What's for tea tonight?

On a diet, so me: Lunchables followed by a pot of lemon mousse.

Everyone else: Chilli and spuds. envy.

Tonight will be half a sirloin steak with trimmings and loads of vegetables. I cannot manage a whole steak these days.

I have not had breakfast yet so it will be a sort of brunch with fresh pineapple and pears.

I've had fish and homemade chips lunch. For tea tonight I'm planning on making carrot and coriander soup which I will have with a sandwich of some sort.

Just made quite a fiery chilli con carne with rice, and made enough for two days, as busy tomorrow.Gooseberry yoghurt for pud.

I am hoping for a hot dog, a hog roast roll, several cakes and an ice cream, from a Spring Fair. No tea will be partaken off.

Roast pork with all the trimmings as GS is coming and it is his favourite. (He got quite grumpy last time he came because we had roast beef! But he ate it anyway, surprise surprise!) Followed by apple and blackberry crumble and custard. Or grandad's orange jelly. Or both! shock

A huge plate of roasted veg slightly overdone so the red onion goes crispy , my favourite . Maybe a decent sausage on the side , Aldi pork and apple are nice ! Tomorrow Chicken browned off then cooked in port with a splash of water , a stock cube and when it is thickened with cornflour add a spoonful of double cream , serve with whatever veg I fancy .

For the fourth night in succession we'll be eating out! Beat that! Lol!
Friday we went to a nearby carvery as we'd had DGC and I'd been working too so we were too pooped to cook anything.
Saturday we were going to see a show so went to the pub across the road from the theatre for a cheap and cheerful meal.
Last night met up with my dear sister and had a lovely pub meal-sis and I kids roast dinner-delish!
Tonight we're taking DH's sister for a pub meal.
Suppose we will have to start eating at home again soon-sigh!

We had a roast chicken dinner last night and I was going to make something with the remains, only one breast used for dinner, but guess who left the chicken to cool in the microwave and then forgot to put it in the fridge. Doh!! So it's a scratch dinner tonight.

a yogurt! We went out to celebrate our 45th anniv- and I am stuffed (big salad, followed by tiger prawns for DH and roast chicken for me with all the trimmings (rice, not chips) and ratatouille. We shared a 'pear wine' tart- delish followed by coffee.

Congrats on your 45th granjura. After several days of salads I threw caution to the wind and made our favourite macaroni cheese. Can smell it now cooking along nicely. Pure comfort food, cannot wait for dinner time.

For our tea tonight we are having gammon, eggs fried in duck fat and some muchrooms sauteed in butter. With them we are having triple cooked chips as I am trying to replicate some we had on holiday. Of course, I didn't realise that the temperature was so critical and have had to go and buy a thermometer. The chips have been parboiled (just until they start to crack!!), put in the fridge for an hour, deep fried in oil at 130 for 5 minutes and are currently chilling out in the fridge before being plunged into fat (at 190) for a further 8-10 minutes. Talk about stressful! Oven chips are quite good too!! grin

We also bought some cushions for the garden chairs while we were out buying a thermometer - cue wind and rain!!

Jeberdes 83, I "got into trouble" a couple of months ago, for complaining about people calling their evening meal "tea". I had to apologise.

wot I think it depends what part of the country you're in/from. Where I'm from, dinner has always been in the middle of the day, and tea is the meal date later in the evening (although not in the sense of "high tea"). Tea was always a proper meal in our household, taken at around 5pm, and followed by a light supper at around 9pm.

I don't have dinner any more, unless it's Sunday. I have lunch instead.

Yeah, the soup didn't happen, not in the mood to faff around. Put some oven chips in for tea and had a butty with them and garlic mayonnaise and a coffee. Just food tonight, not in the mood.

Chinese take-away for us tonight. Was going to be a special offer spatchcocked poussin from that nice Mr Waitrose, with Madhur Jaffrey's recipe for black pepper potatoes and spicy green beans, but we didn't get round to it, so that's for tomorrow. Mind you, the chicken does look a bit sparrow-like even though it's claimed to feed two. And what was tea when both of us were growing up has now become dinner.
