Lunch today was a banana dipped in home-roasted and mildly salted sunflower kernels. Haven't had that for years.

Butternut Fri 20-Jan-12 14:18:10

A duck egg alongside multi-grain toast with butter and marmite. Black pepper.
1 Clementine .

GoldenGran Fri 20-Jan-12 14:33:33

Miso soup and three rice cakes-- Am saving myself for tonight, as i am tsaking my daughter and my niece out for dinner, they will both be drowning their sorrow, so I am saving my ww points for a stiff drink and a good tuck in!

Gally Fri 20-Jan-12 14:52:27

Half an egg sandwich in Ikea followed by a couple of spoons of leftover carrot soup on return home followed by a yoghurt - guess wot - I am still hungry grin

GoldenGran Fri 20-Jan-12 15:22:58

susiecb Fri 20-Jan-12 15:50:34

Smoked salmon, calves liver etc etc, 2 white wine spritzers and coffee - it was my 33rd wedding anniversary and we went to a nice restaurant and I tried to stick to my diet a bit!

tanith Fri 20-Jan-12 16:06:12

Totally not exotic , half a toasted tea-cake with a glass of water, I've had either mild food poisoning or a bug since Tuesday and only just managed to start eating again.. but I lost 5lbs grin

Butternut Fri 20-Jan-12 16:24:09

grin tanith - there's always an upside!

tanith Fri 20-Jan-12 16:30:13

Indeed Butternut grin

yogagran Fri 20-Jan-12 21:13:12

Apart from susiecb you've all been eating so healthily - are we being honest here or are some of us being a little economical with the truth.
I had a bowl of not very nice tinned vegetable soup which had been languishing in the cupboard for months with some seeded bread, followed by a piece of chocolate coconut biscuity thing

yogagran Fri 20-Jan-12 21:14:47

Meant to add that I really liked the sound of baggy's lunch. Must remember that when I buy some more bananas tomorrow

Carol Fri 20-Jan-12 21:22:58

I had two slices of toast in between feeding and changing babies, with half a cup of cold tea - aahhh! takes me right back!

jeni Fri 20-Jan-12 21:36:08

Not going to say what I've eaten, I'm fed up, disillusioned and have dd plus dgd plus dd partner coming tomorrow til Sunday and then I'm meeting the outlaws for the first time at a restaurant!. I'm nervous. Do I try to be myself? ( bossy, obnoxious
Etc) or do I appear quiet, demure, unassuming and charming?
If I do the latter I feel the dcs will gawp! Help!

glassortwo Fri 20-Jan-12 22:09:27

jeni be yourself grin

nanachrissy Fri 20-Jan-12 22:30:32

I always eat modestly and healthily at lunch because I like a drink or two and a meal that occupies quite a bit of time in the evening. Now that I am a widow I find the evenings a little lonely. So my lunches are either fresh fruit salad or a home made soup.

greenmossgiel Sat 21-Jan-12 10:03:53

jeni - be yourself, of course! If they don't like it, then tough! smile

em Sat 21-Jan-12 10:18:51

jeni if you're nervous - just remember Keep Calm and Carry On. Maybe they're a bit nervous about meeting you. You do have something in common after all - that lovely dgd you all love!

jeni Sat 21-Jan-12 11:19:02

em et al. Thanks for the advice! If I'm going to meet any body I suppose I'd better get up and shower etc. lie in as painful foot all last night. faye stop passing your complaints around!

Ariadne Sat 21-Jan-12 11:22:49

flowerfriend that's what I do - save caloires for the evening. So lunch is usually one slice of wholemeal bread and two slices of Edam (I'm vegetarian and don't have dairy products on the whole, but know I need the calcium.)

If you're feeling lonely ((hugs)) there's always GN! x

absentgrana Sat 21-Jan-12 12:06:49

It is nearly lunch time and there is absolutely nothing in the fridge apart from orange juice, half a bottle of wine, half a jar of home-made mincemeat and various sauces, mayonnaise, vinaigrettes, etc. However, it is sparkling clean thanks to Mr absent – I just did the sorting and chucking. I had the last slice of bread toasted for breakfast. The fruit bowl is empty. I think I shall have to go shopping – and then maybe I shall pop into my favourite coffee shop for a sandwich (always served with salad on the side).

I'm cooking tonight for dd her partner and? gdd. Poussin with lemon garlic and rosemary. Baby new potatoes and veg. I can't remember when I last cooked a proper meal. Usually it's a take out when they come but in some mad moment I decided to cook! Hope it turns out ok. I am NOT the domesticated kind. Wish me luck!
