No more needs to be said; this thread does exactly that.

Well yesterday my friends brother died of the virus. He was at his sons house and let in his son’s friend . No one wore masks. The friend found out later he had the virus. The father and son got it but the father died after two weeks on a ventilator.
How old do you have to be in the U.K. to get the shot?

Madgran77 Thu 10-Dec-20 12:47:25

Thanks for that Smileless

3nanny6 Thu 10-Dec-20 11:40:03

The two I am talking about were the new lot in the U.K. who got the vaccine on Monday and they were NHS staff and had adverse reaction. I have heard that Dr. Hilary also mention it on the T.V he said it is rare and people should not start to worry.
I shall wait and see as who knows about side effects long or short term.
Myself and eldest daughter have said we are not having it,
my eldest daughter is in the type of work where her bosses have said they may have to have it. She has worked from home since March and is still at home working she said she will keep working from home as she is not getting any vaccine, and has said they can "naff" off.

Smileless2012 Thu 10-Dec-20 11:09:35

This is what actually happened during the vaccine trials in USA.
“The briefing documents also note that there was a severe case of Covid-19 infection in the vaccine arm of the trial and three in the placebo arm. Six people died during the trial — four in the placebo group, and two in the vaccine group — but none of those deaths has been linked to the vaccine”

Madgran77 Thu 10-Dec-20 09:07:02

I haven't seen a report about 6 dying Yogagirl Was that during the trials?

Yogagirl Thu 10-Dec-20 08:49:25

Morning all

I'm not getting the vaccine, nor my son &DD or any of my prev. in-laws, only my prev. father-in-law said he wants it, he's 90yrs! It's caused a be argument with my sister & I as she will be having it. She called me a few choice names because I said I wouldn't.

Along with those 3 who had a very bad reaction, it was in the newspaper that 6 died, but we mustn't worry !!!

Never had the flu jab either, as some of my friends & students did and were quite ill after. I just think I'm fit & healthy, so why inject something into my body to make me ill

hugshelp Wed 09-Dec-20 20:47:41

see how things are when they've ironed things out - pah excuse my gibberish

hugshelp Wed 09-Dec-20 20:46:50

Mmm, I have a lot of allergies too 3nanny and immune problems, as does DH. We're just going to wait and watch and keep social distancing and how things are when they've ironing things out a bit.
You've reminded me smiles - I need to check which cards Mr hugs actually posted yesterday...
Think we need to start wrapping a few pressies soon to put under our tree. The underneath is looking a tad bare.

3nanny6 Wed 09-Dec-20 20:29:01

I am not getting it full stop. I have hay fever and allergies
and poor immune system. Heard on news today that two people who have had it suffer from allergies and they have had adverse reactions and are being monitored. NHS said people with any allergies will not get the vaccine at the moment.

I am not old enough at the moment any way but with allergies i will not have it.

Smileless2012 Wed 09-Dec-20 19:39:12

Not for sometime Rhinestone; not old enoughtchgrin.

Rhinestone Wed 09-Dec-20 14:56:26

Anyone getting the vaccine ?

Smileless2012 Wed 09-Dec-20 14:43:30

An 'After Bite' pen contains medication to put on your skin following an insect bite 3nanny. I sneaked a look in his pockets and all cards have been deliveredtchgrin.

Enjoy your walk.

3nanny6 Wed 09-Dec-20 12:11:31

That's good to hear Hugshelp it does make the place more cheerful doesn't it?

I have certainly had some blips going on and the blip with the vet certainly had me in a rage. Luckily I rang them back before 6pm last night and was promptly told we have not sorted you out because you have not paid us (that was what they told me earlier in the day.) I was livid by this time and
they got a piece of my mind. The vet then came on the phone himself and apologized about what had happened saying they were training two new staff and the girls were having difficulty getting the hang of things. Everything sorted now and my medication is all ordered.

Smileless2012 you are doing well I have not done the Christmas cards yet so I need to get a move on.
Just a quick question what is an "After Bite" pen.
I hope Mr. S. manages to deliver the cards you had best check his coat pocket when he returns to make sure.

I am off with the dogs now before the poor little loves decide to take themselves for a walk as they are fed up waiting for me.

Smileless2012 Wed 09-Dec-20 11:15:00

You could be right about people consuming wine/sherry and not functioning as well as they should 3nanny. Mr. S. has been helping out with writing Christmas cards this morning, and all I can say is it's a good job we have a Tipp-Ex pen as he kept putting the wrong name on the envelopes.

He's had me in fits of laughter because as well as making mistakes, at one point he was using an 'After Bite' pen instead of the Tipp-Ex one!!!

He's just gone out to hand deliver a pile of cards; hope he manages OK bless him and in a few months time I don't find one or two in his coat pocket; yes it wouldn't be the first timetchgrin.

Decs are up. Some are a bit wonky, but it's all bright and cheery.
There seems to be a lot of blips with things lately 3nanny Don't know how much is down to staff being off or problems with social distancing in work places maybe?

3nanny6 Tue 08-Dec-20 14:11:59

Hope you have got those decs up Hugshelp and dressed your tree, don't let us down.

Smileless2012 yes our dogs are amazing and they love us unconditionally and only want loving care from us.
I am feeling a bit cranky because I ordered my dogs prescription and paid for it over the phone on Saturday so when I went to pull up in my e-mails it was not there so after phoning the vets office I was told it had not been sent because I had not paid. I must say I was somewhat annoyed and it shows in my bank details the money was taken Saturday, the receptionist just said leave it with her.
I have had a few things happen like this with businesses I have used and I am coming to the conclusion that some of the staff members are getting on the wine/sherry a bit early for Christmas.

Rant over so have a good day all.

hugshelp Mon 07-Dec-20 21:30:07

Ohh mince pies, now I have to make some smiles
Your drs sound amazing!

Thinking of you PF

Have a good night all. x

Smileless2012 Mon 07-Dec-20 09:40:28

Have a great day putting your Christmas decs hugshelp and enjoy singing along to those Christmas songstchsmile.

Our dogs are amazing aren't they 3nanny. Our cocker knows I'm going to shed a few tears before I begin; she gets next to me and looks at me so intensely bless her, staying by my side until I stop crying.

I had my first ever flu vaccination on Saturday and was really impressed with how efficient my GP's surgery was. I expected to queue for quite a while and despite the number of people there, it only took 10 minutestchshock.

Made my first batch of mince pies over the weekend. I say 'first batch' because although there's just the two of us, they wont last long.

It was white over with frost when we woke up this morning, very Christmassytchsmile. Have a good day everyone. Hope you're OK PFflowers.

hugshelp Sun 06-Dec-20 22:25:35

Dug the tree out, and lots of Christmas music, and the lights today. Haven't actually got the decorations up yet but we have everything out and untangled ready to do tomorrow. Have a good night dear friends.

3nanny6 Sun 06-Dec-20 19:25:13

Yes Rhinestone and Hugs the 20th Dec. is fast approaching so why not try and do something to distract yourself from your sadness, it is hard but can be done. One of my methods is watch a silly sad Christmas film most of them are tear -jerkers one way or another so I usually have a little cry while watching
and then tell myself put on a reasonable face and stop being miserable life has to go on and it will.
The dogs are so intelligent anyway and know my moods and if I am sad they fuss around me then I put my coat on and have a walk.
Yogagirl that is painful to have the advent calendars thrown in the road there is no need for that.
You were right to get the Xmas tree and decorate inside and out, I have done my tree and lights inside and out, not many houses have even put anything up in my cul-de-sac but I have always done it and will carry on as long as I am able it makes me feel happy.

Rhinestone Sun 06-Dec-20 12:13:09

YogagirlThank you. It’s Dec 20th though and coming up very quickly I’m afraid.

Yogagirl Sun 06-Dec-20 09:07:11

Petit Well done on giving your DH a good send off and glad to hear it all went well, with your DD1 too.

I was estranged on the 16th Nov. I had already bought their advent calendars, which were thrown into the road when I took them round for the 1st of Dec. I still had them in their gift sacks with other Xmas chocolate [& then Easter bunnies] I chucked them in the bin when I got Joey [7yrs on!] as he managed to pull the chocolate Santas out & unwrap them ready to eat before I caught him tchshock

As for the Xmas tree, I said I would not be celebrating Xmas, so no tree, but a week before Xmas I bought a lovely fresh tree, decorated it & outside lights too, stood back and admired the beauty. It did make me feel better tchsmile

Oh dear, seems the 20th Nov. is not a good date for you Rhinestone & Hugs

3nanny6 Sat 05-Dec-20 13:01:03

I'm glad to hear that everything went well and it is good that all the family were so supportive.
Life will feel so different without your DH so just take time
and go at your own pace in your recovery from grief.
Best Wishes to you and your D.Ds

Rhinestone Fri 04-Dec-20 23:12:18

PFSo happy that it went well for you.
Be kind to yourself and make yourself first now. You were strong for everyone .

hugshelp Fri 04-Dec-20 22:29:01

I'm glad it went well PF and so sorry for your loss. Take it a day at a time and take good care of you. flowers
