Revolting breakfasts

I have just watched DH toast a fruited teacake and spread one side with marmite and one with honey. I thought it was bad enough on his avocado squashed up with Worcester sauce days.
Anyone else watching a revolting breakfast?

Sadly, I can no longer indulge, sad current wink dh doesn't "do" puddings, so no trifle at Christmas!

After an overnight flight breakfast was served on the plane. I watched the Japanese man next to me cut his roll, spread it with butter and then make a sandwich with the packet of Polo mints provided.

When I was with exdh, I would make a pretty decent trifle (although I say it myselfblush) at Christmas.

I always had a bowl of it for breakfast on Boxing Day! grin

A tea stained egg growstuff? They are very popular. I've never tried one. The red bean dumplings (more like a bread roll with a bagel-like exterior) were very popular at my Chinese school. Not my cup of tea. But the school breakfast noodles I could have eaten three times a day, every day.

GagaJo My Chinese student was at a boarding school in China. She was given a hard-boiled egg, a glass of milk and a banana every day for breakfast. Now she lives in England, she can't face eggs or bananas and eats cereal for breakfast.

I agree with you Jane10 I love kedgeree, although I never have the patience to make it for breakfast. I love kippers and Arbroath smokies too.

Avos are best with just salt, or, as I prefer them, with lemon juice.

The ones we get here are awful.

I love kedgeree!
But for lunch or even supper.
DH won't eat it. However, it's quite easy to make with one of those packets of 2 minute microwave rice.

I love my breakfast and can enjoy most things. The offerings on here that would faze me are the avocado and Worcestershire sauce, the raw onion and the sardine curry. envy

We did have other curries for breakfast in Sri Lanka though. In fact the dahl there was the best I’ve ever tasted and I had it at every buffet meal.

Breakfast is such a cultural thing. When I was living in China one of my private tutees was horrified at the thought of bread or cereal for breakfast. Her favourite was noodles with vegetables. Mind you, I'd eaten her granny's food before (granny lived with them) and it was incredible. I'd have eaten anything she put in front of me.

My late Aunt who lived in Uganda for many years had an avocado tree in the garden. She ate her avos covered in Worcester Sauce all her life. Me, I prefer them with vinaigrette but not for breakfast although I’ll often eat a poached egg on avocado toast with wilted spinach. Yum. In Kenya we were often offered ‘party’ cakes covered in sickly pink, yellow or blue icing for breakfast. The children obviously preferred them to the somewhat dubious and unidentifiable other offerings.

I always buy my partner a box of nice chocolates (Hotel Chocolate) for Chr***mas and he always eats the whole top layer for breakfast on Chr***mas morning!
It’s his favourite breakfast of the year.
It makes my teeth ache just thinking about it.

I have seen my dad eat slices of bread spread with dripping and slices of homemade brawn (from pigs’ heads) for breakfast. He was rarely ill and ate some odd old-fashioned thrifty dishes.

I couldn't eat breakfast in our hotel in Japan as I couldn't cope with a whole fried egg being eaten with chopsticks. ??

We once sat next to a German couple in a B&B.

We chatted as DH and I tucked into a full English. The couple had ordered muesli, to which they added milk, yoghurt, honey and blueberries. I thought it looked delicious until they each tipped their glass of orange juice over the whole lot and slurped their way through it. shock shock

I like marmite but not on teacakes Teetime each to his own though.
I love smoked haddock and kippers but not first thing in the morning. Nice for brunch.
Obviously my favourite is croissant and pain au chocolat but not too often.

A hotel we stay at sometimes in N Qeensland serves a variety of breakfasts for many nationalities.

Likewise kippers, lying on the plate, sightless eyes staring up at you - none of those boil-in-the-bag with a pat of butter travesties, pleaseshock
Worse breakfast recently was one that was ***ed on Trip Adviser in Asheville, North Carolina. First course, Baked Apple, cored and filled with crystallized sugar, maple syrup poured over, followed by 'bacon and eggs' = bacon strips with maple syrup and eggs, sugared, third course? Dunno. We escaped the dining room at this point, returned to our rooms,brushed our teeth, gargled, then went out to find a Lebanese restaurant where we ate magnificently, no sugar in sightgrin
