Just as we know the pain and anguish that words of anger, bitterness and sometimes hate can cause, we also know the power of words to comfort, support, understand and sometimes help to heal.

This is and always has been the reason for this support thread, it's why it was started so long ago and why it continues. The fact that true friendships are made as regular posters share much of their lives with one another, good and bad, is a wonderful bonus there for all who continue to post and for new comers too.

We do seem to get plagued by them on this forum which I do find odd. Either there's a lot of them or it's the same few using different names.

In any case they're not doing the EAC who post here any favours.

NiceDream Sun 22-Jun-25 12:42:13

I'm sorry you were exposed to that

Whiff Sun 22-Jun-25 12:20:02

I didn't engage with them just reported it after I read it . You wouldn't have wanted to read it was horrible.

NiceDream Sun 22-Jun-25 11:46:51

I didn't see whatever was deleted this time I don't think because I don't recognise Whiff's description

NiceDream Sun 22-Jun-25 11:43:04

They don't speak like any estranged child I have ever spoken to before so I don't know how to handle it. I also think engaging with them encourages them to make the effort to make a new account to reply so I won't be doing that.

Whiff Sun 22-Jun-25 09:19:03

That awful thread has been deleted. But as we well know they will be back. But it will be the same old thing. But that thread was the worse even though it wasn't real. But the thought must have been in the writers mind. That they would guilt free if their mother took her own life.

But the support thread will survive for another 12+ years. As it's needed now more than ever . Haven't read the posts yet just wanted to say glad GN took that thread down . I know it was reported a number of times me one of them.

Smileless2012 Sun 22-Jun-25 08:32:29

Good morning everyone.

You're absolutely right Allsorts. It starts off with one and either they're creating other accounts or they're attracting other like minded EAC. The 'supporting' posts from 'new' posters are definitely suspicious.

If I were an EAC on this site, I'd be reporting them too because it's not a good look for such unnecessary nastiness to be condoned with silence. We don't see it from EP's and we don't see it on any of the other forums on GN.

We cannot and will not let the trolls stop the support estrangement threads provide we wont Bridie.

I'm sorry that things didn't work out for you with your parents Milsa. You tried and I hope that having done so, you will be more at peace flowers.

Your cherries look yummy Sparkly you'll have to let us know if they taste as good as they look.

Had a lovely meal out last night and it's another beautiful morning here. No thunder storms for us, just two heavy but brief down pours yesterday afternoon, but it is fresher today which will be a relief for our dogs.

Bridie22 Sun 22-Jun-25 07:43:58

Agreed Allsorts, its getting out of control, but these sick people cannot be allowed to continuously disrupt threads, moderators need to get more control over them.

I think we need an extra layer of security for those on here, people under different names posting, then supporting there own posts causes mayhem.

Bridie22 Sun 22-Jun-25 06:50:47

Good news about Mr. B, hope he goes from strength to strength, its been such a stressful time for the family, sending good wishes.
Cooler today, but no storms here luckily.

Morning everyone. Smileless I am chuckling at your bottle comment. Very funny ha ha ha.

Mirsa you tried at least, you were turned down again, now maybe you absolutely know it’s not you being difficult.

Boiling hot here at 5.01 am. I agree about poor dogs, who can’t process extreme heat, being dragged around in it.

My cats have when they come in have been lying in my dark cool (ish) hall hyperventilating. Their little hearts pumping like mad.

Ive put water with ice cubes in it for them but they don’t seem to know what to do with it?

I might put an ice cubes in their meaty meals, see if that works.

This week I picked 26 cherries off my cherry tree. First time ever. I’d had it for three years. I don’t know what type of cherry it is because I bought the tree as a lucky dip.

I used a netting bag - cheap from Amazon - to protect the green cherries from the birds!

Have a lovely Sunday fellow estrangees.

Yes I echo is good you tried Milsa. I wonder how many broken relationships, how much sadness has been compounded because there wasn’t the courage to see if things could be different, to see if the years and time for reflection had changed anything? Brave of you but it was a good thing to do.

NiceDream Sat 21-Jun-25 18:46:07

Sorry things didn't work out Milsa, at least you tried

Milsa Sat 21-Jun-25 16:31:09

Was estranged with parents and then MIL. Covid made me reconnect and however, it never went back to something more. Just a little bit more with my brother but he can feel I am very distanced and do not accept invitations for visits to or fro

Smileless2012 Sat 21-Jun-25 11:51:02

That is good news Whiff and I'm glad she's having a break.

Love and hugs to you and Mr. B. Babs flowers (((hugs))) xx

NiceDream Sat 21-Jun-25 11:29:52

I have cats flopped about like cushions, too smart to be in the sun

Whiff Sat 21-Jun-25 10:55:10

Just had an email from Babs Mr B is back home . And she is going to see a friend while the family look after him to give her a break. I have past on all your messages .

Smileless2012 Sat 21-Jun-25 08:55:38

Morning everyone.

Just being at home was getting too much for our dogs yesterday afternoon Whiff so they had a walk much later on around one of the large ponds here, which has lovely cool woods with plenty of shade.

Had such a lovely day yesterday, went shopping early on and spent the rest of the day sitting outside with a good book with the soothing sound of our two water features and bird song.

Freshened up with a shower and change of clothes and then enjoyed a lovely BBQ courtesy of course of Mr. S. Out for a meal this evening with friends so looking forward to that.

Much cooler next week so we'll go to our flat and get on with those jobs that we keep putting off.

I'll now get on with the jobs that need doing before it gets too hot.

Whatever you decide, have a good day Yogin and keep cool everyone smile x

Whiff Sat 21-Jun-25 07:27:52

Smiles my son used to go mad about people walking there dogs in hottest part of the day. Especially on pavements where it could burn their paws. They always walked them very early and late. Plus he put up a shelter for them in the garden with plenty of water. And they loved having a cooling shower when he watered his veg patch .

Round here people are out before 6 walking their dogs and have seen some with a pack on with cold water in small boxes on their sides. And late night walkers . The joggers who normally jog with their dogs are doing it on their own .

Last night it was 28° in my living room at 10 with my fan on .

Yogin best to stay at home . If you got stuck in a traffic jam in this heat 🥵 you would roast .

Take care everyone.

NiceDream Fri 20-Jun-25 15:50:49

I would definitely stay home under a fan, I'm too hot today!

Smileless2012 Fri 20-Jun-25 13:37:43

I wouldn't go in that heat Yogin preferring to stay at home and keeping cool but if you do, hope you have a great time smile.

I'm beginning to wonder if two of our neighbours are trying to finish their dogs off!!! Just seen them come back with them from a walk shock. As my gran would have said 'thick as pig s..t in a bottle' angry.

Yoginimeisje Fri 20-Jun-25 09:04:08

Morning all

Another hot one. Was planning to go to an annual festival in London with all the family tomorrow, but as it's predicted to be 32c I may not go, my DD thinks the same. Also, it would be 3 Saturdays on the trot that I've left Joey, my son is here so he still gets his walkies & can sit in the garden or by the open patio doors, as he likes to do. Too hot to take him with me tomorrow plus he doesn't like the car.

Smileless2012 Fri 20-Jun-25 08:51:32

Morning everyone, hope you're managing to keep cool during this hot spell.

We're thankful it wasn't like this this time last year when we were faced with the mammoth task of downsizing for our move, and grateful that we can simply enjoy it here, doing as much or as little as we choose.

That's true Whiff, it's the EP's who are told they should seek therapy, never their EAC.

therapy can only do so much that's also true Starfire. You can be given the 'tools' but it's up to you to make proper use of them.

Starfire57 Fri 20-Jun-25 07:55:29

Whiff

NiceDream talk of therapy doesn't upset me . Glad it helped you . But these horrible posters always tell people who are estranged or think they are losing their children they need therapy. Them not their children. Then we have my therapist has said do this or the other . And my therapist says to cut you out of our lives plus some really outrageous advice . Which a true therapist wouldn't do .

But it doesn't just happen on estrangement threads but health and bereavement as well.

Be careful everyone as it's going to be 29+° today .

Have past your messages on to Babs and all your good wishes for Mr B .

The things people actually really need, love ( to give and receive), empathy, kindness, understanding and forgiveness are in very short supply these days. So no wonder they need therapy to deal with it all.

But therapy can only do so much, that I have found out.
