Do you have chips often? If so, how do you make them?
I don't like the smell of deep fried food, so only cook shop-bought chips (Steakhouse) in the oven. But they're not very tasty or crisp. Cut-up pink potatoes oven roasted in olive oil are much nicer.
I have a deep fryer, but can't forget the time the oil went rancid and the smell was awful.

It's about common sense not links. However if i do decide to go down the doctors know all in collaboration with what pays link I will surely let you know.

smile
good idea!!

Here's a suggestion saak. It might help Jalima and me and many more. Post a few links to your own published research along with details of your qualifications and clinical experience. Add other useful links (which you needn't summarise as we can read and comprehend) and perhaps we'll listen and maybe even admit you have a point. NOT!

Never said i did understand your DD's issues. I feel for you. I said that gluten is not most peoples problem, wheat is. I also said that "gluten" free products are expensive and something that supermarkets cash in on.

Jalima1108 Sun 23-Apr-17 20:06:37

mcem it does make life very difficult I know.
Luckily my DD has been a lot better since a fairly recent diagnosis but spent years from babyhood blighted by ill-health and no-one seemed to be able to find out why.

mcem Sun 23-Apr-17 19:51:47

You know nothing at all about my DD's very complicated issues yet seem to want to dish out your blanket, simplistic diagnoses. Arrogant or what????

stillaliveandkicking Sun 23-Apr-17 19:45:57

You do that, really do. Medics can be very wrong you know, or don't you?

mcem Sun 23-Apr-17 19:30:08

As jalima suggested then I'll take saak 's posts to Dd's consultant and tell him that a woman 'who knows all about it' says he's wrong.

stillaliveandkicking Sun 23-Apr-17 19:22:09

Its rarely gluten, its the other products that to mention them there would have to be huge rethink, yes doctors are pretty wrong in this.

mcem Sun 23-Apr-17 19:07:52

No beer jalima - no alcohol at all because of her drugs.

mcem Sun 23-Apr-17 19:05:31

Fad or not, I'm glad it is easier to find gluten-free foods now than it was 5 years ago. Another complication of DD's condition is that she must have a soft diet. The fact that gluten-free pasta is freely available helps greatly.

stillaliveandkicking Sun 23-Apr-17 19:04:22

Im definitely a woman (well was the last time I looked) so not sure where that's coming from. I have also done my "research" and gluten is not the big problem here. But its ok if you ignore me Im good with that.

Jalima1108 Sun 23-Apr-17 19:00:37

best ignored I think.

Jalima1108 Sun 23-Apr-17 19:00:04

No beer either mcem ! (barley)

take him/her saak's posts and tell him/her he/she needs to do more research!!

It is great that there is so much more variety of gf food available in the supermarkets these days, although at a premium. But, of course, checking every label on everyday foods can be time-consuming.
As does cooking from scratch.
Although chips are easy!

Undiagnosed it can cause years of ill-health and other problems.

stillaliveandkicking Sun 23-Apr-17 18:53:01

Its wheat, its wheat, very rarely gluten.

Norah Sun 23-Apr-17 18:51:44

Coeliac disease and gluten intolerance are a big deal if one has the problem as so many do. We have a ggc who is horribly sick to any gluten in her food. Why must wheat flour be in so many foods without reason?

merlotgran Sun 23-Apr-17 18:51:20

I have gluten intolerance and DGS has coeliac's disease.

It's a big deal if you don't follow a gluten free diet.

stillaliveandkicking Sun 23-Apr-17 18:48:05

When did is say that. I said it was far rarer than wheat intolerance. Most people do not have this, Im sorry you do.

kittylester Sun 23-Apr-17 18:42:12

I have gluten intolerance so it is a big deal.

If I ingest gluten I spend the best part of a week rushing to the loo, bloated, feeling sick, aching and itchy.

mcem Sun 23-Apr-17 18:40:59

To try to ease her horrific digestive problems my daughter has been told to follow a gluten -free not wheat-free diet.
Should she tell her specialist he's got it wrong?

stillaliveandkicking Sun 23-Apr-17 18:35:25

I know all about it Jalima, how could I not smile No I don't have coeliac. I'm just saying that gluten isn't the big problem, it's a faddy way to make money in the supermarkets. Wheat based products however are.

Jalima1108 Sun 23-Apr-17 18:31:52

The incidence of diverticulitis increases with age whereas people are born with coeliac disease.

Have you ever been tested for coeliac disease? It is often misdiagnosed as diverticulitis.

stillaliveandkicking Sun 23-Apr-17 18:31:47

Its not having it my own way at all. But thank you.

Jalima1108 Sun 23-Apr-17 18:29:15

Have it your own way smile
