Which adverts make you mad?

Alan Titchmarsh now advertises the funeral plan. As if he really pays in to one!
I feel sorry for the elderly man traipsing up and down stairs at his wife's beck and call, think it is about moving to a bungalow, only the calling still continues! I know an able-bodied wife who does that to her poor husband. I dislike the portrayal of helpless females.
Another hate is the collection of Nationwide ones where individuals spout poetry or prose. Oh, and the sofology ones!

There are few that I like, but do enjoy the little girl buying chocolate for her mother with her precious button, ring and unicorn.

Or what about Jenny Éclair and her Vagisan (or whatever its called) ? Yuk !

All the heart breaking charity adverts shown during the afternoon, not shown in the evenings so obviously aimed at a certain group hmm

Not so much that they are annoying, it's more when they are shown!
I don't really enjoy seeing a Tena pad advert (whichever it is, and I know that it happens), while I am eating my dinner each evening, likewise sanitary products.
My parents always used to complain that every time they sat down for a cuppa and biscuit in the afternoons, the Otex ear wax advert used to come on - yuck!
What I find annoying is promos for various forthcoming programmes over and over and over again at every ad break to the point where I can almost repeat them word for word!

Honestly I don’t take any notice when adverts are on tv/papers or pop up on the internet when adverts are on I nip out to make a cup of tea or go to the loo. Adverts aren’t on my radar at all.

I agree with most of the above.

What really irritates me is when clothes and gadget catalogues (OK, some of them do have stuff for more mature people) come with a load of leaflets about stairlifts, rising chairs, walk-in showers etc.

I love the tv programme 'mum' and find most adverts selling anything remotely aimed at mature people leave me feeling a lot like her.
I'm either too old and confused to understand the most basic things or I'm meant to be tearing around having the life of a 20 year old.
The equity release adverts are really creepy , it seems to be a 50's style subliminal message of how we are suppose to without question.
I love the funny ones where they use the CD drawer as a cup holder grin

Funeral plans, the silly viagra advert, Tena pads and life insurance for the over 50's.

gillybob Wed 05-Jun-19 10:40:33

Go Compare makes my blood boil and so does that stupid hotel comparison thing with Captain Obvious Grrrrr.

Anything to do with technology, be it new phones, the merits of sky, Virgin etc, always show the younger generation, do they think we oldies are complete technophobes?

Another hate vote for the June woman and the funeral plan. It is so badly acted that I doubt that they are professional actors and it was done on the cheap.

Although it might not be aimed at over 50s, the Wayfair advert with Lorraine Kelly jigging about makes me cringe.

gillybob Wed 05-Jun-19 10:38:45

Oh meant to add I think its a Lloyds Bank advert.

gillybob Wed 05-Jun-19 10:35:46

I like the horse and foal advert with music to match

Oh me too EllanVannin My older DGD's are horse mad and I always get a lovely tingly feeling when that advert comes on. smile

Oldandverygrey Wed 05-Jun-19 10:35:37

Peloton - people on exercise bikes, sweat dripping from their bodies onto the equipment ugh, the other one that gets me going is that June woman who knocks next door to her neighbour with post intended for him, they then launch into a discussion about funeral plans. Rivetting!!!

EllanVannin Wed 05-Jun-19 10:33:53

Most of them, particularly all the funeral plans and anything re. the elderly-----as if we're all the same.

I like the horse and foal advert with music to match. Can't remember what it advertises as it's not on for long. Only the annoying ones seem neverending.

lemongrove Wed 05-Jun-19 09:50:11

Parky selling prepaid funeral plans ( nothing wrong with prepaid funeral plans of course) but being given a small free gift wouldn’t tempt me, and I find him annoying.

Alima Wed 05-Jun-19 09:48:50

All of them so don’t watch commercial TV. Simples!

GrannyGravy13 Wed 05-Jun-19 09:47:27

Stenna (not sure about spelling) stair lifts, ridiculous the people shown using them look fit as fiddles!!!

Those chairs which you push a button and they help you stand, same reason as above.

Tena ladies, swinging through trees to reach your intended husband, young mum post partum......they didn't tell me about the "wee".

20 somethings advertising wrinkle cream.

Blimey I cannot think of an advert that doesn't annoy me!!!

We're doing some research again on advertising and how over 50s are misrepresented (if they're featured at all).
Have you seen any particularly bad adverts recently? Or any good ones? Thanks smile
