Recommendations please for decent sausages. The ones we have had lately are tasteless , or got very thick skins. , which ones have you liked. ?

My favourites are Tesco finest pork. I do not like lumps of meat nor apple, onion, chutney or anything else added.

My favourites used to be Morrison’s best range but now I buy Aldi Cumberland or Lincolnshire. I like a bit of spice in mine.

Not keen on any with a sweet taste.

Lincolnshire sausages, or Cumberland. Prefer Lincolnshire myself, but both very tasty.

I’ve recently discovered delicious sausages in Morrison’s on the deli counter. Pork chipolatas. I think they might be be the ones sold prepacked in trays of 12 in their finest range. On the deli counter they are sold loose at 15p per sausage. I like to buy them that way as a pack of 12 is too much.

They’re delicious dry roasted for 15-20 mins in a hot oven.

My mother-in-law likes Finnebrogue Naked sausages because they are straightforward and made with British Outdoor Bred pork.
She also rates Heck 97% ones highly.

If she is out and about she buys from her local butcher but these are the supermarket ones she likes.

I'm not offering my opinion as I'm a vegetarian!

Get them from the butcher. We’re lucky to have a sausage shop nearby which has a wide variety of flavours. Won’t entertain supermarket ones now.

Either the butcher's or Sainsbury's TTD Cumberland depending what it's for

This - find a decent local butcher and buy your sausages there. Far better than anything you'll get in the supermarket. Or try a farmers' market, if you happen to have one nearby.

British outdoor bred from Wenlock Edge, sold at our local farm shop, much better than supermarket.

We’ve developed a liking for chicken sausages, less fat. For indulgence we use the local butcher with his Hog sausages…lovely!

JaneJudge Sat 02-Oct-21 19:45:31

these are lovely

Definitely a good local butcher if possible return a Farmers market
Of course tastes vary but I really didn’t like the Heck ones.

Donald Russell online. They also do Stornoway Black Pudding. Yum!

Joyfulnanna Sat 02-Oct-21 19:49:28

Richmond meat free sausages.

Fellers Butcher Oxford Covered Market and Dews Farm Shop near Wantage, Oxfordshire. Wonderful, tasty sausages from both.

We buy a fair bit of Donald Russell meat, and I'd rate their beef very highly. But I don't care for their sausages.

Heck are my favourites. Especially the Chicken Italia and Vegan Italia.

We buy our sausages from the local butcher.
When we were first married my husband's family owned a grocery shop. They made their own sausages from a recipe handed down from his grandfather.
Sadly the shop closed due to competition from the out of town supermarkets. He sold the recipe for his sausages to said butcher.
They are the best.

I avoid sausages apart from maybe once or twice a year. They are full of chemicals and offal not fit for human consumption

M0nica Sat 02-Oct-21 21:07:44

Depends where you buy them Ethelwasher1. Buy sausages from a butcher who makes them from the pigs he rears on his own land without dosing wth antibiotics and with few additions, they are as healthy as a slice of pork fillet.

Hetty58 Sat 02-Oct-21 21:19:35

Co-op Gro are the best vegan sausages, made from mushrooms and very tasty!

Jaxjacky Sat 02-Oct-21 22:01:50

I agree MOnica and nothing wrong with offal in my view.

Grannynannywanny Sat 02-Oct-21 22:05:07

To misquote Dick Emery..
Ooh you are offal but I like you!

Hetty58 Sat 02-Oct-21 22:08:16

'healthy as a slice of pork fillet' - really? Saturated fat, heart disease, nice!

dragonfly46 Sat 02-Oct-21 22:10:28

I get them from the local farm shop - delicious!
