I started this thread a day before I started the jabs on 10 October. I am delighted to say I have lost three stones. It has not been an easy ride, relearning how to eat normally. The jabs have been a godsend as they have taken away the obsessive desire to eat anything not nailed down. I feel so much better, my aching legs are easing and my diabetes levels have dropped substantially. I have suffered no side effects apart from a bit of constipation.
I know people worry about the jabs and long term effects but I truly feel a new person and am so thankful I have had this opportunity to use this medication.
Well done!!

I had ozempic for 3 months, and lost one and half stones. Unfortunately it gave me incredibly bad constipation. So bad I was prescribed medication to treat that, and sadly, nothing shifted!! I think,on reflection, I didn’t drink enough liquid and more importantly,I did NO excercise at all, even walking anywhere, sometimes only 100 steps a day! ( went downstairs, ate breakfast, sat and read, watched TV, went to bed……..) and of course, moving around keeps digestive system working… So, I would say to you, drink lots, move a lot. I couldn’t carry on with tummy ache, so stopped taking it. The needle is SO tiny, you literally can’t feel a thing, it’s like a mosquito bite, you don’t feel the proboscis, only the itching afterwards!! The needle is only ——- that long! I’m on 10 tablets a day for heart failure, high BP, blood thinners, diuretics, statin, beta blockers, and my heart specialist prescribed to me! He said ozempic is actually good for heart conditions, and has a positive impact. Good luck, keep us updated! 🤞
I was taking Ozempic, and at the lower doses it was great. I did have slight constipation however you are spot on, you must keep moving, you must drink plenty of clear liquids and must eat vegs and fruit.
Hi. I would be interested in hearing where you got your weight loss drug from please. Considering it but unsure.
I think the question isn't whether weight-loss drugs are safe but rather is it safe for you and if any doubt then ask your GP.
In my experience, consultations have recently got much stricter to ensure only those who meet the prescribing criteria obtain that medication.
Combining current NHS (25,000–60,000) and private (10,000–30,000) estimates, approximately 35,000–90,000 people are taking Mounjaro in the UK as of May 2025.
The NHS has a rollout target of 220,000 patients over the next three years.
Media hype swings for and against such drugs on a daily basis in order to generate clicks or sell newspapers.
To date, in the UK, there has been only one unfortunate case where Mounjaro has been attributed as a rare but severe reaction with the death certificate mentioning “the use of prescribed tirzepatide” as a contributing factor.
Happy to share my experiences and how I got my first order for just £100.94 along with a discount of £25 towards my second.
Don't want to spam any discount codes etc but please feel do free to message me and I'll share all the details, links and ordering tips ❤️

I’ve just read your post . I’ve lost 3 stone with Slimming World and have another 2 stone to go but my loss has really slowed down now so I’m getting very disheartened . I’m 69 and want to lose 2 stone before my 50 th wedding anniversary in July so am thinking of trying the weight loss drugs alongside slimming world . Seeing my GP next week to ask her advice . I can eat whether I’m hungry or not so not sure if these drugs will work for me

@MrsHappy will do, thank you.

If you are starting on WL jabs, I suggest you have a look on Mumsnet weight loss thread. There is loads of info, stories and tips from people at all stages of their journey.
Good luck.
I don’t have a problem with anyone using these with GP or nurse control my huge problem is with those buying them online or from smaller pharmacies and then encouraging others by offering discounts
I believe now there have been more deaths as of January this year 82 deaths and I think without strict control it is very very wrong to be encouraging online buying
As of January, the MHRA had received reports of 18 deaths associated with tirzepatide, commercially known as Mounjaro; 29 deaths associated with semaglutide which has the brand names Ozempic, Rybelsus and Wegovy; and 35 deaths associated with single-constituent liraglutide more commonly known as Saxenda or Victoza
82 in all and that was two months ago probably more now .
Well done that's a great weightloss. Pleased it has made you feel better as well.
Your update has come at a good time, I'm going to my Dr's tomorrow to start the weightloss jabs, paying privately for them.
I've tried lots of diets exercise etc n hope this will give me a boost as have lots to loose. The additional weight is starting to affect my health.
Your post had really helped me.

There's anew report about the number of people who stop taking GLP1s within a year:
www.diabetes.co.uk/news/2025/feb/most-adults-stop-glp1-therapy-within-a-year.html
Some highlights from the report:
"Within one year, 64.8% of non-diabetic patients and 46.5% of those with type 2 diabetes stopped taking GLP-1 therapy."
"The most common reason for stopping was gastrointestinal side effects – nausea and vomiting."
"these medications require continuous use to maintain their benefits making high discontinuation rates a significant concern."
"While these medications can help with weight loss, stopping them often leads to weight regain which in turn increases the likelihood of restarting therapy."

There are now 18 believed deaths from these injections There has been quite a big item on the television tonight and it was underlined that people should only be taking these drugs under closely observations of a health care professional
I know this post was from a while ago but I'm wondering if anyone has any more information about deaths or serious medical issues from Mounjaro or the other semaglutides. Especially if there's any information on what type of patients had these serious reactions (or "possible" reactions).
I know a lot of people on these drugs are very obese and/or in very poor health. So I'm especially interested to know if that's likely a major factor or if it's the drugs alone (in at least relatively healthy people) that are responsible. Any info. appreciated.
IOMGran if we did health trumps I would win hands down . COPD is common place . What I was born with is it's very rare and have been disabled since birth . But you do what you are doing which is best for you . Just hope you are funding it yourself and not taking resources from people who need specialist drugs but they can't have them because the money is being used up by people who can lose weight on their own .

So why am I overweight. Thanks very much for the judgement.
I suppose you are a perfect size 12 and never had a weight problem or are you one of those people who want short cuts .
Yes I am a stone over weight but I don't judge other people . But I am still working on losing the weight. I could make excuses as I have health problems at the moment and spent a week spilt better a acute cardiac ward and heart and lung hospitals last month .
But I won't . Because that's not me .
Look and judge yourself before judging others . Are you so perfect . I doubt very much .
You judge those who use Mounjaro. I have COPD if we want to do health trumps. I am open about my weight problems and I fully intend to return to a size 12 asap. Of course I want a short cut, life is finite and too precious to waste being overweight.
I was recently diagnosed with diabetes and am on Ozempic for it. (For those who don't know, Ozempic was originally prescribed to control blood sugar in diabetics). I've lost 1.5 stone in four months. I was only barely overweight to begin with, if at all.
However, losing weight anyway might be enough to bring my blood sugar back into normal range. I have other health problems it might help or eliminate too, such as high cholesterol, sleep apnea and circulation problems.
So far, the Ozempic and weight loss have brought my blood sugar down to "pre-diabetic" range.
My hope is to lose another stone, then see what my bloodwork looks like without Ozempic or other medications. I'm hoping the weight loss takes me off the edge and back to normal all around, even if I have to be on the skinny-minnie side to get there.
Once I reach my goal weight, I am going to use psyllium (fiber) to try to get the same "full" feeling I get with Ozempic.
I never realized before how easy it is to stick with a diet plan when your hunger pangs are greatly reduced. I also plan to stay on the diabetic diet, since my understanding is that's how pretty much everyone should eat.
I think you need to have a solid plan in place and also stick with your new and improved habits if you plan to go off Ozempic, Mounjaro etc. Otherwise, you will most likely just gain it all back.
I also agree with those who feel suspicious of the whole "wonder drug" hype. Now they say it also works for alcoholism and so on. But we also hear whispers of some serious problems. I'm aiming for six months total, then I will try to get off it. I'm not sure anyone really knows what the long-range effects might be.
As far as the bad effects we've heard so far (I haven't heard of many but some I have heard of were quite serious) I wish we knew more about the people who had these poor effects. The nature of these drugs is that some of the people on them are very obese and/or in very poor health to begin with. Which would also figure in. But I can't help but think of that old saying, "If something seems to good to be true..."

Whiff has not only lost an amazing amount of weight but continues to advise and support many others, including myself, who are trying to do the same...
Yes me too! Whiff is an inspiration...
After many ,many years of various diets, and food taking up my headspace ,I started on the injections last July.
Self funded, I lost 4st by Xmas. Very happy and now on maintenance dose.
I can't believe i can now go from day to day without thinking about food , diets , what's for tea ,snacking, secret binging!!
I only eat small meals, very little snacking ,and don't have the constant ' food noise ' going on in my head.
I am with a pharmacy who do online video consultations .
I'm quite happy to pay for low dose maintenance, for however long it takes to feel this happy

There is no magical way to lose weight . You have to put in the effort. Stop eating to much ,stop eating high calorie foods and exercise . And yes I know what I am taking about me 5 years but lost 7st from size 32 to 16. It's a marathon not a sprint to loose weight . And it's hard work and learning to get rid of all your bad habits . Still trying to lose the last stone 3 year of trying but one day I will get there..
What makes me laugh is people are ready to take these jabs not knowing what long term harm they can do . And yet people kicked up such a fuss about having covid jabs and there are some people who still won't have them or the flu jab.
And yet people are willing to put there health at risk to lose weight by having a jab.So why are you still overweight?
Wow, judgemental much? Instead of praising Whiff for her incredible achievement in losing so much weight in the first place, that's the comment you choose to make?
