Lesbian = non-man attracted to non-man.
Gay = non-woman attracted to non-woman.

How does anyone know if they are a woman or a man or not?

I suspect school kids are getting fed up with this stuff.

Much not mush

welbeck

Colston's philanthropy didnt extend to seeing enslaved people as human.

Welbeck that’s how it was then, just as in the 50’s and 60’s reactions to gay people was so negative. Things have improved so mush as we have become more enlightened.

I think. Anyone confused about their sexuality is going to be entirely baffled by this nonsense.

Doodledog Sat 26-Jun-21 18:33:14

Arrghh! Milknon-woman ? Assuming the milk deliverer is a male person who is not attracted to other men, that is.

Doodledog Sat 26-Jun-21 18:32:10

Oops! 'Who is Chris's milkman-woman?'

Doodledog Sat 26-Jun-21 18:31:19

Beats me, given that logic. What is a woman, if female people who are attracted to other female people are 'non-men', and male people who are attracted to other male people are 'non-women'? And what is a man?

It's like one of those 'if Pat lives in a house with a red front door, and is not married to Sam, who does not drive a green car, who is Chris's milkman?' puzzles.

Why would you comment that it might be a leg pull, if it all looks perfectly fine to you?

A person would normally only say that if they thought there was something strange about it.

Lesbian = non-man attracted to non-man.
Gay = non-woman attracted to non-woman.

^How does anyone know if they are a woman or a man or not?^

I googled the school to find out more about it. There wasn't anything on the website and it looked a very traditional school, so I thought someone might be playing a joke on them. It says more about my prejudice about old independant schools (which I absolutely acknowledge) than it does about my LGBTQ opinions. I fully admit it isn't the sort of thing I thought such schools did.

Here's the whole poster.
It has untrue statements about people with DSDs, also - whom it refers to as 'intersex'.

Callistemon Sat 26-Jun-21 10:43:39

Give all the money back to his descendants.

Colston didn't have any children, that is why he gave his wealth away to charities to benefit the poor and disadvantaged and to educate children who may not otherwise have benefited from an education.

He was of his time.

25Avalon Sat 26-Jun-21 09:54:34

Surely the school should be shut down and rebuilt elsewhere with ‘untainted’ money? Colston’s was a child of his times and as well as being involved in the slave trade it should be remembered he was a philanthropist who gave the vast majority of his wealth to the City of Bristol, building schools, alms houses, etc for the poor. Give all the money back to his descendants.

FarNorth you assume too much I simply said it might be a leg pull. So I checked and you are absolutely right it isn't. I had no idea about all those flags so maybe I need to get myself more informed. I suppose if you were someone worrying about how you felt and your sexuality looking at that huge range might make you feel more secure. (of course it might make you want to experiment more as well and we can't have that can we???)

FarNorth Sat 26-Jun-21 09:32:43

trisher, it's nice to know that you think the LGBTQIA+ thing has gone too far.

FarNorth Fri 25-Jun-21 20:52:59

That's all right Callistemon, no need to apologise for claiming I didn't know what I was on about.

Galaxy Fri 25-Jun-21 20:05:57

It's on their Twitter.page. The responses are funny.

Callistemon Fri 25-Jun-21 20:04:59

If the parents do not like it they can vote with their feet as it is a fee-paying independent school.

This is a co-educational school, not a girls' school.
It's a different school.

FarNorth Fri 25-Jun-21 19:52:42

trisher it's on their Twitter page.
If you don't use Twitter, you'll just have to believe me.
You can see the screenshots of their Twitter, in my posts.

There is also a tweet about them looking for a new name. It's dated 18 June.

They decided on the name Montpelier High School a while ago.

A school named after the 17th Century slave trader Edward Colston has announced its new name.
Colston's Girls' School in Bristol will now be known as Montpelier High School, after a vote by staff and students.
The school's own statue of Colston was removed from the premises in June.
