Tonight we had Chicken Kiev with Lyonnaise potatoes. I have to admit the CK was not made by me but a local butcher whose ready meals are really, really good but I did make the Lyonnaise potatoes myself and I know I shouldn`t blow my own trumpet but it was a good meal

Grilled pork chops topped with apple sauce and cheese, new potatoes, green beans (from SiL garden) and carrots. Stewed plums (from SiL trees) and custard. Nice glass of white wine.

Have we all been on a diet ? hmm

Steak and ale pie, new pots, runner beans and carrots. Followed by stewed apples from my friends tree with some sultanas soaked in rum covered in low fat custard.

whitewave Thu 18-Sept-14 21:55:03

Serves 4
So fry off 1 onion in olive oil 10 mins then add bite sized turkey fillet (14oz)+ 1tsp ground coriander +1tsp ground cinnamon cook for a couple of mins.
add 5oz ready roasted red peppers - chopped, 17fl oz chicken stock I use a couple of cubes 400g chopped tomatoes and 400g chickpeas (drained and rinsed) 3oz dried ready to eat apricots (chopped a bit) + pepper and salt if stock isn't salty. Simmer for 15 - 20 mins. Mix in 2 oz of flaked almonds toasted and large handful of chopped coriander.

Serve with couscous

300g of this, 14oz of that... a complicated life you lead!

rosequartz Thu 18-Sept-14 22:49:21

Have we all been on a diet ?
Sadly yes, NanKate, which has resulted in me losing half a pound over the past week and DH (despite drinking some beer) losing four pounds. sad
Salmon, small jacket potato, grilled tomatoes (from the greenhouse) and green beans (from the garden) this evening, followed by baked apple (from the tree) stuffed with raisins and some custard.
And a small glass of white wine which is probably why I will only lose another half a pound by next week.

We had Nigella's lamb steaks with thyme, anchovies and pink Martini. Sounds odd but it's delicious!

Greenfinch Fri 19-Sept-14 08:42:32

Thanks whitewave. Sounds delicious. I can't wait to try it but will have to buy some turkey first and some apricots.

NanKate Fri 19-Sept-14 11:11:44

Hi Kitty just bought the Tailor made kit you suggested. Couldn't get the Korma but got the mild Coconut one instead. We are really looking forward to our supper tonight.

kittylester Fri 19-Sept-14 13:51:57

Flipping heck, I hope you enjoy it!!

NanKate Fri 19-Sept-14 14:41:26

As we say in the Midlands (where I was born) I will be Mardy if I don't like it Kitty.

Don't worry I like my food too much to be picky. smile

HollyDaze Fri 19-Sept-14 14:42:49

Mardy

I haven't heard that for years grin

NanKate Fri 19-Sept-14 14:51:51

To be honest Holly we used to say Mardy arse !

rosequartz Fri 19-Sept-14 14:53:55

Dunna be mardy, duck. Chin up, stop yer whingeing.

HollyDaze Fri 19-Sept-14 14:56:47

To be honest Holly we used to say Mardy arse !

I know wink

Nelliemoser Fri 19-Sept-14 14:57:50

NanKate I used Mardy arse in leicester no one knew what I meant in the Bristol.

HollyDaze Fri 19-Sept-14 15:03:27

I once told a non-Brummie friend to stop pithering and she had no idea what I meant lol

sparkygran Fri 19-Sept-14 16:16:52

Oh how good it is to be back with you all haven`t been dieting backed off from all that long ago and of course am not as willowy as I would like more trunky/chunky. Tonight it`s beef stirfry with rice and no pud.

hildajenniJ Fri 19-Sept-14 16:24:38

Our main meal is at lunchtime. We had Butter chicken with rice and spiced potatoes and naan bread, followed by plum bread and butter pudding. I know, too much bread, but it's diet day tomorrow. sad I love my food, but hate the extra weight I've put on since retiring.

Charleygirl Fri 19-Sept-14 16:24:54

Salmon salad with a baked potato tonight.

Mamie Fri 19-Sept-14 16:32:08

Spicy lamb, chard, date and borlotti bean casserole. I am drinking pink fizz to celebrate the fact that our low GI diet has resulted in OH now completely out of pre-diabetes and has a huge drop in cholestoral levels.
No sugar, full-fat diet. Interesting eh?

NanKate Fri 19-Sept-14 16:46:58

What fabulously exotic food we now eat compared with a slice of ham, half a tomato, some cucumber and bread and butter for my Sunday tea in the 1950s. Perhaps with tinned fruit and evap for pud (or sweet as we used to call it in Brum).

It's Friday so I think I will have a small bottle of cava, beats brown ale any day. grin

kittylester Fri 19-Sept-14 17:39:45

NanKate, I once tried to explain 'mardy' to a southerner and couldn't for the life of me remember any other word. blush

whitewave Fri 19-Sept-14 17:44:23

feetle I am ambidextrous!! (Probably can't spell either)

Tonight just a bowl of soup - ate a M&S at Mum's at lunch time which wasn't too bad - Salmon and Tarragon Sauce with asparagus.
