I am fed up now of battling to lose this last bit of weight. I have been stuck since May, and tried all the advice but now I am sat on my kitchen floor in tears.
I am on weightloss jabs and they were brilliant at first, but being stuck at the same weight for months is draining me.
I don't need advice, I just need support and some understanding, and maybe some stories of from people who have had similar experiences.

Tizliz Sat 18-Oct-25 10:01:18

It is not something I have experienced but I do feel for you when you are trying and nothing happens. Not giving advice just a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on if needed.

Jaxjacky Sat 18-Oct-25 10:02:33

How much is there to go MousieB? It’s so hard to shift that final amount, could you settle for where you are which I'm sure is brilliant.

Aldom Sat 18-Oct-25 10:03:31

I don't have any advice but wanted to send you a supportive hug 🤗
Please don't despair. There's a lady on GN called Whiff who, over a long period of time has lost many stones in weight. Whiff is like you now and struggles to lose the final few stones. I hope she sees your post and comes along to support you. Good luck with it. shamrock flowers

Sorry you’re so down after such a success. I do think we all have a natural metabolism that when we reach a certain weight it is difficult, without starving ourselves, to lose any more.
It could explain why some people can eat anything, regardless yet don’t gain weight.
You don’t say how much more you wanted to lose.

AGAA4 Sat 18-Oct-25 10:38:17

MousieB you are not alone. The last bit of weight seems to stick like glue for many. It is frustrating and upsetting when you've tried so hard.💐

J52 Sat 18-Oct-25 10:38:18

Meant to add, sending a supportive hug.

Lathyrus3 Sat 18-Oct-25 10:40:36

Yes, how much more do you want/need to lose?

I admit I don’t know anything about how weightless jabs work but I guess like most drugs they lose effectiveness over time.

Does it work out if you take a couple of months break from the drugs, maintain your current weight without them and then start again?

Elless Sat 18-Oct-25 11:01:39

I always find that if you eat a bit more for a day it kicks the weight loss off again. It could also be the fact that you aren't eating enough and your body is in starvation mode.

Whiff Sat 18-Oct-25 11:27:08

MousieB . Aldom is very kind. You are asking for support please join the Pears thread . NanKate started think it's over 4 years ago might be longer as my memory gets dodgy at times. The Pears and other fruits as well come in all shapes and sizes . But it is a friendly thread , supportive ,,advice given if you want it ,no judgements plus we talk about other things .
Now I warn you as I ramble on. Those who know me on GN know I can't cut anything short . I have a rare hereditary neurological condition so what pops into my head I write or say and it's not always what I mean to write or say . So pleased excuse any wrong words .
I lost 7st over 5 years by counting calories as it's the only way that works for me . I was well over 19st when my husband was alive it was 21st for a short while . But had been 19st plus size 32 for decades . But my husband loved me and fancied me no matter my size . I was born disabled but telling you to explain how my journey started losing weight . My fit healthy husband got cancer in 2021 and we knew he wouldn't live 5 years. He died 2004, 4 days after his 47th birthday. Then I had both my parents and mother in law to look after. When my husband died I lost half of myself and haven't been whole since . I lost me and all my time was taken up looking after others. But it was my decision and my husband dieing unfortunately that's just life.

My wake up call my life had to change was few weeks after my mom's funeral who was the last to die in 2017. I felt worse than normal just thought my body was telling me to rest . In the end had to call the doctor in . I couldn't see I was yellow. Two of the tablets I had been talking to help with my symptoms have me jaundice. So the doctor rang the hospital and wrote a letter so I would be admitted to acute ward for liver and kidneys patients. I was seriously ill for 5 months . Only in hospital for 5 days but had to go weekly for blood tests.

Jaundice does terrible things to your body and effects your eye sight well it did mine. I couldn't do much but think. Only 3 things I wanted move house ,lose weight and get fit . When my gastrologist discharged me after 5 months he told me people with my bilirubin levels normally died they where over a 1,000 but he wouldn't tell me how high.

So that reinforced my change of life. I wasn't happy in the house as it wasn't home anymore the moment my husband died it was just a house he was my home . So started to declutter the house which helped declutter my mind and I let go off things I had held on for to long as I decided to put my house on the market in March 2018.

I found my old cal counting book and started to weight and measure everything I ate and drank and had note book to write it down . When I got to 15st 7lbs decided to go to exercise class. Age UK had a community fit club which was free for 12 weeks so I joined . But I couldn't exercise like everyone else . We where all shapes and sizes and 3 couples. The instructor gave me a chair to hold on to for leg exercises and sat down for arm ones. Ones done on the floor I did sitting down . Should say I have used a walking stick since I was 29 and those days had limb jerks no warning they would happen started in 1988.

Funny enough I found I could do the exercises and enjoyed. And did some at home .

I lost the 7st it was a battle . But I didn't measure myself until counting cals for a few months . Had weeks where I stayed the same weight but found I lost inches . I am now a size 16 bottom and really a 14 top but wear size 16 feel more confident.

Should say I did move over 100 miles to the north west in 2019 to my lovely bungalow I have a home again and very happy here. I found me again . Found an sit fit class over a cafe loved it but it closed because of covid and didn't reopen .
I did the exercises at home but I needed a class.
Once things started to get back to normal after the lockdowns
I found an exercise class to join which was run by the local council GP referral 12 weeks . We did sitting down exercises ,standing and walking ones after a few weeks I could do the walking ones without my stick. But there where 2 instructors so felt safe .

Found at sit fit class round the corner from me . One of the council run instructors told me about it. So go to sit fit every Monday afternoon for 60-70 mins £5 . We use leg weights I brought my own as I can't use the 1kg ones mine are 500g each, we use resistance bands, paper plates don't laugh but they are for a couple of exercises we do ,tea towel and about every 6 weeks we have circuit training. Will post so I don't loose my saga

Aldom Sat 18-Oct-25 12:40:54

Thank you Whiff I hope MousieB is reading the posts especially yours with all your experience. smile

Whiff Sat 18-Oct-25 13:05:47

MousieB I also go to a move it or lose class on Tuesday £5 for hour . They do that online. But I don't know if you exercise or not but it's great fun and we encourage eachother and it's amazing how people can do more than they think .

You mentioned sitting on your floor crying . I will PM a link will explain in my PM hope you accept PMs . I go to a mindfulness class. Now I am down to earth not int hairy fairy hippy things but these classes have helped me . I can relax so much during them I can close my eyes and not fear being startled which would make my limbs stiffen and I wouldn't be able to move for few minutes if I was standing without my stick fall over . With my stick if startled I walk by fences etc and because stiffening I push down on my stick and topple sideways. But in the class I feel safe and my arms stop moving and my hands are still. One class is over back to normal. But for 90 mins I can relax. Anyway I can't do links so will have to go to my email write it down which will take a while as my hands don't like to work and send it to you .

MousieB Sat 18-Oct-25 17:47:08

Hi Whiff, thank you. Unfortunately I can't get PMs for a couple of days as I only signed up this morning. Your story is so encouraging.

MousieB Sat 18-Oct-25 17:54:42

So for those asking, I have lost 5 stone since October last year, only with the help of the jabs. I wand to lose another 10 pounds to get me into the healthy range on the BMI indexes (and I do know these aren't the best guides), but it would make me a comfortable size 10.
I have been stuck needing these last 10 pounds off since April, so I am disheartened by it.
I know I should be happy with what I have done, but I am so frustrated at this last bit not even losing a couple of pounds a month but staying the same.

lixy Sat 18-Oct-25 18:02:41

Ugh, the dreaded plateau! You are doing well to stay on it and not start the weight creeping on again - as a serial yo-yo I sympathise.

I found the NHS exercises that target a specific body area (from the NHS website) helpful. I hope you find a magic wand that suits you soon.

J52 Sat 18-Oct-25 18:49:09

You have done so well and reached the edge of size 10. When I was a 10 I looked gaunt, so a happy12 at the moment. Please don’t beat yourself up over the clothes size. I’m sure you look fabulous.

Whiff Sat 18-Oct-25 23:13:25

MousieB when you do get my PM and if you feel down . Listen and I promise they will make you feel better. I didn't think they would help me . But these techniques are very old teachings.
I have been trying to lose the last stone for years but I don't give up trying . I do 7 exercises at home a day and 500 rotations on my static pedals as I am trying to keep my mobility as long as I can using my walking stick when out. Hopefully I have 10 years before I end up back in a wheelchair.

I have baggy flabby skin and will never have slim thighs but don't care. My sit fit instructor says this exercise is good for bingo wings I tell I have elephant ears 🤣. As no amount of exercise will ever tighten my skin .

These so called celebs who have used the weight loss jabs then show off slim bodies have had the excess skin removed. That's why I like Lisa Riley so much she lost 11st the hard way dieting and exercise and freely admitted having the excess skin removed and all her scars plus infections she got . But she inspired a lot of people to lose weight but told it like it was the ups and downs but just keep going.

Thank you to everyone and your comments. I am still fed up but am going to give it one last push.
I unfortunately have to stick with the jabs for now, but I am going to get some blood tests done.
I saw an endocrinologist about 2 years ago due to increased testosterone (misdiagnosed years before with pcos), low shbg, raised cortisol and insulin resistance. Sounds a lot but basically means losing weight is so difficult.
I had been to my GP before, even took my husband as low calorie diets and exercise alone weren't working. Most GPs think you're just not committed to it, but I worked alongside my husband exercised with him and was basically side by side 24 hours a day, so he could tell the GP I wasn't imagining it.
So when Mounjaro appeared and helped with insulin resistance aswell I grabbed the chance with both hands and it worked, but now it doesn't work the thought of going back to the fight again simply overwhelms me at times.
But I started more intensive exercise last week, cutting out processed carbs, as little processes food as possible. Protein shake for breakfast, porridge pot for lunch and chicken fillets and veg for dinner, with a small serving of bran flakes if I want something resembling crisps.
I haven't forgotten about looking after my mental health either (I am a massive advocate for this). I play my flute lunchtimes for 20 minutes, also focuses my breathing, walk my dog with my daughter every evening and crochet.
Wish me luck 🍀🤞

Oh Mousie B, five stones is fantastic, I bet you look fab, what about a dance type class, might your lovely daughter
enjoy it with you? Also have some fun trying on a few 'that would never suit me' type fashions. The new you may be surprised!

Mamasperspective Sun 19-Oct-25 13:56:55

Are you exercising? It may be that you've added muscle (which is a good thing!) Maybe consider getting your body fat percentage calculated instead of going by the number on the scales

Aldom Sun 19-Oct-25 14:16:23

Mousie I certainly do wish you luck 🍀 you've done so well. As suggested by Whiff, perhaps you should look at the thread on GN entitled
I'm a Pear. There you will find ongoing support from others who struggle with their weight. smile shamrock
