What was the best dessert or meal you've ever eaten? And where were you when you ate it?

The best dessert I've ever had was a pistachio canolli in a little cafe in Sicily. I'd gladly go back just to taste that luciousness one more time. Mmm...

Oh, Felice, I have to ditto kebabs (souvlaki type) in Cyprus. Done on the charcoal, and especially in nice fresh pitta bread with salad, delish!
I've tried to reproduce at home, with pork fillet done on the barbie - oil, salt and lemon juice added - and they've turned out pretty well.
I would never have thought of lemon juice on pork until I lived in Cyprus but it goes so well. They put it on so many things, including spinach, which gives that a huge fillip, too.

I will forever remember Lobster Linguine at a family Italian restaurant in Lincolnshire.
I've lived in London all my life yet this is the best meal I have ever tasted.
Any pavlova /meringue based dessert is a winner with me.
Although an Eton mess that looked divine once turned out to be made with yoghurt..!!!! No cream!!!
Chefs "original twist".
Chef got his twist sent back to him with my great disappoint mentioned.
Don't think I've got over it yet?

the best meal I've ever has was in Krakow stuffed cabbage , mashed potato and tomato sauce. I even told DH that he must taste the potatoes as they were heavenly

I once stayed with a family in Krakow for a week. They were lovely people but Poles at that time had hardly ever met anyone who did not eat meat.

I couldn't have stuffed cabbage which generally had meat in the stuffing, so I got plain boiled cabbage, fermented or pickled cabbage. At the end of the week I did not want to see any more perogi or borscht.

Hold on, aren't we deviating from the OP which was about desserts?!

Sorry. I don't eat many deserts but a good summer pudding can be delicious, served with cream.

So many, but probably the time 35 years ago when we drove down a steep rocky track in Ibiza, walked across a 'working' beach and waited for the daily catch to be brought in whereupon mother and daughter set about preparing the most amazing meal. All kinds of fish, grilled barbecued & cooked in different ways culminating in a huge pot of soup sooked up with homemade bread. The kids played on the tiny beach for hours between courses. An amazing experience. Went back 10 years later: the track was now a road and a posh restaurant at the bottom. No sign of the simple fishing family. Progress Hrrmph

But on the other hand sat on a boat off a Jamaican beach eating from a huge platter of tropical luscious fruit, was quite remarkable.

Delectable home made rum and raisin ice cream, in the dappled shade of a Parisian garden forty five years ago... Sigh!

I had a wonderful pudding only last week: panna cotta with carpaccio of pineapple with fresh lime juice and chilli. Sounds odd? The vanilla panna cotta was perfect in flavour and texture and the shavings of pineapple were soaked in the lime juice and speckled with the lightest dusting of chillis. Absolutely delicious combination! Yum and yum again. Sigh.
