A giant asteroid will hit Earth tomorrow, it's your last ever meal, what will you have?
A mild chicken Korma, with peas and fresh sliced tomatoes with a sprinkling of rick salt.
For pud, apple crumble and creamy hot custard.

Absolutely no contest, our love of good food is a lifetime relationship, the other loses its attraction with age and as for wine.....

rosequartz Sun 01-Nov-15 20:05:56

Yes, the food, most definitely grin
And the wine
Just think - no hangover!!

rosesarered Sun 01-Nov-15 19:54:04

Definitely the food, no contest! grin

Thank you roseq and roses

I thought so too smile

When I read "what a way to go", I was uncertain if you meant my son's intention or our gluttony? confused

rosesarered Sun 01-Nov-15 12:07:15

What a way to go, eh?grin

I asked our elder son the same question. He grinned, (he and his girl friend) We wouldn't waste time eating, we'd go upstairs and make the most of the time we had left.

I realised how the years divided us, so:

Roast turkey or pork, supported by onions. Served with baby broccoli, baby carrots, roasted potatoes and peppers. A gravy made with the stock, roasted onions and a splash of wine, red currant jelly and a glass of wine. Followed by a nut, cherry and brandy laden pudding with brandy cream.

We'd finish our cheese and crackling (if we'd eaten pork) and quaff a liqueur or two, hoping to feel thoroughly satiated grin.

I keep a third of crackling back to eat hot, with cheese and biscuits.
Sometimes, I sprinkle a mix of salt and chilli before grillinggrin.
We should feel thoroughly satiated, sitting before an open log
fire. smile

T?

Oh, a nice cup of brew always goes down well

rosequartz Sat 31-Oct-15 15:24:10

roses grin

That all sounds very posh Aurelia

The thing is - who will cook all these delights for us? Presumably everyone will be 'doing their own thing' and the chefs won't want to spend the last day in a hot kitchen

Aurelia Sat 31-Oct-15 14:36:05

Well, I noticed that we hadn't been blasted into oblivion yet, though sometimes it's hard to tell up here, so here's my menu. thlsmile

Caviar nibbles with Billcart Salmon fizz
Small fruits de mer
Foie gras with toasted brioche & Sauternes
Roasted turbot (maybe a bit of salad with this, especially if made by Georgio Locatelli)
French cheese board, including camembert with truffles and something blue and runny, served with port.
Pineapple Romanoff with a side of chocolat marquis.
Neuhous chocolates and Laudree macarons served with lashings of calvados.

You really will go out with a bang , with all the bloating! grin

rosequartz Fri 30-Oct-15 23:39:37

And I may join stillhere in a loaf of crusty bread with Cornish butter, following by cake that isn't gf!!

rosesarered Fri 30-Oct-15 19:53:37

I'm thinking Christmas dinner now.....the whole works and for afters, Christmas pud, brandy butter and cream ( which for me is a no-no usually)but what the hell!

Ana Fri 30-Oct-15 19:46:23

I'll join you and annsixty, rose - never mind the duck breasts, I'll just bring my own Chablis and have a couple of sprouts...thlgrin

rosequartz Fri 30-Oct-15 19:39:07

Just a bottle or two of wine will do thlwink
Then I wouldn't care or worry about what was going to happen

Other than that, I will be round at annsixty's house - but with a large bag of sprouts! And another bottle of Chablis and a bottle of something to go with the pudding. Plus some calvados with the coffee.
Then I wouldn't care at all.

annsixty Fri 30-Oct-15 19:02:13

We really are having the duck breasts tomorrow but no other courses.

Ana Fri 30-Oct-15 18:52:34

Yes, I've often wondered about that...thlconfused

rosesarered Fri 30-Oct-15 18:46:13

'The condemned man ate a hearty meal'..........

Ana Fri 30-Oct-15 18:44:36

If I knew I was about to be annihilated, I'm sure I'd be too scared/worried to eat! thlshock

rosesarered Fri 30-Oct-15 18:43:22

I don't think I am such a 'fine diner' as some on here, with very refined taste!grin

annsixty Fri 30-Oct-15 18:41:08

Well as I ate the other one in the week I am going for;

Mushrooms in a stilton sauce

Duckbreasts with a cherry and red wine sauce with saute potatoes, baby corn and sugar snaps.

Eton mess with cream on top

Suitable wines with the first two courses.

Gaviscon for a chaser.

rosesarered Fri 30-Oct-15 18:15:00

Another giant asteroid is due to hit us on Sunday..... So,a last chance for anyone new to arrange that last meal, or revise your old one, I am changing mine for a really fabulous fish pie, peas and mashed swede, followed by plum crumble and vanilla ice cream.smile

Drummerman Fri 30-Oct-15 12:09:04

Full Roast....Wine with every course...Vintage Port...And a nice single malt

KatyK Thu 29-Oct-15 14:41:03

I am always very sensible with my eating, trying to keep my weight down and be healthy. I can't remember the last time I ate a pie although I used to love them. Therefore my last meal would be a stodgy pie and chips from the chip shop and several slices of white bread and butter. Oh and mushy peas grin

TheMillersTale Thu 29-Oct-15 13:09:12

Yes, I felt dyspeptic just writing that Rose smile
