How often do you weigh yourself?

I do most mornings just to keep tabs, I don’t think I’d call myself obsessive and I don’t stress out if it’s gone up, it just keeps me on the straight and narrow.

Once a week.

Hardly ever.

Same as OP just to keep an eye on weight creeping up unnoticed.

I never weigh myself, I just go by how my clothes fit. I can soon tell if I have put weight on.

I am the same!

Never, I can feel my weight
I do think every day is obsessive

I do the same as OP. If I waited until my clothes didn’t fit I woukd have put on too much which would be harder to lose.

Having lost 2 stones and kept it off for 12 years it works for me.

Not very often - I don't like bad news! grin

What do you do if you find you've put weight on?

Kitty the reason I weigh every morning helps me focus and if I have put a little on I am more careful what I eat for the next few days.
Most people who lose weight put it back on plus even more. I have done the same in the past because I stopped checking my weight.
Twelve years ago I managed to lose 2 stones and by getting on the scales every morning I have kept most of it off. It doesn’t feel obsessive. Each to their own way of dealing with it and it’s worked more or less for me.

Every morning when I wake up. I keep my weight within a 3kg window. I don't diet as such as I can shed the odd kilo just by adjusting my diet slightly. There's nothing obsessive about it, it's just part of my routine like cleaning my teeth. If I've put on weight I just modify my diet slightly by eating smaller portions.

Im seriously thinking of ditching the scales as don't like what I see. I know I'm overweight by my clothes and I know why.

silverlining48 Thu 27-Jun-24 07:52:55

That’s the worst thing you can do and only guarantees putting on more weight Allsorts.
I am still overweight and struggle to reduce further so know how hard it is but my intention is to ensure I don’t put on any more.

Most days. I gave up alcohol 45 days ago lol. Was drinking every day,so decided to stop for my health and to help with weight.
Had lovely surprise this morning. Hadn't weighed myself since last week (daughter was visiting) and lost a few pounds at last. I'm at least 2 stone overweight and due to have knee replacement soon so need to reduce weight

chloe1984 Thu 27-Jun-24 07:59:12

Every morning without fail am I obsessive ? Yes I expect I am but it works for me

Marthjolly1 Thu 27-Jun-24 08:00:03

Every morning. It's not obsessive, just part of my routine. I put weight on very easily. I'm just in the right scale for my age, weight and height. I don't want to get any bigger, if I did, I know I would be miserable so I just keep a check. If I do put on a pound, I know I've been over indulging and reign it in.

Interesting! I am overweight and have been doing some compensatory eating to get through a tough time. Somebody "kindly" put my photo on fb and I thought " Who's that fat old woman with terrible posture and straggly hair?"

So I have made myself a chart and will be weighing myself weekly.

Lovemylife Thu 27-Jun-24 08:22:30

When I remember, which isn’t very often. It’s more the weight distribution that bothers me- everything’s heading south.

I did have an app on my phone which connected to the scales but it disappeared and I never restored it. Looking at that became slightly obsessive so I don’t miss it.

Probably should cut out alcohol, but as OH is very poorly with anxiety, a glass of wine with dinner is one of life’s few pleasures at the moment.

Wheniwasyourage Thu 27-Jun-24 08:23:44

Every day as part of the routine. The weight was creeping up recently so a few weeks of being careful has brought it back down. Not obsessive, just careful!

LOUISA1523 Thu 27-Jun-24 08:25:02

Every week on average

NannyJan53 Thu 27-Jun-24 08:31:47

At least every other day. If I hit 9st 6 then I know to ease back, I refuse to go over that. Usually waver between 9st 3 and 5.

It is the only way I can keep my weight stable. It is so easy to put on half a stone, and harder to lose it.

keepcalmandcavachon Thu 27-Jun-24 08:48:38

I don't have scales, so nevergrin

I remember going crazy when I hit 9 stone. ( years ago)
Don't think I'll be seeing a 9 any time soon.
