Good luck, sorry can’t offer any advice but well done for taking the leap.
No and never would . But if you are set on taking it. Have you checked it won't interfere if you are on any medication.
If you have any food allergies have you checked it does contain any? Some tablets and injections contain egg albumen as part of the manufacturing process.
I would keep a daily diary of how you feel and any side effects or skin changes plus bowel habits . As it may show signs of the drug not suiting you .
Just be careful and do you know how long you will be having it ?
Please remember you have to reduce your food intake you can't rely on the drug to magically melt away the stones.
Wish you well but please be careful.
I did it the hard way over 5 years and lost 7st . I realised loosing and keeping off the weight is a marathon not a sprint . I was size 32 and over 19st. Now a size 16. Will never be slim and was obese for decades and even with exercise the skin doesn't magically tighten up. I am baggy and saggy but I don't care . Been trying to lose the last stone for 3 years one day I will do it . I am 66.
My neighbour was on a weight loss drug for 6 months, only lost a few pounds and put that back on as soon as she stopped taking the jabs.
You do know you can’t be on them indefinitely don’t you?
I have a relative who is delighted with the results of the weight loss jab. Her doctor advised her to try it, although she does pay for it herself. She's had great results so far and her blood pressure has come down. If you do go ahead good luck and let us know how you get on.
My friend was given these by her doctor and made no difference what so ever She is still the same size as before

The difficult part will be when she has to come off it.
A friend has recently begun Mounjaro and is delighted so far. She had tried everything to reduce her weight and it had got to the stage where it was impacting her general health. She is well aware of how to live a healthy life and none of the rest of her family is overweight.
She’s now lost a stone in a month and is feeling better already - her knees ache less and she has gone from just splashing about in the swimming pool to managing 400m a session. She feels a bit off-colour the day after the jab but no other side effects.
We’ve been talking about the weight loss injections at our Healthy & Happy meetings (aka Fat Club 😂) and some of the side effects. Some people sail through them while others suffer.
No matter which way you decide to go you need to follow a healthy balanced diet.
Wishing you all the best on your weight loss journey MrsHappy x
Hi
I've been on it since June and lost about 2lbs a week, lost about 1stone and a half
I have under active thyroid so cat normally loose weight so this is successful
I've had no issues apart from slight constipation.
I have 2 friends on it also and they've lost 4stone and 2 stone and both of them have had no issues.
Good luck with your journey
My daughter had bariatric surgery but it didn't help so she took Ozempic for a couple of months but had to stop because she couldn't afford it. She said that whilst she was on it, she realised how often she thought about food. She said that it really helped her.
It’s made me feel very queasy at times, and my appetite has been affected by that. I haven’t been given any instructions about weight loss by the hospital, but as a diabetic, I’ve been put on it by the endocrinologist to help keep my blood sugar down.
I’ve been given all sorts of drugs to reduce my blood sugar, if Mounjaro works for that, I’ll be really pleased. Sometimes I feel as if I’ve got a mountain of tablets to get through!
I was a bit daunted by the self-injecting, but the instruction leaflet is very clear, and sticking it into my fat tummy doesn’t hurt at all!
Good luck and well done for being proactive - Mounjaro is particularly for weight loss I have a friend who is taking it and so far has lost a stone per month. She says it turns ‘the food noise off’ and sometimes forgets to eat. She’s delighted with the results and the support she’s given from the company from which she buys it
Good luck - no personal experience but there is increasing of evidence that if you can tolerate these weight loss drugs, they can have a significant positive impact on your health - even reversing some of the impacts associated with being overweight.
They can be very effective but only if you use that time to change your lifestyle habits. Only get it from a qualified healthcare professional and not an aesthetician. There is a lot of fake stuff out there
Seriously speaking it started life as a diabetes control drug and weight loss is a beneficial side effect.
To me obesity is so serious it should be welcomed and used much more quickly with monitoring of course.
The epidemic of obesity is massive and costs the health service a fortune with all it brings.
I too am overweight and could benefit health wise from losing some lbs.
I took it from May to July, worked up from 2.5mg to 7.5mg. I lost 1 stone over the 3 months. Unfortunately, I had an unusual side effect in that it gave me Insomnia, which got worse as I went up the doses. Decided my sleep was more important than the weight loss. On the plus side, I didn’t get any other side effects and I have been able to maintain the loss (though I still have another 2 stone to lose)
I may have another go next year but hoping to lose the weight with other means I.e. calorie counting and more exercise.
Thank you all for your replies. I am aware it is not a magic pill (unfortunately) and I need to make major changes.
I am trying it as I am desperate. I have tried my whole life to control my weight but fluctuate all the time. It's literally either feast or famine with me. My wardrobe goes from 12 to 24!
What attracts me to this drug is hearing that the food noise goes. I really want to know what it feels like to not be thinking about food constantly.
This is the company my friend used www.secondnature.io/mounjaro-weight-loss-programme
But you can buy the injection online from Boots, Asda- pharmacy and Superdrug Pharmacy which are all reputable.
I know nothing about the company my friend is using I’m just witnessing the amazing results!
Hi , yes I have used Monjaro for 3 months and feel amazing. Along side my Monjaro I stopped sugar, white potatoes, bread , pasta pizzas and processed foods. Including the sweet stuff. My body is back in shape, I look healthy, younger and my brain is sharper and positive. Over all very happy. I started at 2.5mg and went to 7 5mg twice. No higher for myself because I lost my desired weight. Monjaro trains you to eat healthy to become a new you.
Thanks for this thread. I've only heard about celebrities who have taken it before so it is good to hear the experiences of Gransnet members.
WE are the celebrities! Do not forget
Never heard of this drug until this thread today & lo & behold I’ve just being speaking to my diabetic nurse who has suggested that I trial it to treat my diabetes and weight gain. I’ve never had to inject myself or anyone else for that matter. For those who have taken this medication do you use a standard syringe or is it like an epipen ?
My daughter takes Ozempic tablets on NHS as she had type 2 diabetes. She lost 2 stone and is now classed as only "pre-diabetic".
I’m on it and it’s brilliant. I don’t have any side effects but I’ve stayed on a low ish dose. I’ve lost 1.3 lbs in 2 months, where I only managed to loose 5lbs in a year. In the past the weight fell off but since I’ve hit my 60’s in doesn’t. For me it takes the noise away from food. I have 1 biscuit in the evening whereas in the past it would have been numerous biscuits, plus my portion sizes are half what they were. I think you’ll be delighted. Happy to answer any questions you have.
