Homosexual practice became legal in 1967, not a vast amount of history post 1967 compared to pre 1967 is there ?

This is now just nonsense , facts - we have had three queens of the UK , even a pea brain can work out more male monarchs will be spoken of . Women did not captain ships and sail off searching for new lands .

I doubt very much if Oscar Wilde is studied below A level, apart from perhaps 'The Importance of being Ernest'.

Surely only the ones that are relevant in which case we do mention gay relationships too. As Anniebaxh said earlier we know Oscar Wilde was homosexual because it is/was relevant.

we already do mention manys straight relationship and straight love affairs when teaching history or poetry etc. This already happens.

So do we now disect every person from history in terms of their sexual orientation?

For example, I haven't got a clue whether Florence Nightingale was heterosexual, lesbian, bisexual whatever and nor should it matter. Was Albert Einstein gay? Was he bisexual? I don't know. Does it matter? Why would it be relevant?

Really? nobody ever introduces their partners to you? ever? never announce their engagements? Never invite you weddings where the groom declares how much they love the bride?, tells you if they've fallen in love, never? wow!

Sexuality is only of any interest in learning if it played a part in the subjects work/achievemements

Unless they're hetrosexual, and then it's okay to learn a bit about the person behind the invention/story/discovery.

He was not openly gay, he was bi sexual , and homosexuality was illegal for most of his life. He was a minor Royal and what did he add to the world being gay/bi/heterosexual . Oscar Wilde yes his sexuality is important and is taught . Sexuality is only of any interest in learning if it played a part in the subjects work/achievements

humans are as they are and if we were perfect we would accept what didn't scare the horses , but we are not perfect . By the way I am friends with most people regardless of their orientation , I just don't need it shoved in my face all the time

so he is talked about in schools, it's not much extra work to also mention that he was the first member of our current Royal family to be openly gay, a brave move at the time.. move on to more about his role in history..
