Tonight we had Chicken Kiev with Lyonnaise potatoes. I have to admit the CK was not made by me but a local butcher whose ready meals are really, really good but I did make the Lyonnaise potatoes myself and I know I shouldn`t blow my own trumpet but it was a good meal

Barbecued swordfish and avocado and tomato salad. We were going to eat in the garden, but once the temperature hit thirty we decided to hide inside....

Charleygirl Wed 16-Jul-14 17:22:37

Tonight, spag bol which I also had last night. I am working my way through unidentified packages of tin foil in the freezer and making a meal out of it!

merlotgran Wed 16-Jul-14 17:37:33

Caribbean fish pie from Levi Roots' 'Caribbean Food Made Easy'. Just as easy to make as our traditional fish pie but with lime juice and creamed coconut in the sauce and Jamaican spice in the mashed sweet potato.

Galen Wed 16-Jul-14 18:17:49

Prawn, black mustard seed and garlic from 'Made in India.

sparkygran Wed 16-Jul-14 18:22:47

Merlotgran sounds gorgeous would I be rude to suggest a cheeky little red went well with it????

merlotgran Wed 16-Jul-14 18:29:38

That'll be later, sparkygran. We eat fairly early so usually have a glass of wine when we can both sit down and put our feet up. wine

annodomini Wed 16-Jul-14 18:31:05

Probably nothing. Went out to lunch and had halloumi salad with roasted veg. It was so oily that I am still feeling full up. Won't ever order that again.

kittylester Wed 16-Jul-14 18:34:45

I'm jiggered so gammon, egg and oven chips - that's twice in a month!!

Lona Wed 16-Jul-14 18:38:03

hildajenniJ Wed 16-Jul-14 18:57:17

For dinner we had roast beef and yorkshire pud., new pots, cauliflower, carrots and peas. Tonight for supper we had tomato soup, ham sandwiches and jelly and fresh raspberries. DH had cream with his. He's on holiday this week.

Galen Wed 16-Jul-14 19:08:11

Oh! And I've already eaten a dinosaurblush

AlieOxon Wed 16-Jul-14 19:24:42

Lunch tongue, tomato (flesh only, fiddly but it was a beef tom) and mashed potato. Salad cream.
Two Murraymints.

We had a barbecue thanks to the Wonderful Man:
Pork chops; peppers stuffed with olives, feta and couscous; aubergine; courgette; mixed salad leaves; coleslaw; potato salad and tomatoes. Followed by home-made summer pudding and yoghurt/cream.
The lovely French girl who's living with us for the summer is apparently going to go home and tell her friends and family that the rumours of appalling English food are all lies! grin

Galen Wed 16-Jul-14 21:28:50

I must say that recipe was absolutely delicious!
I must try more from this new curry book. It was so easy and quick to do. Pity anyone near me tomorrow though. It had obscene amounts of garlic in it!

Nonu Wed 16-Jul-14 21:37:48

We had pork chops and salad, scrummy, strawberries and icecream to follow.
Although strawberries are beginning to creep up in price ,I notice!

Silverfish Wed 16-Jul-14 21:45:56

Tonight I had beans on toast and a fried egg on top followed by tinned rice pud with a few blueberries on top. I had left nothing out of freezer and fridge is empty and I had worked late so was too exhausted to go for a takeaway or to the supermarket so I had a really unhealthy meal but better luck tomorrow when I simply must go for food shopping.

Ana Wed 16-Jul-14 22:05:00

Nothing wrong or unhealthy about beans on toast! Or rice pud with blueberries...

Tegan Wed 16-Jul-14 22:11:42

Oh I had beans on toast two nights running last week. Not something I usually eat [especially if I'm going out anywhere the next day blush] but I saw a tin in the supermarket and had to buy it for my tea. Enjoyed it so much I had to have the same the following day. I wish you hadn't mentioned rice pudding because that's something I've been fancying for ages as well. With a dollop of jam on the top....

Nonu Wed 16-Jul-14 22:24:58

Nothing wrong with B O T , himself has it every morning with coffee .

Loves it to bits !!

grin

Nonu Wed 16-Jul-14 22:32:11

BTW TEGAN you won"t get BOT for breakfast when you are Stateside

they think it quite hilarious that we eat them for breakfast.

In fact it is most unlikely you will see them on the breakfast bars !

smile

vegasmags Wed 16-Jul-14 22:38:36

Chicken breast, spuds, cauliflower and peas. Followed by yogurt and a nectarine.

Tegan Wed 16-Jul-14 22:45:56

Nonu; as if I'd dare eat them if I have to sit on a coach with a load of other people every day blush.

Flowerofthewest Wed 16-Jul-14 23:08:54

Chicken salad with new potatoes. I left the rest of the chicken in a large 'pasta' bowl after DH and I had served ourselves. I also left a plate out for my DS to use. He came in later with said bowl piled high with chicken, ham, potatoes, crisps, grated cheese and salad. He thought that the half a chicken in the bowl was for him. Oh well!

Mamie Thu 17-Jul-14 17:30:54

Salad Olivieh. Strips of chicken breast, crushed eggs, crushed new potatoes, lettuce, cucumber, gherkins, green beans and celery in a lime juice mayonnaise. Just right for today as the thermometer is showing 36 degrees in the garden.

BeeWitch Thu 17-Jul-14 17:52:57

Ricotta-filled pasta, asparagus, yellow beans (home-grown from Lidl seeds - they are amazing) and home-grown lettuce (also Lidl seeds). Oh and a glass of red wine. Wine counts as one of your 5 (or is it 7 now?) a day - it's grapes isn't it? grin
