She must have been getting short of money, so thought up another ridiculous statement.
Will you be queuing up for the euthanasia van? grin

granjura Tue 28-Jul-15 17:55:13

The problem with those kind of ridiculous statements, be it from her or Paxman, is that it does damage the really serious campaign for 'Dying with dignity'- a great shame.

annodomini Tue 28-Jul-15 17:00:59

Didn't she drop out of the Apprentice just before the final? She probably knew she wouldn't win and didn't want to be seen as a loser. She makes a better living from being outrageously offensive.

Alea Tue 28-Jul-15 16:55:48

If anybody deserved the one way trip to the vet Dignitas Clinic, it is that woman angry

loopylou Tue 28-Jul-15 16:28:26

She's a gormless, highly opinionated non-celebrity IMO, not safe to be let out unsupervised.

She clearly fails to engage her brain before opening her mouth!

NfkDumpling Tue 28-Jul-15 16:20:38

Sorry Soon. I scanned down too quickly and missed your bit about the Apprentice. It explains everything (somewhat). I've only seen the odd snippet of the Apprentice. Can't watch it. I find the kids on there unbearable!

NfkDumpling Tue 28-Jul-15 16:14:48

Can anyone tell me who Katie Hopkins is? She keeps being quoted as an authority on everything, so who is she? Where did she come from? I assume she must be very educated to be such a universal expert!

janerowena Tue 28-Jul-15 14:37:28

She does say some truly dreadful things. I rather think that people admire her honesty, even if what she thinks is truly appalling at times. At least she's no hypocrite.

soontobe Tue 28-Jul-15 14:35:29

She started off on The Apprentice I think. Came 3rd? Was a hit in a sort of, wow way. Sort of mutually agreed to leave the competition as she wouldnt have wanted to be based in London permanently, when her kids were in Exeter. Something like that.
Then went on other reality shows.

sunseeker Tue 28-Jul-15 14:27:51

Can anyone tell me what this woman has ever done to deserve a place in the media? The first time I heard of her was when she went on some programme and insulted a woman who was overweight (I think!), before that I was blissfully unaware of her existence.

janerowena Tue 28-Jul-15 14:02:00

I thought it was really funny, it made me burst out laughing! I wonder if it's a bit tongue-in-cheek? She does say that she thoroughly supports Dignitas, maybe she's just thinking we would all be happy to have a cheaper service!

After all, ice-floes are going to be a bit harder to find in the future.

Anya Tue 28-Jul-15 13:34:07

And if the ice cream van is playing 'Save the Last Dance'..?..

Anya Tue 28-Jul-15 13:28:58

Merlot and be especially wary if the 'Leisure Break' has been bought for you by the kids.

Anya Tue 28-Jul-15 13:27:50

shock

merlotgran Tue 28-Jul-15 13:21:15

Anyone booking a Warner Leisure break will need to look very closely at the car park before getting their bags out of the boot.

HildaW Tue 28-Jul-15 12:17:28

She reminds me of the sort of annoying children that your Mother would tell you to 'ignore and then they'll go away'. Hence I cannot even be bothered to ever look up what she has spouted of late.

Mamie Tue 28-Jul-15 11:24:09

Maybe pop music of the time? So when we hear "She Loves You" we will know it's us.
"Come in 1968, your time is up". hmm

Anya Tue 28-Jul-15 11:03:39

Greensleaves, tinkly and only slightly out of tune would be an improvement on the ice cream vans around here. Sounds quite quaint compared with a strident and very out-of-tune Yankee Doodle Dandy.

I'm trying to picture what these Euphanasia Vans might look like hmm

Would they be plain White so as not to attract attention? Or plastered in adverts to drum up more business 'Dying to meet you' 'Free 12 month quote' 'Satisfaction Guaranteed' 'Buy One Get One Free'

And would we get a free 99 with flake?

thatbags Tue 28-Jul-15 11:02:36

Which epithet also applies to That Woman, naturally.

thatbags Tue 28-Jul-15 11:01:48

Not that I don't agree that we should have a Dignitas equivalent here. I think we should, but perhaps it's not necessary on every street corner which was presumably said for 'effect'. Daft bugger it is then.

thatbags Tue 28-Jul-15 11:00:18

I didn't hear or read that speech, ana. I daresay it was insulting to old people. The twerp will be old himself one day. In fact, he's old now. Not very old but definitely old. May his bones creak and his sinews rot, the daft bugger wink

Ana Tue 28-Jul-15 10:56:11

You're right of course thatbags. Still, the rest of Paxman's stand-up piece is pretty insulting to 'old people'!

rosesarered Tue 28-Jul-15 10:53:49

Should we bother even debating what Katie Hopkins says?

thatbags Tue 28-Jul-15 10:47:51

The difference between euthanasia and assisted dying, as at Dignitas, is huge. Don't confuse the two. One is imposed (no choice), the other is self-chosen, wanted in fact, when one is ready.

absent Tue 28-Jul-15 10:17:46

Mind you, if I was going to be compulsorily subjected to a slightly out-of-tune tinkly version of Greensleeves like an ice cream van chime, I might eagerly welcome death.

Ana Tue 28-Jul-15 10:16:33

Jeremy Paxman voiced a similar opinion nearly a year ago...

A Dignitas on every street corner
