Tonight we had Chicken Kiev with Lyonnaise potatoes. I have to admit the CK was not made by me but a local butcher whose ready meals are really, really good but I did make the Lyonnaise potatoes myself and I know I shouldn`t blow my own trumpet but it was a good meal

Roast beef for us today a good piece of Aberdeen Angus from Costco thanks to DS1 and his members card and have made some horseradish sauce myself then going to try that new Eton Mess Icecream Carte Dor I think ? I have some fresh strawberries just to add a bit more flavour.

kittylester Sun 13-Jul-14 17:39:42

Nothing tonight but, for lunch I had soused herrings with curried egg salad, dexter beef, two sorts of potatoes, 4 veg and the most delicious jus that they made especially for me as the gravy wasn't gluten free and which I suspect was mostly red wine. No pud because I was stuffed.

DH had pan fried pigeon breast with rhubarb and various other stuff, lamb with all the trimmings and the most beautiful looking pink, mint jelly. He also ate my helping of tomato bread along with his own, so he didn't have pudding either.

Just going to loll in front of the telly looking like the wolf who ate the 7 little kids! grin

Simple tonight - thin-sliced grilled sirloin steak in a crusty baguette with salad and sweet mustard + couple of glasses of soft red Sangiovese de Romagna. Desert was a bar of chocolate-covered Turkish delight (small)!

suebailey1 Mon 14-Jul-14 12:02:57

Tonight its cold poached salmon salads and tropical fruit salad - we are trying to be very good at the moment. As soon as he is out of the door (to bowls) I'm having a couple of glasses of wine!

vegasmags Mon 14-Jul-14 16:27:31

I think I'm going to have hot smoked salmon with salad and new spuds. Not very exciting, but hoping for a reasonable weight loss at the weigh in on Wednesday. What I would really like would be croque monsieur and chips.

Coolgran65 Mon 14-Jul-14 17:46:59

Chicken stir fry with hot spices/peppers/scallions.... and Tilda wild rice (cheat - microwave). Hot roll from the oven.

merlotgran Mon 14-Jul-14 18:13:54

Roast hogget chump chops, minted new potatoes, shallots in cheese sauce, stir fried mushrooms, ruby chard and courgettes.

I love this time of year.

Nonu Mon 14-Jul-14 18:21:41

We are having the "left overs from yesterdays sumptuous meal" as DD sent us home with a "Doggy bag".

^ SUCH A SWEET GIRL^!

smile

I'm on day 4 of not knowing how many people are eating tonight. It's been 'fluid', family arrangements changing as quickly as i choose a menu. I've put the chicken (planned for Saturday, and Sunday ) in. It now seems I may be one of 4 people who live here to be eating here tonight. confused

sparkygran Mon 14-Jul-14 19:37:38

Leftover steak and kidney pie (still tasted good) new spuds so filling we couldn`t manage the rhubarb tart - must try harder

janeainsworth Mon 14-Jul-14 19:53:01

Iam64 It's so difficult when you don't know how many you are catering for, isn't it?
Ham baked with pineapple & mustard, new potatoes, tomato, courgettes and carrots.
Then home-made strawberry gateau, with a bit of cointreau whipped into the cream smile

sparkygran Tue 15-Jul-14 12:10:13
