When I was wee, we always went to my granny Sarah's on a Friday, and had Heinz tomato soup with Marshall's macaroni. It's not the same nowadays.
We also got tinned hamburgers of an evening (mibbe Westlers or Co-op?) with processed peas and chips. Once again, it's not the same. Is it because the taste buds are dying?

Same here. Loved Iced Gems, marshmallow tea cakes etc., I was eating them into my 50s and then suddenly didn't fancy them so much.

If you're over 60 or so, you will remember sweet rationing and how we had to savor any sweets we had.

I remember my first Bourbon biscuit at my 7th birthday party. They tasted wonderful.

I loved Marshall's Farola pudding. You can't buy Farola in England now, just in Scotland. Semolina is a good substitute, but not as smooth and nice. Eals ices. Local ice cream firm now sadly no more. He sold home made ice cream in cornets and gave you a choice of fruit flavour syrup over the top.
I also remember the highland cow toffee, 3d a bar. I used to buy it on a Saturday when the fruit and veg man came down our road with his tractor and trailer. He also sold Hoggetts crisps, the only place you could get them. I used to love rainbow sherbet too, you could buy it loose in little paper bags. Oh the happy days of childhood!
