Ankers, I'm just off to work so I can't give a long response but cutting parents off be it on a whim, over a rift or longer more in depth issues, is a current trend and epidemic. There are many reasons given, in my case, I have spent 20 years trying to deal with my daughters anger towards me.
In the end, I have let her go, (by let go, I mean, stop crucifying myself in the process) choosing instead to recover and try and offer a listening ear and friendship to others in the same boat.
I have no solutions or magic wand but I do know from my own efforts and research into this topic that we all, that's ALL of us, have to find our way forwards and move on.
This is what my support group is about.
