Does anyone remember creamola foam?

Maggiemaybe Tue 28-Mar-17 19:58:20

Here it is on wikipedia, but the article apparently has "multiple issues", so don't take its word for anything!

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creamola_Foam

I'd forgotten it was in a little tin, with a paper seal. I feel quite nostalgic remembering how we'd lever off the lid with a teaspoon or a coin. I absolutely loved it, and now I'm wondering if this ties in with the other thread I've been on today, spouting about how I had to pay out to have tooth veneers fitted to cover my horrible, damaged front teeth.

Worth it though grin

i think it was a drink like cream soda. I am sure someone else will know.

This thread is six years old - and I still have no idea what Creamola Foam is!

WOOHOO just found some on ebay for £3.99

grannypiper Tue 28-Mar-17 16:39:32

Maggie and Tanith it was in a shop called Watts in Ayr but it was £6 a tin !

The foam shrimps mentioned earlier are still on sale everywhere, including Tesco and Sainsburys. I only know because I made a monkey themed birthday cake for DGS2 last week and googled the old foam bananas. They come in mixed bags, so I was forced to eat an awful lot of leftover pink shrimps blush

Is this what you found, grannypiper? I really want some now (pouts and stamps feet a la Verucca Salt). And some kayli.

tanith Tue 28-Mar-17 09:06:00

Do tell which shop I loved Creamola

grannypiper Tue 28-Mar-17 09:00:04

Hi there Gals
Does anyone remember Khali (or kayley, or kahli) can't remember how it was spelt, but we used to get 2 ozs of it in little bags and it was just like sherbert dabs, but without the dabs. You could make drinks out of it too. Oh the joys of Liquorice Wood.

How can I have forgotten so many of the delicious sweets of my youth?? Thanks Gransnet for reminding me...do remember penny arrow bars too and making Ginger Beer by putting hard liquorish into a bottle, topping up with water and shaking for hours ha ha.

sugar mice with string for tails-you could hold them by their tails and eat them. On love hearts, my daughter spread them on the tables at her wedding reception but took out the really rude ones.

my dad did not like holidays so we only went away once for a week in Blackpool. We stayed in a holiday flat and as a treat I was allowed a tin of red cremola foam- probably because it was cheaper than bottles of pop.

Lolo Sun 22-May-11 22:38:21

Yum, yum - yes I remeber Cremola Foam Crystals and the little metal tins they came in, we were not allowed 'fizzy' drinks but were allowed this as a treat.

Does anyone remember Chillo pink ice cream that you made yourself, oh it was so delicious. It was a lovely bright pink colour and was absolutely delicious. I liked the Fry's bars too and the Milk Tray block of choc with different flavours in one bar. Happy memories! x

We did not have sweets during the war, and amongst my friends, Nippets were the only sweet you could buy off ration. Minute hard black sweet, the size of half a pea, with a flavour of liquorice. They were mainly a cough sweet. We have an old fashioned sweet shop in our town where they are kept in 7 pound jars on the shelf,

Whilst in the 6th form I used to stop at the sweetshop on the way home and buy lemonade crystals and a stick of hard liquorice to dip in. I always told the sweetshop owner they were for my little brother as I was too embarrassed to admit they were my secret pleasure.

Happy memories, I remember all of these smile

I remember the 4 Blackjacks and Fruit Salad chews for 1 penny! I used to buy them at the station shop when I went to meet my Dad home from work (off the 5.15 from London Bridge!) I progressed to Lemon Sherbert sooked from a liquorice 'pipe' and then on to Honeycomb which, unbelievably, they sold in the school tuck shop - no wonder I spent so much time at the Dentist.....

I vaguely remember another fruit drink powder around the same time as Cremola foam. I think it was called Eiffel Tower. I used to love eating it without water, dipping a finger in, which became stained, especially with the raspberry version.

Oh yes, I remember the foil covered digestives. At one time I was running the school tuck shop and we sold those there.

clover Thu 19-May-11 16:35:45

I remember packets of broken crisps - I used to live in Lincoln and the Smiths Crisp Factory was there. I also remember shrimps - they were lovely too. What about Tom Thumb Drops and Sherbert Pips ?

supernana Thu 19-May-11 15:53:21

The darker the choc, the better...
