Colston's School, Bristol - rainbow themed insults to gay people

i think the name of the school is a continuing insult to all the pupils and staff and the people of bristol.
hope it's due to be changed.

Why can't they just concentrate on being children? They will work the other stuff out for themselves.

Yes, FarNorth but I have given up on all the rainbows and glitter that gets aimed at gay people now in the name of diversity and inclusivity.I doubt that any gay people want it... but they get it none the less.

It was changed months ago and I don't understand the tweet in the OP as it is now Montpelier High School.
The school's own statue of Colston was removed from the premises in June (2020)

I agree FarNorth.
I worry about what children are being taught about this type of thing tbh.
They need to be children first and foremost.
The rest they can learn about when thay are older.

It's ironic really because its deeply homophobic and inaccurate.

Well I "Googled " the school to see what was happening. They are currently consulting abut a name change although the original school was founded by Colston Nothing about any of thsee things. I wondered -schools out early- could someone be pulling people's legs???

They decided on the name Montpelier High School a while ago.

This is a co-educational school, not a girls' school.
It's a different school.

If the parents do not like it they can vote with their feet as it is a fee-paying independent school.

FarNorth you assume too much I simply said it might be a leg pull. So I checked and you are absolutely right it isn't. I had no idea about all those flags so maybe I need to get myself more informed. I suppose if you were someone worrying about how you felt and your sexuality looking at that huge range might make you feel more secure. (of course it might make you want to experiment more as well and we can't have that can we???)

Gay = non-woman attracted to non-woman.

How does anyone know if they are a woman or a man or not?

Surely the school should be shut down and rebuilt elsewhere with ‘untainted’ money? Colston’s was a child of his times and as well as being involved in the slave trade it should be remembered he was a philanthropist who gave the vast majority of his wealth to the City of Bristol, building schools, alms houses, etc for the poor. Give all the money back to his descendants.
