Tonight we had Chicken Kiev with Lyonnaise potatoes. I have to admit the CK was not made by me but a local butcher whose ready meals are really, really good but I did make the Lyonnaise potatoes myself and I know I shouldn`t blow my own trumpet but it was a good meal

Yours sounds better than mine Kitty! It was very good though. No.2 son added cheese and chilli sauce and mushed it all together so he could suck it up!

Yorkshire relish is like Worcestershire Sauce but gluten free!

Had a slight domestic with DH today when I blamed him for me not being able to cook a nice curry because he doesn't like it.

'Since when haven't I liked curry' replied DH. confused

We have only been married 42 years+ !

Anyone got a nice simple recipe for a mild curry please ?

kittylester Tue 26-Aug-14 19:24:53

If you want mild but simple Nankate, I can recommend the packets called Spice Tailor - the Korma is lovely. Very comprehensive instructions with a list of things you need to buy - usually just meat and/or cream, yogurt. A good way to try without buying all the different spices. I use them sometimes because they are quick even though I usually make my own curries from a very greasy and bespattered Madhur Jaffrey cook book. grin

Fish and vegetables (the weighing scales were not kind this morning, but I think they were lying).

Chicken in tomato sauce topped with sliced mozzarella and parmesan with roasted new potatoes and garlic and ginger green beans!

Rosiebee Wed 27-Aug-14 22:21:56

An all in one bake - Chicken thighs, red peppers, sweet potato and red onion. 20 mins later throw in sliced chorizo and a mix of maple syrup, five spice powder, soy sauce and garlic. 20 more minutes then eat with something green or plain bread.
While waiting for it to cook I made a simple chicken curry Nankate, using Patek's Korma curry paste and the recipe on the jar. Popped it in fridge and will have it on Friday. Tasty but not too hot.

Thanks Rosie it looks as if curry will be on the menu at our house very soon.

Saw several people buying Spice Tailor products in the supermarket today kitty. I'd never heard of it until you put it on your post on Tuesday. Have you started a buying frenzy grin.

OH has been out mushrooming all morning and he is now cooking pasta with chard, garlic and ceps.
He is drying a load more mushrooms and the house has taken on the distinctive perfume that will be a regular feature of the next two months if the season is a good one.

vegasmags Thu 28-Aug-14 17:17:36

mamie - I'd love to have a house that smelled of mushrooms! Tonight a friend is coming for dinner and I'm cooking slightly smoked salmon fillets in a watercress sauce that I concocted with fromage frais, new spuds and broccoli. Pud will be a lot of fresh fruit that needs using up - the supermarket kind that goes from rock hard to mush in 24 hours.

An exquisite, astringent, eye-popping lemon tart came our way this evening. Unforgetable!

kittylester Thu 28-Aug-14 20:32:40

We had a Spice Tailor curry tonight as I've had a trying day. They really are good!

Mamie Fri 29-Aug-14 15:19:16

Barbecued spare ribs (lovely warm and sunny day here), with a salad of green beans, fresh figs (our fig tree has finally given us enough ripe ones at once), and toasted almonds in a dressing with pomegranate molasses.

Tonight we are for a change , not having curry.
I am grilling some nice pork chops, accompanied by turnips, carrot, runner beans and new potatoes. It will be scrumptious, and Mr N will enjoy it very much as N.C have drawn

So he and Delia will be happy bunnies tonight !!

Made my world famous (well it has gone across the pond) pork and rice dish - we have just finished and it was as good as we remembered

Take away pizza, as the pizza take away in the village has just changed hands and the new owners do gf bases. sunshine After the week we've had. one way and another, I don't care if it costs enough to feed us for most of the rest of the week so long as I'm not cooking it and, most importantly, DH will go and collect it!!!

NfkDumpling Sat 30-Aug-14 18:21:20

He's unearthed a joint of lamb which has been lurking in the freezer since the kids came over and we ate out instead of in. He's also been pouring over his favourite Mary Berry book so I can't wait to see what appears!

NfkDumpling Sat 30-Aug-14 18:21:38

Love having a man wot cooks!

Galen Sat 30-Aug-14 18:39:20

TerriBull Sat 30-Aug-14 18:46:53

Marks and Spencer's Chicken Kiev, roast potatoes, broccoli and carrots, glass of red wine. Fresh fruit salad later, but only if one of us can be bothered to make it.
