I’m in Dorset and cannot find blancmange powders in any nearby supermarkets. Usually it’s Pearce Duffs brand but any help much appreciated

It's only flavoured and coloured cornflour, which is easy to find.
As with custard powder.

I was never keen on blancmange as a child----too cloy.
Even jellies aren't the same without their original ingredients of animal gelatine.

Plenty of choice on Amazon!

Look on line for The British Corner Shop. Plenty there.

I didn’t know it still existed. I always loved blancmange, but then I like almost everything sweet, unfortunately.

Just checked online, Asda and Tesco have strawberry, Sainsbury’s a selection. Bought back memories, Christmas Day tea, jelly, blancmange, tinned fruit cocktail, evaporated milk, thin brown bread and butter.

I can’t find kidney. I wanted ox but at a push Lamb or pigs, but not a kidney in sight. Even my farmer is all sold out.

PS I have some blancmange in my cupboard. Doesn’t help though.

BBbevan Wed 16-Dec-20 19:03:23

No blancmange in S W Wales either. I have found a packet of chocolate blancmange powder at the back of the cupboard, dated 2002. I might put it on eBay

I really fancy buying a rabbit shaped mould now and making a pink blancmange rabbit in a bed of angelica grass...

EllanVannin Wed 16-Dec-20 19:06:46

I've got a pkt of butterscotch Angel Delight in the cupboard----much nicer grin

FannyCornforth Wed 16-Dec-20 19:08:02

Butterscotch angel delight! Now you're talking! tchsmile

Beechnut Wed 16-Dec-20 19:09:13

We always had a pink blancmange rabbit with currant eyes for our birthdays Fanny.

Beechnut Wed 16-Dec-20 19:11:11

I used to love butterscotch Angel Delight and peach. Think I’ll have a look on shopping day 😂

Sunnyoutlook Wed 16-Dec-20 19:22:56

petra Thank you so much for your help. Have ordered through The British Corner Shop and it’s only 50p a sachet.

Lexisgranny Wed 16-Dec-20 19:33:39

Does anyone remember the tinned puddings that were around in the 70s, they were similar to Angel Delight, but glossier, and they did a very nice butterscotch!

M0nica Wed 16-Dec-20 19:42:53

There can never be too little blancmange in this world. Horrible pink stuff that had a skin that made you gag and had a strange chemical taste.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 16-Dec-20 19:46:55

Oh! I won’t try it. I found it in mums cupboard and remembering it with clotted cream as a child. So thought I’d try it some time.

BBbevan Wed 16-Dec-20 19:50:31

We have a rabbit shaped mold. Pink blancmange rabbit, green jelly grass and DHs piece de resistance, two or three raisins placed by its bottom. DGDs used to love that when they were little.

Kate1949 Wed 16-Dec-20 19:53:13

I put blancmange in trifle. It's lovely.

FannyCornforth Wed 16-Dec-20 19:54:53

BBbevan mold! Thank you - I couldn't decide whether it was mould or mold!

Whitewavemark2 Wed 16-Dec-20 19:56:29

I’ve just had a look. There is strawberry, vanilla and chocolate.

Grandma70s Wed 16-Dec-20 20:03:08

It’s mould if you’re English, mold if you’re American.

FannyCornforth Wed 16-Dec-20 20:05:50

It’s mould if you’re English, mold if you’re American.

Really?! How interesting - so that's why I couldn't work it out...
