Why Is Kylie Trying To Be Madonna?

(78 Posts)

Isn't one Tired-looking-Old-Tart trying to be half her age quite enough? Kylie used to be pretty but, apparently, she can't accept that her vogue has passed.

Although she's staggeringly rich it's just not enough.

Why Kylie?

OH spent a weekend in Paris with Kylie in 1992. He said that she was great fun and totally charming.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 08-Apr-25 08:31:55

I expect that many of us on GN have famous people in their family or as family friends…

glasshalffullagain Tue 08-Apr-25 08:35:13

I once saw the back of that grumpy one from Strictly. Does that count?
Brendon?

Parsley3 Tue 08-Apr-25 08:50:15

In my teens I lived next door to a fellow who became a very famous football manager.
Kylie is still very much in vogue and I like her. Does tart still mean a female with loose morals?

henetha Tue 08-Apr-25 10:47:25

I like and respect Kylie. Why make unkind remarks about such a nice lady.

Oh, I thought you meant Craig for a minute, I was getting quite excited!

Kylie's great, many of her peers would no doubt be of the opinion "I should be so lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky" to look that good at 56.

NannyJan53 Tue 08-Apr-25 13:39:28

Par for the course with this OP. Many a nasty comment on threads in the past

Chocolatelovinggran Tue 08-Apr-25 13:57:00

I think she's good fun. I looked a lot more tired at 56.

Allsorts Sat 12-Apr-25 04:46:56

I think it's very unkind commenting on her looks. Let's hope you are not judged do harshly.. She's a performer and does it well.

Oreo Sat 12-Apr-25 09:19:27

I think Kylie looks fine, Madonna maybe another matter.
I also think it’s possible to comment on this without a witch hunt on the OP and her own right to comment.

Churchview Sat 12-Apr-25 09:34:41

In answer to the OP's question, 'Why Kylie?' I suppose the answer is because she's her own woman, she can do as she chooses with her life and appearance and being staggeringly rich isn't the be all and end all for everyone - there's more to life than money.

I agree

What an unpleasant post.

Blimey I wonder what you look like Mae13 let’s have a pic

An example of us women at our worst - bitchy, envious, comparing not according to how we are as people, but how we look. Pathetic, frankly

Why is mae13 starting such a vile thread? On holiday from school perhaps?

Mae13 is a prolific thread starter, p always have the salt pot handy, l believe Gransnet would be rather tame without her and her ilk.

I personally, would rather have tame than the nasty opening post. Anyway, there are plenty of wild, feisty posters on GN who don't resort to gutter misogyny.

cafe459 It depends whether it is just chat or something else.

A case of bitter envy dressed up as "I like to be controversial, attention seeking".

OldFrill Sat 22-Nov-25 09:20:56

I think Mae13, the OP, was hounded off.

Haven’t seen Kylie for a long time but last time I saw her she was very petite, attractive and put on a great performance.

I do think though that some female singers are going too far in what they wear. I am thinking of Ellie Goulding who frequently turns up in mini underwear, bondage gear etc. I always think they do it because their singing is so hopeless. I couldn’t even name one of her songs! It’s not just the lack of clothes but the provocative way they act on the stage and in photoshoots.

Wyllow3 Sat 22-Nov-25 09:32:11

It's the times we live in, Primrose.

But I have something I find truly bizarre.. At the gym most of us wear leggings as it's best to work out in. Including large ladies (with a nice long top)

but you should see the leggings that have bum pads in to enhance the bum appeal for some of the youf the ones parading around bit.

All can see the edges of the bum pads. 🤣

Kylie is 57 and looks absolutely gorgeous.

She's had a bit of Botox or something, but she's never gone way over the top.

Unlike Madonna, who has had so much surgery she looks like something from another planet. Monsterous and hideous.

As for calling Kylie and old tart, she's never married, had a few partners in the past, but isn't known for being cheap and slutty, which is the opposite to Madonna, that's had 2 divorces and multiple partners, so she obviously has no idea how to hold down a marriage or relatiuonship for any more than a couple of seconds.

Kylie doesn't sexualise herself, Madonna does. Have you seen that repulsive image of Mad Madonna ''giving birth to a tree'' because she's convinced she's the be-all and end-all of everything?

Leave Kylie alone. She's a lovely lady, very intelligent and hard-working, and she loves her fans, whereas Mad Madonna can't stand them because she's too full of her own self-importance.

eazybee Sat 22-Nov-25 09:39:55

My abiding memory of Kylie is of her singing one of her songs with two little girls who had recorded it to play to their terminally ill mother because it was her favourite song.

Don’t think that is Avery nice comment

Hurty words, eh?

I think having a go at Kylie is a bit of a silly idea.

Celebrities, actors/actresses, singers, wannabe's all put themselves under public scrutiny. Fair game I say.

^Her vogue has passed^
confusedconfused

What a strange turn of phrase.

As for the “old tart” comment - people in glasshouses etc.
- don’t hold back OP, but you could try to be nice. (For a change)

'Her vogue has passed' is a phrase lifted straight out of the novel "Forever Amber".

Having attained the status of high-class courtesan, due to a one night stand with Charles II, she is much sought after by various nobles. Then her novelty waned and she spends 3 nights in a row without any callers.

That's when the author, Kathleen Winsor, writes "she knew her vogue had passed".

Consult the novel for confirmation.
