This is a silly question and I think I know the answer but has anyone ever tried to freeze doughnuts?
Our local supermarket sells absolutely divine doughnuts but in packs of five!
I am trying to lose weight and my system is to diet all week but have a treat on Sunday when I could spoil myself with a doughnut, but more than one is a definite NO-NO!!!

Yes and if you put them in the microwave they taste like freshly made - the outside is warm but be very careful jam is red hot - enjoy.

I don't like doughnuts either. Too greasy! Now chocolate ....!

Doughnuts actually have all the ingredients which make them addictive and act on the brain and pleasure centres. Sugar, fat and carbs. I wouldn’t dare buy a pack as I know I would eat the whole lot, fresh or frozen! They are the crack equivalent in food form!!?

Tesco reduce their cakes to pennies at the end of the day and I freeze everything then I warm them in the microwave- yummy, especially custard doughnuts. I also freeze crusty bread which is just as nice when you defrost it.

I have seen them in Iceland but I have never tried them.

When my children were little I had a Swiss roll in the freezer waiting for a trifle at the weekend, but they fancied some cake, so I took it out. They didn't want to wait for it to defrost so I sliced it to speed up the process. Oh it certainly speeded up the process all right - they ate it frozen and so began their lifelong love of frozen Swiss roll grin

Meat, fish, eggs, cream should not be re-frozen for health reasons, but baked goods will do you no harm frozen, that you wouldn't suffer just from eating them fresh.

If you have the will-power not to hear them calling you from the freezer, just go ahead and freeze them.

I used to like the doughnuts we had from the “proper” bakers, but our supermarket rolls theirs in icing sugar, which just isn’t the same. Probably just as well....!!

Sadly, I have no willpower where cake is concerned

I must be fortunate as I don’t like doughnuts even the smell of them cooking in the supermarkets makes me feel queasy.

We always had our doughnuts warmed in the oven - crispy on the outside and so yummy! My Mum usually overdid it and the jam was like molten lava so take care!

grandtanteJE65 if meat & fish has been frozen then cooked it can be frozen again safely, just make sure you reheat correctly, I've been doing it for years & I'm still here to tell the talehmm. Why would you freeze eggs? Freeze cream, haha never lasts long enough to reach the freezer in my housegrin

I love doughnuts. In fact, I never met a cake I didn’t like.
No food should EVER be forbidden - the only forbidden part is the vast quantities I would like to consume! grin

I love anything with carbs! cupcake trying to cut the bad ones now to lower blood sugar. sad

I've been freezing them for years. Defrost on the defrost setting, turning over after about 10 seconds. If you overdo it the jam will ooze out. Shouldn't do for more than about 20 seconds, then leave for about 5-10 mins to carry on defrosting after removing from microwave. Be careful of hot jam!

250 calories is not that many for a teatime treat. Most cakes would be more than that.

Obviously, don’t eat two!

My daughter used to work in a supermarket and I was surprised to learn that the donuts came cooked and frozen, the staff just had to leave them to defrost the night before and then bag them in the morning, it is the same for a lot of the pastries and also some of the breads
