I am feeling much better now and completely recovered from my long but lovely walk up and along the white cliffs.
Weighing tonight but been away earlier in the week and my friend made my favourite cakes…. 🎂 so if I remain the same I will be pleased.

Sillymoo don’t despair this weight loss lark is hard going. I jumped on the scales this morning expecting a loss and I was the same as last week.

I am going to my friend’s 60th wedding anniversary today for Tea and Cake 🎂. I’m already looking forward to it.

silverlining 23,000 steps in one go 😳 that’s 5 days of walking for me! Don’t overdo it.

WI on Tuesday, half a pound ON, how disappointing.
Will have to count my syns more carefully.

We did it, 23,000 steps along a very hilly and rather lumpy ground on the white cliffs. About 7 miles I suppose. Felt fine til we got out of the car after we got back home and could hardly move. Aching everywhere .
Have had a bath and that has helped. I think I am too old fir these sort of hard walks but it was such a lovely day, we coukd see the white cliffs of the French coast which reminded me of so many holidays there.

What you are already doing seems good enough to me.
and as for age I am not far behind you, but plan to walk the cliffs at Dover tomorrow. Well that’s the plan …..

Sorry to disappoint Frugola, exercise is of course good in many ways but for example if I remember correctly to work off a supposedly healthy thing like apple takes 30 minutes on a treadmill. Imagine what a bar of chocolate would require.
We would be on the treadmill for most if the day. Every day.
It’s sensible eating with portion control.

Silverlining48 I see you wrote back in February that exercise doesnt help with weight reducing. You have totally depressed me! I thought the two had to go hand-in-hand.

Weighed in at 138.8 lbs today. Very slow loss but so long as it's a loss I'm happy. I forgot to say I like your futuristic kettle Whiff.
Frugola.. thanks for mentioning kiwi fruit. I didn't know they contain melatonin. Battle on ladies.

NanKate Thank you. You have reminded me of Dr, Mosley. I think I must foresake my insomnia problems for a while! we have normally finished eating by 18:30 and this late introduction of goodies seems NOT to be a good thing. Oh well....

Frugola I don’t profess to be an expert on weight loss, however I try to follow the advice of the late Dr Michael Mosley and once I have eaten my evening meal I eat nothing until the next day, when I have breakfast at about 9.00 am. So this gives my body a chance to reduce in weight over the approx 14 hours.

To be honest my weight loss is very slow I started calorie counting last October and it has taken me since then to lose a stone about 6 and a quarter kilos. I have gone down one dress size but I am still classed as overweight !

Some advice please, about kiwi consumption.

Two weeks ago I started eating two unpeeled kiwi an hour before bed as a natural sleep inducer. (They are rich in melatonin, serotinin and folates - and it seems to work!). However, have not lost any weight during this period.

Could it be the sugars in the kiwi too late in the day?

I eat mainly freshly cooked food but most week’s have an M and S Count on Us meal. The haddock, salmon and Thai Green curry are all good when you are short on time and want a quick low calorie meal.

These programmes are very expensive though. I prefer to buy the fresh ingredients and make my own but I do understand this isn't always possible for some.

NanKate There IS a Europewide programme that supplies personally calory-counted meals to the door, delivery-free. I don't know if UK included. Maybe your sister can investigate for you. In Italian, it is called MI PIACE COSI. In French COMME J'AIME and Trust Pilot give the programme excellent ratings. Your sister will know it as they advertise virtually every day on national TV and is sponsored here by a famous opera singer (and she certainly looks better now than before!).

I am still exactly the same weight I was a month ago! So frustrating... but I know why. I am just eating too much, especially bread.

I have fallen back into my old bad habits so as usual I am going to say I must get back on track with my eating plan this week!

I have done an on-line shop so should need to be going out and getting tempted at Tesco!

Also I need to get walking, as this has also slipped into hardly any activity...

Well done to all you losers though-let's not give up, it would be so easy...

Thanks for explaining Frugola. I fully understand as my sister is married to an Italian and lives in northern Italy.

Portion size maybe the way forward for you.

When I mentioned to my niece, who lives in the next village to my sister, about ready made calorie counted meals she said ‘we don’t have them here we cook from scratch’.

Nan Kate - the troube is that I have to cook for two. My husband is Italian (I live in Italy) and he expects two proper meals a day. cooking separately can be costly and also seems rather antisocial. So my method is more reducing quantities and not giving myself some of what he eats. Occasionally I will make him a good old pasta and sugo while I have cottage cheese and beetroot (foods he hates!).

The plus side of being in Italy is plenty of zero kilometre fresh foodstuffs. I cook from base and rarely use/need packaged stuff. I have half a fresh grapefruit most mornings and ten almonds every day. I can find buckwheat cakes (like rice cakes but tastier) for breakfast most mornings plus a smear of butter and a teaspoon of quality apricot jam. I drink tea - good old Yorkshire with soy or oat "milk" and TRY to drink 1.5l plain water per day. We always have evening meal around six p.m, which resolves my previous problemM of gastric reflux.

Welcome Frugola you have come to the right place for help and encouragement. You seem to be approaching a more healthy lifestyle in just the right way.

Although I know you don’t want to calories count like I do. However I found this book very helpful as it gave me an idea of what to eat and what to avoid. Have a look at it online.

silverlining weight loss is a difficult journey and you do not need to feel any shame. Try to put the small weight gain to the back of your mind and just Start Again. I have done so many times.

Hello all. May I join you? I need encouragement for my weight down/fitness up programme.

I'm a real oldie - nearly 80. I had a shock when I wanted to work out my BMI: I have SHRUNK by over two inches - had always been 5'7" but am now 5'5"! This means I'll have to lose several pounds to get into the BMI 25 category.

I started doing the CRAF 12 Minute Exercises in the New Year (now called Helen Mirren exercises as she has done them for years.) I have also started a beginners' 27 minute programme on my indoor bike. Have lost 2.6kg since New Year - it fell off at first but now progress is very slow.

Am not dieting as such but watching the quality and quantity of what I eat. I couldn't do calory counting every day.

While I still have skinny arms and legs my problem is all belly fat. Am almost a tree trunk in shape.

I aso hope that losing some weight wil ease my constant lower back pain.
