bit off piste but lovely, shame about your consultant a good inspirational one really does make a difference. I’m pleased to say they seem to have stopped the happy clappy thing around here. If people want to speak about their week they can but the consultant doesn’t go around everyone in turn like they used to. I think that tactic puts a lot of people off staying to group.
Weigh in Thursday morning for me so I’m hoping for a few pounds off. Have a great week all whatever plan you’re following.
Like Sachamac I have rejoined SW. I tried my best with restricted meal times but when I lost a 1lb one week it went back on the next so back to SW. Not keen on the Consultant she reads from books or ipad (doesn't inspire at all) then goes round everyone asking them to comment on their loss or gain. It's very uncomfortable also happy clappy. Might just go to weigh in future and avoid class. Keep going everyone.
Sounds you had a brilliant but tiring day Whiff - well worth it though by the sounds of it and lovely to put a face to a name of someone you've only 'met' over the phone or email.
Well done Violetsky - it's great to see progress on your chart isn't it!!! NanKate - that jacket looks lovely and like others have said, it can go with almost anything.
I have had a very good week and at last, not giving up over the frustration of hovering/staying the same, has paid off and today 2.4lbs has gone.
I am delighted and will try to keep it up this week. Another loss this week would be great as we are off on a short break the following week with dinner, bed and breakfast included. They are great breaks but the scales do tend to rise a little on our return

Keep up the good work everyone - onwards and downwards and we will never give up!
NanKate lovely jacket. You will look lovely in it.
Well stayed the same again . My bad back turned out to be sciatica after my fall. Had it before be forgotten how painful it is even my bum hurts. Been having extra tablet for nerve pain which has helped but the electric heated pad has helped a lot.
Had brilliant time at the Brain Charity event . Had a free tea and cake so didn't bother with lunch. It was a bit overwhelming I had never been with so many disabled people before there where over 200. Lot like me who look normal until we stand and move. Great speeches by the man who runs it and by the lady sheriff of Liverpool who opened the event. Had a sing along with a duo called Holistic harmony they both sang but also played the guitar, mandolin and flute. I didn't feel self conscious as I normally do singing as I don't have a good voice but it didn't matter. It was just fun. Listened to a talk about Brain fog from a neurologist it was very interesting now I under why I get it. I couldn't stay until the end as by then had been sitting for 2 hours and was hurting and needed to move to ease the pain. Lots of charities had stalls and talked to a lot of people. But best of all got to met the lady who had been helping me with my PIP tribunal she got a solicitor for me. We had only talked on the phone and via email . She's a hugger like me . She's just as I thought beautiful on the outside and inside. At least she can see all the problems I have. Had to leave a 2 as I was exhausted but only missed the last 90 mins before it finished. Had taxi home driver as usual had to put my legs in and out of the car and give me a pull to get out. I always give them a little extra for there help. No one has ever refused to help me. Where I used to live the taxi drivers would have refused . But not here . So glad I moved.
Been doing gentle exercises and will be going to my sit fit class tomorrow but only do what I can . But I really missed going and will make it to my craft group this week anyway it's baking week. So will make some biscuits to take.
Have a great week everyone.
Love it!
Will be versatile and add style to a casual trousers and top combo, and will look lovely over a dress too.
You will look amazing in the jacket NanKate
Thanks Tilly
Well done VioletSky .
NanKate your jacket sounds chic . The size is just a number and it varies so much with brands. The good thing about jackets is they can be worn open.
M&Co will be missed by many. Our 2 closed weeks ago.
I’m not weighing for a week (I have a feeling it will not be a proud moment!)
Keep on trying your best everyone 💐
It’s a biker jacket. Picture won’t download. Will try tomorrow.
Have a good 4 week break MayBe70.
I’ve bought a nice blue suede type jacket half price in M and Co. 👍 I will attach a photo later.
I usually buy 14/16 clothes when available, I have a small bust and reasonable waist and large hips. This jacket was a 16 and to be honest when zipped up it fitted rather snugly 😳 round my hips and rear. I went and tried on the 18 which was a loose fit. DH said I should buy the 16 and he is right because if I got the larger size I would fool myself that it was an easy fit and I would do nothing about my weight gain. I have put on this weight in the last 3 months and I expect it will take me 6 months to get it off. Onward and downward.
MayBee I had a leaking garage roof which I knew about before I brought my bungalow. It only cost £85 more to have a complete new roof instead of just new felt. Plus it's now guaranteed for 25 years. Took me 3 years to get my bungalow exactly as I wanted . Because I moved here summer 2019. Covid halted some of my plans for a few months. But very happy with my finished home .
Enjoy your 4 weeks away.
Going away for 4 weeks and that should be 4 weeks of doing my sauna and walking/exercising. I’ve spent three months now working on my house and I’m not really getting anywhere. Having had a bit of a sort out in the garage the leaking roof is now leaking ten times worse: I think having roofers on the roof looking at it had made it worse. I am going to have the roof re felted when I get back: I just hope it holds up in the meantime. If I had any in the house I think I’d be attacking the chocolate at the moment.
Some good encouraging posts here. Well done Pears. 👍
SachaMac glad you had a good experience. And wish you well on the journey we are all taking.
Well I re-joined Slimming World this morning, different group but lovely friendly bunch, very welcoming and an inspiring leader. Seeing how much I’ve crept up and seeing it down in writing was a bit of a wake up call. I’m about to do an on line shop so I have everything I need in. I’m so pleased I have taken the decision to go back. The good thing is they no longer do the bit where they go round everyone asking them how they’ve done, there were always people who insisted on telling you every single morsel that they’d eaten in the week and then added far too much info on their toilet habits. It’s so much better for the changes. I’m feeling enthused
Wish me luck 🍀
Good morning
I'm another pound down today!
I'm really happy with that because I've now definitely moved past what could be normal weight fluctuations and can be sure what I am doing is enough for now.
Hope everyone is having a good week and finding what works for them, just try and keep the stress and pressure off. If it's not stressful it's easier to keep going..
SachaMac you are showing the pears spirit to the T not giving up no matter what. The only way I keep track of what I eat and drink is by writing it down and counting calories. Going to Slimming world with a friend will give you both support and if you wavier then you can boost eachother's resolve to carry on. Like I keep saying it's a marathon not a sprint. And not giving up no matter what is the hardest thing to do. It's easy to give up but like the pears have shown no matter what set backs we have we carry on. And that is hard but we all know it's a struggle well worth fighting and together we are winning .
It shows the strength of this thread since NanKate started it the number of old timers and new people joining. Not forgetting all the people who read it but don't feel confident to post. And I am sure there are a good number of them. But NanKate and the other long timers made me feel welcome so if you are reading don't feel you can't join in . This is a friendly site we may not always agree but no one is down right nasty or bullying .
We are all joined together with one goal to lose weight no matter how much or how little or how long it takes.
Shirley well done staying the same I know it's flustrating but I look at it this way at least it shows you can maintain a weight. That's what I tell myself when the scales stay the same.
Had a chocolate craving . I don't buy it unless making a chocolate cake or biscuits to give a way. But the craving didn't go away so thought what can I have to eat that would be chocolate but low cal. This may seem horrible but it tasted great. 30g dry weight porridge oats,15g low cal hot chocolate mix and mix with water and microwave until cooked. I let it cool a little while and it satisfied my choc craving. It will be my go to fix next time I crave choc.
Going to the Brain Charity event to day so will treat myself to lunch out. Soup if they have it or veggie meal . Will need to start for the bus earlier than normal as having to be careful with my back after my fall last week on the bus . It's slowed my walking down and couldn't go to my sit fit class on Monday as I have been resting it and using my electric heat pad which has helped.
Hope you all have a good day .
Well done sachamac, onwards and downwards.
I stayed the same this week.
SachaMac go for it. 👍
Well folks I have decided to return to Sliming World. I will rejoin on Thursday morning, a friend who like me is struggling at the moment has asked if I would go with her. I did well when I joined last year but as usual other things got in the way. I’m going to buy a 6 week countdown and go for it. I need to have someone weigh me and have it written down otherwise I lose control, it’s my snacking habit that’s the problem not my meals. I like the idea of being weighed on a set day, having it written down & I suppose being accountable, hopefully seeing the numbers coming down in my book. If I could do it on my own I would. I admire all of you that can. I’ll keep you up dated.
The last time I had fish and chips was a few weeks ago at a Quiz night. By the time it arrived during the interval at 9 pm I was famished and they were scrummy.
(I shared with someone so only ate half a portion).
A 1 lb.weight gain for me last week but not unexpected as I was away and ate out a few days.
Keep going everyone and don’t shy away from Birthday celebrations - they are special occasions.
🥳 Mr F
Trying to lose weight imo is an absolute pain, but giving up and giving in is far worse. So glad I have all you Pears and Apples battling away, this keeps me from giving up.
Four wish Mr F belated happy birthday. Fish and chips yum can't remember the last time I had them . Hope you had a nice bottle of wine with your steak dinner. Can't have a birthday without a cake 🎂. Half a pound put on is very little after eating those things you must have been extra strict the rest of the week..
