My morning weight is up by 2 lbs . Is your weight elevated in the extreme heat?

You should only weigh once a month.

Ideally.

But the temptation to jump on the bathroom scales every day is too great. Even for a saint.

Which I'm not.

You should only weigh once a month.

Where did you find this advice because it is, I'm afraid, absolute rubbish?

If you only weigh once a month you could put on 4 or 5 lbs unintentionally. Weighing regularly warns you that you are overeating and you can take action!

If you want to see how your weight is moving, weigh daily but then take an average for the week which will smooth out daily fluctuations. Then do the same the following week to compare.

Yes it's very common to retain fluid in hot weather - you'll lose it when it cools.

A quick Google answers the question.

In hot weather your body retains water, in case it is needed to cool you down. When the weather gets cooler you start weeing more/

My body listens to the weather forecast. Yesterday evening it was talking about the weather being much cooler this weekend. I was up to go to the loo abut four times last night and on each occasion by bladder was really full.

My weight has always fluctuated + or - 2lb. Once it hits 9st 6 I know to ease back on what I eat.

Babamaman

Got angry with my scales many years ago, never showed the weight I wanted so threw it out! I know by different clothes what my weight is! And somehow just lost a lot of weight!
I have Type 2 diabetes
Under active thyroid
High blood pressure
High cholesterol
Thinning hair (oh I’m 77)
Noticed that I don’t eat nearly as much as I used to, so it’s definitely a portion size & carbs issues!
Good luck

I too have Type 2 diabetes and Hypothyroidism
but unfortunately I just keep putting weight on. Although I hardly eat anything ( IBS) and take Levothyroxine it doesn't make any difference, just keep having to buy larger size clothes!!! (I am 75 and turning into an elephant!!! )

I read this interesting article - I'm 67 and it gave me hope. It seems to make sense. Please someone tell me if I'm deluded.

Weight fluctuations everyday. Its how our body works . I eat and drink the same everyday as counting cals. Sunday which is my official weekly weighting day lost 2.5lbs. I do weigh myself daily Monday had put on 3lbs ,Tuesday lost 5lbs . Haven't weighted myself yet.
If you weight yourself at different times of the day will show different weights. Plus it depends on how often you have your bowels open. As explained to me by nurses when in hospital. Some people go once a day others 2-3 times or some people only go every other day. All are normal . Its how your body works . Some people have quick metabolism others slow.

My GP told me 8-10 drinks a day is enough even on hot days . Sipping drinks often is better than drinking a full glass straight off. If you drink more you risk flushing sodium and potassium out of your body which can lead to lowering your levels and can risk kidney problems. Even if you have an UTI only drink 8-10 drinks . If you have UTI see GP for antibiotics.

Our bodies are weird. Even on hot day I still do my 7 exercises and 900 rotations on my static pedals and go to my sit fit and move it and lose it classes weekly . I do it to keep my mobility. My curtains are shut fans on and table top dehumidifier in the living room . And my dehumidifier in my bedroom on every night all year round . Also have table top fan on my bedside table if I need it.
All this works for me . But we are all different so it may take trial and error to find out what works for you. We are all unquie.
