How often do you weigh yourself?

I do most mornings just to keep tabs, I don’t think I’d call myself obsessive and I don’t stress out if it’s gone up, it just keeps me on the straight and narrow.

Every morning.

Every morning not obsessive at all I’ve lost 3 stone on very high dose steriods have been for years continuously, it’s something I do religiously as soon as I’ve had shower. I also walk quite a lot to keep fit.

Hardly ever !

My weight can vary by anything up to 4lbs from one day to the next. No idea why.

When I remember, which I did last week, I’ve put on 3lb since February, cut out my afternoon baked crisps and replaced them with a banana.

I was thoughtless enough to remark that I thought daily "weigh -ins" were a bit "obsessive" whereas my monthly weigh-ins clearly were not...... wink

Just to let you know that Karma has come along and punched me right in the kisser and at the 1st July weigh in I HAVE PUT ON 2 Lbs.........
🤣🤣🤣

A few inches sideways and a few ounces lost or gained 😊
I keep my scales in exactly the same spot, an inexact science but keeps me on track .

I weigh every day.
I can lose weight quickly by moving the scales to a different place on the floor. …..that exercise is amazing!

Having lost 2 stones and kept it off for 12 years it works for me.

Me too!

Never. No scales in the house. OH had an ED and if there are scales he gets obsessive.

Callistemon I think women are more inclined to put on weight around the middle after the menopause. Perhaps it’s the body’s effort to preserve some oestrogen which is synthesised in adipose tissue?

Yes, probably. Although it does coincide with taking a certain medication in my case.

Every Friday. Done it for years. I think weighing every day would depress me as weight does vary day to day and when I weigh once a week and its gone up I have a week to try and sort it.

That seems sensible. Its such a fraught issue for some people. My mother pointed me in the direction of Weight Watchers when I was 18. A lifetime of obsessing over the number on the scales began.

I never weigh myself, I just go by how my clothes fit. I can soon tell if I have put weight on.

Same here.

Weighed myself yesterday after reading this thread, have been putting it off for weeks. How much I weigh determines my mood, (sad I know). Anyway have only put on 2lbs so will cut down for a few days, easier said than done as only eat one meal a day anyway. (I only have to smell food to put weight on, it’s always been that way.)

What I cannot understand is when I read about ladies who have lost a lot of weight and are delighted to be now be still over 11 stones and they say they are now a size 10 . How can that be ? I read it so often .

They might be over 6'.

I'm shrinking.

No, I can’t understand it either, but that’s (nearly) me. Around 10 stone 12 and still a size 10. I was size 10 when I was 8 stone many years ago, so that shows how sizes have changed so that we can fool ourselves.

I’m back to daily weighing as I’ve dropped the ball for a few months and put on half a stone. I’m working on it (back to the 5:2). I see nothing obsessive about it and I agree with others that describing it as such sounds like a putdown.

Callistemon213 Fri 28-Jun-24 07:56:26

Oh, and I weigh myself a couple of times a week usually.

Every day like the OP. I am not overweight and my BMI is 23. However, I have blubber around my stomach and middle which I don't want to get any bigger. If I have a bad day food wise, I try to have a good day the next. It keeps my weight reasonable, although I'd love to be slimmer. I find that this way keeps my weight from going up and up.

How come the weight seems to drop off arms, legs, fingers, chin but remains stubbornly in place around the abdomen?

I put on 2 stone when I was put on a certain medication and it has stubbornly refused to go. Even though I lost my appetite recently for some time, only 3lbs came off. It always fluctuates by about 3-4lbs but won't shift.

I weigh myself every day but only take Sunday's weight as my weight for the week . Normally I don't record my daily weigh but having problems with water retention and found it's impacting on my BP which I had to take daily.Seeing my GP on 9 th so will be taking both readings with me. Plus my legs blow up and cause me more pain than I am normally in.

If you exercise regularly you will shed the fat but all according to the exercises your doing you will build up muscle. Muscle is heavier than fat.
