I grew up in a household that was never without a jar of Branston Pickle and for all of my 49 years of marriage we have also always had a jar of this delicious pickle in the kitchen. (Although my husband can't stand it!)
What food items have you always got in your cupboard or fridge?

Rooibos tea and decaf coffee. And milk.

I'm never without all the store cupboard standards such as eggs, flour, butter, bread, sugar, tea, coffee, milk, cheese, salt, pepper and so on.

But I don't suppose the OP was thinking of these, but rather what non-essentials we always make sure we have.

For me that would be porridge oats, mayonnaise, sweet chilli sauce, Worcester sauce, and yes, Branston pickle!

If wer'e just talking about Non essentials then this house is never without Bananas or Dark chocolate...

Marmite- love it on toast for breakfast.
Also good coffee pods & Rooibos tea.

Obviously wine & gin!

All the usual 'go to' things but would really miss fresh fruit and a jar of marmite! I love bread and butter and eggs. I would be happy stranded for a few days if I only had those things in the cupboard!

jenni123 Mon 18-Mar-19 11:11:44

Marmite and strong cheddar cheese. Mayonaise

Brigidsdaughter Mon 18-Mar-19 11:13:58

Tea (currently Assam, Lapsang and Redbush)
Scott's Portage oats
Kerry gold
Milk (skimmed, fullfat and Almond)
Coffee
Three of us complicates it all

Brigidsdaughter Mon 18-Mar-19 11:16:07

I've been a Redbush only drinker for years but had Lapsang a while back. Every time I make it it reminds me of visits to one particular aunt who always had a turf fire going. The smokiness. Smells are so evocative

Heinz tomato soup.
The first thing I crave when getting my taste back after a cold.
Never at any other time though.

Jayelld Mon 18-Mar-19 11:40:58

Potatoes milk and, of course, chocolate!

gillyjp Mon 18-Mar-19 11:42:47

Yorkshire tea bags. I blame the parents as my dear old Dad used to wake us up in the morning with a cup of 'char' and the habit has lasted 65 years! I always take tea bags on holiday too although you can get yellow label tea bags in Greece so they will do at a pinch.

loopyloo Mon 18-Mar-19 11:42:59

Dijon mustard.

HappyBee Mon 18-Mar-19 11:57:43

Marmite! ? This is because my daughters absolutely love it! We have just had a new kitchen fitted and yet the jar of marmite had gone back into the cupboard “just in case” we get a visit from the kids! ?

A tin of cocoa . I don't make cocoa very often but I do like to know that I can if I want to.
